No offense, but what are the challenges for, when there are still no achievements for any of them? At least it would net you mor BB points as reward, if nothing else.

Some nice inclusions in this patch, thanks! The UI adjustments alone are a major QoL improvement.

the challenges are just to make the game... more... "challenge"-ing

the reason why there are no achievements is because a lot of people (including myself) complained about how some stupidly annoying challenges were also achievements in poe1. some people like to get to 100% achievements collected without having to:

- triple crown solo

- triple crown solo again after the DLC comes out because they added another triple crown solo challenge, but also have to kill all the dragons and bosses

- rest less than 10 times.

Stupidly annoying or just hard? They can implent a achievement for each challenge done. Even if you complete the game with 1 or 2 challenges, you get the achievement(s), you dont have to TCS with it.

both. the pacifism achievement was annoying. The Ultimate was hard and tedious.

magran's challenge, for example, is a challenge i never want to play (because I paid hard money to back a real-time-with-pause game, twice, not to play a twitch-click/scripting game). but i'm also a cheevo hunter. so if you made an achievement for magran's challenge i would go insane and have to play it just for the achievement.

and there are plenty of people who are cheevo hunters and who may never want to touch magran's fires at all. i think that's why virtually all the achievements in deadfire are story based or simple things like crafting or finding things.

Yes! Super excited about the update - just in time to finally finish my entire playthrough (no more starting over!!).  So what does "is being reworked" does that mean in a future patch??:

  • Path of the Damned Endgame Tuning
    • Path of the Damned is being reworked to give a better experience for mid and higher level end game content. Can you survive the increased difficulty with your party?

“How do you 'accidentally' kill a nobleman in his own mansion?"

"With a knife in the chest. Or, rather, a pair of knives in the chest...”

The Final Empire, Mistborn Trilogy

Just checked. Challenges still disable both mods and Blessings. Very disappointing; hope this is reconsidered.

Apologies - To clarify this has been reworded to reflect that this is reworked in the beta

I like big bugs and I cannot lie...

Nice patch!

I'm really looking forward to the spellshaping feature and hope it is available for most 1.5 m radius spells to make them more competitive with other AoEs.

A small question about PoTD difficulty changes - will they appear in already-in-progress playthrough (at least the unexplored parts of it where changes have been made), or do I have to start a new playthrough for them?

You all are awe

I understand why it's in place -- someone could write a mod that just let people automatically complete the challenge, etc. -- but it still basically means I'll never play a challenge at all because my playstyle at this point is *entirely* reliant on the expanded AI conditionals mod and playing without it is just a giant chore.

I think the answer is that at some point they need to go through and implement some of the more critical ease-of-use mods into the base game.

It's allready mentionend in a thread, that there are such achievements in the future:

And what if they did? No big deal. More power to them if that's how they like to play.

Only reason I can see is achievements, and I'd rather be locked out of achievements than to be locked out of options. I'd never play without the mods I like, nor would I play without Blessings—but I'd love to have Galawain's challenge on all the time.

I second AndreaColombo. Unless Obsidian want to have access to accurate statistics of challange completion really badly, I really don’t see the point. Even if the datamined achievements were I implimented in the future, and even if making challenges moddable/with Berath’s blessings would mean that some people would use mods to 100% their achievement page... so what? Surely, a bigger flexibility in customizing your gaming experience is worth more than accurate achievements.

I don't mind either way but I'd prefer it more open. You may be able to get around disabling mods by adding text directly to the relevant files rather than going through the override folder, though that'd be a hassle and would get overriden by any game updates

I don't care about achievements. I would be interested if I could get all of them in a game, but that never happens. There is always something absurdly difficult that removes all the fun of it or requires you to retry a few dozen times (and I don't have the time to do it). For example: "finish the game in 2 minutes" or "Holy Crown Solo", so I don't bother.

Berath's Blessings and mods are an entirely different thing though. They can make the game much more interesting and add a lot of replay value. And so can the Challenges. But if I have to choose, I'll go with BBs and mods.

Oh hey: take a close look at the picture for the other Berath's Blessing that gives you the "evil captain" passive. I got a chuckle from seeing the face on the wanted poster

So, are Berath's Blessings now allowed with Magran's Challenges? I'd like to know because it would mean restarting my wizard playthrough...

No.

The last page or so has been about just that.

Just saw it, thanks for the answer

The new megaboss is a biatch, guys. It has a Corrosive Solvent attack that clears your buffs on top of dealing a boatload of damage, so good luck trying to keep them up with Salvation of Time—nothing to keep up once Corrosive Solvent removes them. It also deals a lot of damage with its regular attacks, and it attacks rather fast. Holy heck it is one tough son of a biatch XD

Is that a DoT attack or does he just clear the buffs and then you can buff again?

No DoT. You can buff again afterward but either it expires or the boss clears your buffs again.

Sorry to say but I completely disagree with this. I mean, they are called achievements. Google says: "achievement: a thing done successfully with effort, skill, or courage". Games these days hand achievements for starting the game for the first time, getting the first companion or something equally trivial. Why are these even in the game when they're essentially participation awards?

I just cannot understand people who want to have 100% completion just handed to them for the sake of it without any semblance of challenge. Achieving TCS and The Ultimate were one of my fondest memories of Pillars 1. I guess I have you (and other like minded people) to blame for denying me that sense of awe in this game.
