By himself the Priest of Skaen does not seem very noteworthy. I am trying to make it work with Trickster, also from an RPG perspective but it does not seem to be working too well. If I continue down this path, what weapons in particular should I be looking to use?

There's a good Contemplative of Skaen here. The Shaman build linked above is pretty phenomenal, as well.

But yeah, I'd not multiclass Skaenpriest with Rogue, because it's a mini-rogue as is, and its special tricks will be of greater use to one of the other martial classes who can't duplicate them (or with Chanter, but that's practically a given, since Chanter is good with everything). It's understandable if that's not a satisfying answer, since Rogue/Skaenpriest feels like a natural combination, but in the words of the sages: them's the breaks.

If I'm typing in red, it means I'm being sarcastic. But not this time.

Dark green, on the other hand, is for jokes and irony in general.

Stay single class for the Symbol of Skaen and Incarnate spell.

Problem with that is that you don't get any Rogue benefits despite the Priest's abilities going in that direction.

True. So you said you tried Trickster and it didn't mesh?

I'd say it just lacks dps. Thematically/RPG-wise it meshes very well but the build does not seem to do anything particularly well, if that makes sense.

I've run some test with a skaen priest/ asssassin-street fighter ( both worked well) in solo and ot felt good actually. 16 in int/per/dex. No particular items needed, exept a low recovery armor, assassin slippers if you go assassin, eventually physiker belt. You are better served by dual wielding 2 slow 1h weapons ( swords, sabres)

Main strategy so far is :

start fight

shadoing beyond (priest spell),

cast litany for the spirit ( usually does not brek invis, bit you can even skip this spell),

cast triumph of crusaders (!!!) ( this will pop up invis),

cast weapon of faith ( skip if against too manu interrupters),

start spam rogue attacks.

If you are low life use smoke cloud to get an assassination.

Practically once you cast triumph ot the crusaders you have a veeeery long (~120 sec) buff that is HUGE heal on kill ( ~120 life). As a rogue you naturally focus about 1 enemy at a time, and every time you kill something you go back to full health or quite. Very fon and works quite good ( just beware when there are too many alpha stikers/ interrupters around: if you don't kill anyone for too much time you are dead. Never cast healing spells, just kill people).

Bonus: if weakeked/ enfeebled: cast prayer/ litany for the body

Yes you multiclass priest basically only for triumph of the crusader. Yes it is worth it.

Good Multiclass Priest of Skaen build?

Let's approach your question as a problem to solve.

The requirement basically is to find the best build between following 11 combinations:

- priest of skaen

- priest of skaen / barb

- priest of skaen / chanter

- priest of skaen / cipher

- priest of skaen / druid

- priest of skaen / fighter

- priest of skaen / monk

- priest of skaen / paladin

- priest of skaen / ranger

- priest of skaen / rogue

- priest of skaen / wizard

Plus figure out the best subclass if multi-classed. And bonus points if going Skaen is superior to other deities.

You know.. nothing fancy/stellar comes to mind.

The most obvious synergy is, as Dr <3 mentioned: skaen/assassin.

The important thing here is that you get bonus Finishing Blow uses, Shadowing Beyond (for Assassinate) and Escape which might be used with Salvation of Time.

As for weapon, let's think: you start from stealth. Offhand weapon won't get Assassinate bonus nor stealth recovery bonus. Thus:

- while you can assassinate: heavy 2H or unique weapons with dps oriented per-rest procs

- when you run out of means to going invis: heavy DW (if you have guile left) or The Red Hand (otherwise) for steady dps.

For example you can open up from stealth with:

- Dragon's Dowry,

- Skewer from Spearcaster,

- Thunderous Report / Wild Barrage from Kitchen Stove

- Storm Rune Shot from Thundercrack

- Rod with Modal on

While for steady dps to consider dual-wielding two out of: Xefa's Empirical Explication, Fire in the Hole, Kitchen Stove, Thundercrack, Scordeo Trophy.

You could also consider:

- priest of Skaen / bleakwalker or wayfarer, who mainly deals damage via full-attacks but can also occasionally toss Lay on Hands, Liberating Exhortation, Divine Mark or Consecrated Ground. Plus Cleansing Flames and Storm of Holy Fire in the late game.

- priest of Skaen / sharpshooter with Thundercrack/Scordeo Trophy spamming Accurate Wounding Shot with Finishing Blow. Cleansing Flames should also double wounding dps.

P.S. Wouldn't say that these are really good and specialized builds. But should be viable enough.

Thanks for this and I think you are right, just is not much going for multclass Skaen, even as a single class Priest, there are better choices. RPG-wise, still interesting though.

The big-ticket items for Priest of Skaen are Escape, Finishing Blow, Shadowing Beyond, and not having to spend any points on Minor Avatar. To me, that all points to paladin or fighter, or maybe monk or barbarian, with a few dips into priest spells where the really good stuff shows up. Those will help increase the mileage you get out of Skaen's granted powers.

If I'm typing in red, it means I'm being sarcastic. But not this time.

I think shadowing beyond points to assassin, personally. Assassin is really nice with casters, but is heavily limited by resources and by the fact that it's cheapest invisibility option also has a recovery time. Two to three uses of shadowing beyond per fight significantly extends your capacity to backstab and assassinate before you start dipping into consumables. All the other priest spells you gain also can make up for losing out on high level rogue abilities.

To the best of my knowledge, you can not pair classes that gain a benefit from a banned disposition. Skaen disallows Aggressive but Bleakwalker loves it, and Kind Wayfarer disallows Cruel which Skaen loves.

Yeah. I don't think any of the paladin orders really fit Skaen philosophically.

Yeah Skaen is about punishing those who otherwise would be above/be able to avoid punishment. But doing so in the most cruel way possible. Bleak Walker would probably be the best fit of the ones available, though with a dash of Kind Wayfarer/Shieldbearer?

BUT Bleak Walkers favour aggressive and Skaen does not. Magran seems to fit best with the Bleak Walkers tbf.

Yeah I know it's not a legal combination, I was more implying that a Paladin order that sat somewhere between Bleakwalker and Wayfarer/Shieldbearer would be the Skaenite order.

Edit: Wow, Goldpact is literally the only valid MC for a Skaen Templar.
