  1. I don't understand, spellcasters are already legit gods. The whole game. Do you want them machine gunning fireballs and ice novas all over the place? O WAIT they can already do that
  2. 1. I actually want spell casters to do less damage, less CC. They are just so dang strong and vital to a good party and when used properly trivialize every fight in the game. IE wizards and druids weren't topping damage. 2. I want to see ranged bow/gun users doing more reliable/faster paced damage. 3. I want to see Chanters actually doing something. 4. Melee is far too punishing with risk/reward. Tanky characters do far too little too slowly, damage dealers are almost forced into nakedness / reach weapons or risk tons of micro. The two roles of melee damage and tankiness need to be brought closer together. Monks need an increase to damage output. 5. Armor Recovery penalties are WAY too punishing. IE had armor restrictions for a reason. See above 6. Pathfinding needs improved. Sometimes the enemy gets "confused' and all swarm to a single side of my front line, even if clear paths are open 7. Combat needs slowed down past level 4. The pace seems the same as IE with improved Haste on all my characters. If i can't get through a fight in about 10 seconds I start getting annoyed. 8. Why? BECAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH COMBAT. Good god every square inch of some places in the game is enemies. Take a step to the right...pack of wolves, to the left is a swarm of beetles, in front of you is a bandit army. Some levels of Endless would look hilarious if you could see everything. Solid mass of monsters surprised the floor doesn't collapse.
  3. Sure does, and by quite a noticeable difference, even between 10-20 Dex. Cast the spell faster, recover faster. Dex is different from attack speed % and is far superior.
  4. Ranger. Rogue like DPS, safety at range, a pet that can fill a 3rd tank slot, but doesnt!, per encounter abilities. No need to deal with the Ciphers heavily nerfed Focus and Focus Gain but they do have some cool spells you will only be able to cast 1 time per encounter.
  5. A "Turn" is an unnecessary mechanic that is only related to you Stronghold. It is not used in any other form of the game, but existed because of lack of oversight on design. I believe the Heinsenberg uncertainty principle comes closest to describing a turn. You can either know WHEN a turn will occur or HOW a turn will occur, but you can't know both.
  6. Wizards were just misunderstood, although the argument that al lot of their spells are weird still holds. Chanters are trash , Rangers were trash because they couldn't fulfill their role as high single target DPS...that has changed, Fighters were the undisputed god of tanks, now average tanks but w/o tools the others bring (surprisingly I would take a Chanter tank over a fighter because they may bring little, but it is better than nothing). It is a party based game, solo runs are for Ego nothing more, so I see solo runs as not an intentional design choice. I've seen people defend chanters to the high heavens, but it certainly isn't off objective analysis. It is always subjective WANTING the Chanter to be good. "enormous difference" is not quantified.
  7. The role of the fighter is to make you realize how bad they are. When you get to the late game and they are doing nothing but taking up space you try to figure out what you can replace them with to make your party better. Also the same as a Chanter
  8. Its not about enjoying their playstyle (which i guess you like never selecting them) its about they are gutter trash. I mean pure gutter trash class. Chants are weak, slow to come, and fall off. They cant damage, they cant CC, they can tank but why not take a tanky barb, and their invocations require a very poor party to get out before the fight ends. Their higher level chants ACTUALLY MAKE IT HARDER TO CAST their invocations. Higher level invocations actually take MORE chants to cast, even though high level chants take longer to churn out. The class actually gets worse as you level it up farther. Its shameful. And it pisses me off that the CEO of the company goes out and says how they don't suck. They do suck compared to everything but maybe fighter after 2.0 The only way he can say those things with a straight face is: 1. He doesn't understand the game and really doesn't know they are bad (my best guess) 2. He admits that people like bards, so he wanted to bring in more sales by lying 3. He didn't want to make Josh look bad so he lied
  9. The Wizard is a living breathing sentient cannon of destruction for the entire game. If played properly he should always be in the top 2-3 damage dealers of a 6 man group, he has the best CC spells in the game, and near the endgame every second of battle you will be casting a spell with him.
  10. Level 9 is going to be brutal for this fight... you have 9 less accuracy than the fight is intended across the board. Its surprising that Thaos isn't the problem, i have never once had an issue with the judges. Now if Thaos is on his knees, that means that he jumped to the Judge. The best way to handle this fight is to not let him jump. You need to either Paralyze/Stun/Petrify him to prevent it. When he enters a judge he casts the same spells as his human body, just as a giant statue of death, so you really gotta stop him from jumping. The judges should just hit your tanks and never change targets. If they are changing targets, load your tanks up with some summoning items, Shadows/scarabs will give 3 each and open with them at the start of the fight.
  11. Make sure that you look at the tooltip of the spell when you are finding spell accuracy. The accuracy displayed on your character sheet is actually your weapon accuracy. For the difference, are you running Zealous Aura or its lesser brother? Those spells will be adding accuracy but will be overriden, making it look like you didn't get enough. I had that Adra bug happen to me as well. Very buggy expansion ATM I'm glad I could help! Sensukis videos helped me alot learning the advanced game mechanics so its only fair that I return the favor!
  12. I haven't bought the expansion yet; too afraid that I will do a full playthrough only to have part 2 require me to do another one. I have watched a video on it and it didn't look too terrible except for the adds. This guy here has done a video on PotD showcasing the fight but he is doinga couple things wrong IMO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pncy7q5ABEE Basically his strategy is to take advantage of the Dragons poor target aquisition, face him away from the party, block the Dragon off with small adds, use the Druid to CC the ghosts/ adds that got loose, Good strategy but it can be improved upon a little but not much. Guy knows his stuff Things he did right: Face dragon away, supress the debuffs on party, buff accuracy, debuff boss, CC. Took a druid for AoE Damage Things he did wrong: Starting any Dragon fight in Pillars through text: Every dragon fight is 1000x easier when allowed to position properly before combat. You notice his entire party is hit by that breath. Bad news bears Using deflection potion over defense scroll Abused Devotions of Faithful +20 accuracy stacking w/ all other accuracy. Discovered that on my Thaos video. He didn't realize it though. That bug wont be around long so dont base any strats around it Didn't abuse instant cast summons to control the adds (his rogue was just standing around = could have spawned summons). If you don't have a druid those adds will swarm you and chain stun you. If you started combat properly by attacking with your tank while they are green, quickly surround yourself with summons (Barb and Rogue should have done) in the proper directions. Will save alot of headache. Didn't have his druid ,wizard, or rogue use an Alacrity potion The dragon has no buffs, and is only rocking 110 Will. His strat should have been to have 2 quick accuracy buffs (scroll of valor/Champions Boon) out and then Slumber the dragon or even better charm it lol before it did its second breath. Can you imagine that breath attack hitting the enemies instead of you? From there just handle the adds / debuff the boss' Fort more and Petrify ftw.
  13. Ya if it is blank you either don't have flash or are blocking the flash scripts associated with youtube. Quite a list of them: yming, google, gstatic, youtube, ajax.google. here is the link but I will break it up so it doesnt attempt to automatically play the video here. https://www.you tube.com/watch?v=itJZBtrg4DQ
  14. Read a lot of posts over the past week that people are struggling on this fight. Wanted to make sure that you guys can beat this lunatic so I made this video for you to learn from. This is on PotD @lvl12 A quick run down in what is covered in the video 1. Separate casters from Statues. 2. Occupy Thaos with Widowlings 3. Buff Accuracy as high as possible 4. Dampen Thaos' buff 5. Debuff Thaos if possible. 6. Petrify/Paralyze Thaos AND KEEP HIM THAT WAY 7. Atta Boy. Now give the souls to Woedica to make the entire second half of the game pointless.
  15. Shields for the Faithful is +25 to Deflection. The rest of his defenses are at their base value. Wrong. His shields of trhe Faithful is not the same one your Priest has.
  16. So about 120 of that deflection is his buff, about 50 of his saves is that same buff. Dampen Magic level 3 wizard spell (Level 5 Priest spelll gives +10 perception cast on Wizard before/have another Lore person use Scroll of Valor as well so +25 accuracy in all) removes all of his buffs putting him at about 30-40 Deflection, 80 Fort, 90 Will. Perfectly normal defenses, just spam Petrify/Paralze DO NOT LET HIM JUMP TO THE STATUE. Use a cipher with Fracture Volitions for Weakness debuff to lower fort and will by another 20. Always open on Thaos with a summon item directly on top of him. I prefer the Widowlings from Hearthsong merchants. They have absurdly low defenses so Thaos will always target them. Gives you about 5-6 seconds to spam your spells and GG This has just inspired me to make a video doing this. What capture software do people use these days?
  17. So is part 2 going to be an expansion to the end game? Been kind of boycotting this part 1 because I feel nickle and dimed by getting it in two parts, plus chanters are still hot garbage even though Feargus specifically said they would be anything but: "Feargus Urquhart: "I think the Chanter in particular came from this idea of, a lot of people love playing Bard. And often the implementation of Bard in games is, they're a great idea but they kinda suck?", and it seems it is still buggy as heck with these soulbound weapons. So I'm deadset on part 2 but has anyone heard any information on this at all? I can't imagine that they would tact on another ToSC like expansion after you just did a full replay to experience the last one. Welp any info would be appreciated.
  18. I'd say Slicken is a far worse offender thatn Chill Fog. It's really hard to beat an almost endlessly spammable AoE CC that targets reflex. knockdown vs blind (huge def debuff and acc) AND slowed AND -20 reflex. First level spell. Very large AoE, long duration (have to wait for it to leave after battle is over before my party moves in)
  19. Let chanters do anything at all before the fight ends. Remove Chill Fog. Nerf casters overall. Remove Chill Fog. Lower damage output across the board. Remove Chill Fog
  20. I cannot for the life of me find Touch of Rot in my spellbooks for any class. I see it on the items and I know all spells on items are accesable as regular spells but dangit I can't find it!! Am I noob and missed a Druid talent for it or something cause I was reading the text and DANG that is a good spell. 15m range, corrode damage initial and DoT sign me up! Also I can't see the Blade "Marking" debuff on hits. I see it on other weapons, I loaded multiple games (different PCs) and noticed it didnt stack there either. Is it an invis buff or is it bugged (late in the game to notice lol)? Kinda makes or breaks my use of the Blade on barbs vs Tidefall
  21. Ya a complete overhaul isn't necessary. New songs that provide more/faster Invos and I agree with the Spec part you mention there really is nothing to get for the class.
  22. I disagree. The class is incredibly weak for the combat design of the game. I can take out Raedric in under 10 seconds, Adra Dragon in under 30 w/o petrify/prone/paralysis (5 seconds flat with petrify), Thaos in about 10 seconds as well, with a six man party on PotD. My point being that the Chanter's design doesn't fit into a party; he is a SOLO GOD don't get me wrong but he is too damn slow for party based combat in PoE.
