Hey folks!

Just checking in on how things are for you. Things seem to be a bit faster on my end, but I am still seeing the forums go down a couple times a day (for about a minute) from all the spamming some of these bad IPs are doing. We are considering the possibility of adding a limit to the amount of actions per second users can do to help a bit as it seems some of these spammers are sending nearly a thousand requests within a few minutes. That said, we also don't want to limit all of your experiences either, though I doubt yall are clicking on links or posting as much as that.

In any case, hearing how your experience has been the past week would be great to hear if you have the time.

Thanks a ton everyone and sorry for any slowness you've been experiencing.

I'm honestly surprised any website or online service operates without rate limiting these days. Not that it really fixes the problem, just makes it less worse. Things have been alright on my end, still the rare "service is unavailable", but generally responsive and generally working fine.

How I have existed fills me with horror. For I have failed in everything - spelling, arithmetic, riding, tennis, golf; dancing, singing, acting; wife, mistress, whore, friend. Even cooking. And I do not excuse myself with the usual escape of 'not trying'. I tried with all my heart.

In my dreams, I am not crippled. In my dreams, I dance.

Yeah, it's a lot more responsive now than it was. The forum's still eating the pets, uhm, posts, every now and then, but that'll probably never change. Not with this forum software at least. :p

No mind to think. No will to break. No voice to cry suffering.

No timeouts but more frequent long page loading again.
Also, just got a "can't edit post because moved or it's been too long."  --- this was trying to edit a post 5 minutes later.  I assume that is not normal, even if there is still (no clue) an actual edit time limit.

I may have figured it out - it's a keyboard character issue. I think I recall something similar happening before for something.

That error happened again today. I sometimes separate thought/topic paragraph swings in longer posts with a line of "equal" signs. Sometimes I use a long line of "minus" signs instead, it's random/I'm strange. Anyway when it wouldn't let me edit, I removed the string of equal signs from the post and the edit went through vs. error message. Can't say for sure that's the problem ofc, or why a long line for them vs. only 1 might cause an issue -  so as usual ... *shrug* 😄   At least I was able to make an edit.

Anyone else having issues using 'like' feature? for some reason I am getting this error from time to time:

I wanna run naked through the street, with green Jell-O all over my body, reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly may feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. I had that issue, too.

What I'm also experiencing are long loading times. Sometimes it's quick, but then the next page takes over 10 seconds to load.

Other websites are fine so I don't think it's a problem on my side.

Hey @Boeroer,

I'm not sure your availability as of this message, but I was wondering if the forums were still chugging for you right now or if they happen to be stable. I noticed my phone getting alerts between 12:30 and 12:45 showing the forums going up and down multiple times, so it looks like it was pretty unstable around the time of your post (maybe a tad before). I'm curious if the forums struggling then happened to be the culprit.

Otherwise, we have been trying to help boost the server allotment to help accommodate the large influx of new users and unregistered guests as we were reaching nearly 2k concurrent users which with 60k queries per minute at times which was stressing the server. We've also been deleting some bad actor IPs we suspect of attacking the forums to leave room for all you good actors to do your thing :)

It's currently looking like we have about half as many users right now as compared to the 2k peak, so I'm hoping the forums are a bit more stable for you now (as they are for me at the moment) than they were earlier, but I'd still be curious to know.

As for the reacting to posts failing @Chilloutman and Boeroer, is that a consistent issue you are noticing or is it seemingly random?

Thanks a bunch for the reports and for helping us to make the forums a more enjoyable experience!

Hey @SChin,

did a little testing, loading up a bunch of threads in multiple tabs and so on and also using the phone - and now the forums work fine again for me. 👍

The reaction thing with the posts can happen from time to time, but it only happens very rarely for me - except for the last two weeks or so where it happended more frequently. But today I didn't encouter that problem yet.
