the reason why there are no achievements is because a lot of people (including myself) complained about how some stupidly annoying challenges were also achievements in poe1. some people like to get to 100% achievements collected without having to:

 

- triple crown solo

- triple crown solo again after the DLC comes out because they added another triple crown solo challenge, but also have to kill all the dragons and bosses

- rest less than 10 times.

 

 

Sorry to say but I completely disagree with this. I mean, they are called achievements. Google says: "achievement: a thing done successfully with effort, skill, or courage". Games these days hand achievements for starting the game for the first time, getting the first companion or something equally trivial. Why are these even in the game when they're essentially participation awards?

 

I just cannot understand people who want to have 100% completion just handed to them for the sake of it without any semblance of challenge. Achieving TCS and The Ultimate were one of my fondest memories of Pillars 1. I guess I have you (and other like minded people) to blame for denying me that sense of awe in this game.

 

 

There's a difference between wanting 100% completion "handed" to you and not wanting triple crown solo to be a mandatory requirement. Setting the absurdity of needing a game to tell us that we've achieved something aside, TCS is above and beyond (both in difficulty, time investment, and - for many - lack of fun factor) what is normally required to reach 100% completion in most games. 

 

You can still achieve TCS; lots of people do. The game just won't give you a high five for it anymore.

After killing off the slavers the Rauatai cutscene didn't occur. Clean game no mods.

No DoT. You can buff again afterward but either it expires or the boss clears your buffs again.

No offense, but what are the challenges for, when there are still no achievements for any of them? At least it would net you mor BB points as reward, if nothing else.

Stupidly annoying or just hard? They can implent a achievement for each challenge done. Even if you complete the game with 1 or 2 challenges, you get the achievement(s), you dont have to TCS with it.

 

 

both. the pacifism achievement was annoying. The Ultimate was hard and tedious.

 

magran's challenge, for example, is a challenge i never want to play (because I paid hard money to back a real-time-with-pause game, twice, not to play a twitch-click/scripting game). but i'm also a cheevo hunter. so if you made an achievement for magran's challenge i would go insane and have to play it just for the achievement.

 

and there are plenty of people who are cheevo hunters and who may never want to touch magran's fires at all. i think that's why virtually all the achievements in deadfire are story based or simple things like crafting or finding things.

That doesn't actually mean anything about future plans. It just means that there exist basically string entries/string tables for such things. I don't know how common it is in games industry, but the industry I work in it's pretty common to generate text for features that never pan out or you end up not doing.

 

I suspect if those entries ever do get flipped on, it'll be for in-game berath's blessings points, not for e.g. steam achievements.

What defensive stat does it target?

 

It appears to be targeting Deflection. It deals Corrode damage in an AoE and the combat log doesn't really show that your buffs have been cleansed. I can't tell in advance when it's going to happen.

 

Its other attacks:

Symbiote makes smaller hostile black oozes appear. If you don't kill them, after some time they merge into a bigger ooze. Over time they keep merging until you get a gigantic black ooze almost as big as the megaboss and with only slightly inferior stats.

 

It's a pretty hard fight. I can't seem to beat it with my habitual party.

 

These are the megaboss's stats (I'm using the Higher Is Always Harder mod but it shouldn't matter, as I expect the megaboss to be a level-20 encounter):

hoo boy, regular buff cleansing is going to be rough for my preferred playstyle.

Are you guys seeing the difference in PotD? If yes, then how?

Hmm, with unbalancing strikes i can get it down to 137 reflex :) Is there a way to lower the stats, like it was with belranga?

Does the cleansing strike from the boss have big area of effect? And is it used often?

Island Aumaua still have to wade through water zones so their whole racial bonus is for nothing... Atleast it's so in the Gorecci Street area in Port Maje.

We actually have it in the database to potentially make them usable together.  This is something that is being considered and has to go through an approval process before any decisions are made on it.  This fix was just to get the system straightened out and then to potentially get those modes working in tandem.  I hope this helps at least answer why we fixed that bug.

Yeah it was in combat too, atleast before this update it was so. That's when I noticed it, I've been starting over for each patch.

But the game gives you a high five for completing the starting island, a tutorial if you will. But it won't give you a high five for truly achieving something that requires dedication? What does that tell you about the game itself, may I ask?

 

Regardless, I don't want the game to give me a high five. I just want a confirmation that I can share with my friends and anyone else who is interested, that I have achieved something worth achieving. If for some truly absurd reason this cannot be a part of Steam achievements because some people want 100% to be a freebie, so be it. But I think there needs to be some way that the game recognizes when you've achieved something difficult and a way to share this accomplishment with other people.

They could just make "Triple Crown + All God Challenges" it's own challenge entry, like Triple Crown is now. You get an indicator on that screen of what challenges you've finished. Screenshot that screen to share it with "friends" (brag to nameless followers on social media).

Well, 100% isn't a freebie - I'm pretty sure you have to complete every faction questline, plus other requirements (as for Port Maje, EVERY game gives away easy early achievements to get the ball rolling). But I get what you're saying: the game should reward TCS somehow. A 30-40 pt. Berath's Blessings reward sounds about right. I just don't understand why a playstyle that only 1% of gamers wll ever even want to attempt should be a requirement for the other 99.
