[333] The top 3 things I hate about PoE right now [spoilers]
Namutree replied to Hormalakh's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
This kind of stuff I expect will be fixed near release. -
They have a very incorrect notion that poe isn't going to be about killing stuff. Thoughts of Deus Ex and Vampire Bloodlines delude them. See they don't want poe to be inspired by the IE games; they want it to be inspired by games that were inspired by the IE games. Don't be a doofus. Geez. Now, pretend that I actually responded at length to this nonsense. ...Unless you're just being snarky, in which case, bite me! :Cant's huge grin icon: I'm just being snarky. I know better. Although it's kind of true with Hassan Hunter, but just him.

Unfortunately there's no way no knowing that for sure. I don't think it's unreasonable to think otherwise though; I know I'd be angry if a game got a lower score because it was an affront to christian values. At any rate; I can't prove a negative.
-
Me too. No. As I said they can still express their political ideas all they want, but journalists should try to be objective when discussing the score. Many gamergate people have used the Christian game sites as a reference of an ethical way of reviewing games. They use 2 scores. The first is a gameplay score; the other is a morality score. It allows people to know whether it received a poor score based on it's gameplay, or if the journalists just doesn't like it ideologically. Woosh! Woosh?
-
I have to admit; I had the same reaction.

Then what is the point of the hissyfit that is Gamer Gate? We want ethics in gaming journalism: Examples If a reviewer feels that Bayonetta is misogynistic he should say so, but the game doesn't deserve a lower score just because it doesn't align with his/her world view. Rival journalists should not meet behind closed doors and discuss what the common agenda they are going to be pushing is. While a online story like gamergate is being covered; journalists should try to fairly cover the issue and represent both sides. Gamergate is influencing through consumption or lack there of. Do you know what a boycott is? If SJW's want to boycott things; go ahead. Most people in gamergate wouldn't hold it against them; it's the unethical journalists who are the problem.

A change in design philosophy, in fact. But unlike Namutree, I don't believe Obsidian can take it all the way. Not by release time at least. There's far more involved in making a total switch to combat XP than simply assigning XP values to all the enemies. There's also the matter of balancing the entire game from beginning to end to account for the switch, unless they think it's no big deal if players end up hitting the level cap halfway through the game. due to the thousands upon thousands of additional experience points they gained from every enemy kill. I hope you're wrong Stun...

It's meant you are bad boy! Google remembered all yours previous queries and... I don't recall searching anything about any of that stuff. Maybe it's just a highly viewed story? I've looked up mental illness; maybe that's it? I went to news as well. I don't get google. EDIT: I figured it out (I think). I have my search settings on Past-hour. Maybe that narrowed my list too much... Either way; funny story.

With each patch it gets closer and closer to combat xp. If the current trend continues; combat xp will be in the game. Changing to combat xp is a major overhaul NOT a tweak. True, but I suspect it will come.

I googled ISIS; this is what I saw: http://connecticut.cbslocal.com/2014/10/27/naked-man-accused-of-raping-pit-bull-in-neighbors-yard-says-isis-sent-him/ WTF?

I was half convinced of the new system, but yeah. Thanks for reminding me of this quote, I think they should really stick to that. Idea: Take the old system, but base the amount of points you have to invest in order to improve a skill on the weighted average of the skills. The further the skills are apart, the more you need to spend. This discourages min-maxing at least, though I don't know if it's too complex for players to get behind. Too complex. The best solution is to go back to the old system, and make some skill-checks require more than 1 skill.
-
Exactly. OE is just wasting time fooling around with the xp system. We know where this is headed. Why they don't just stop beating around the bush and just put combat-xp in is beyond me.
-
Not only that, but some of the anti-gamergate journalist seem to support or at least condone such conduct. You won't hear any condemnation of the anti-gamergate harassers by the "bring back bullying" Gawker.

She isn't a feminist? Are you just saying that because she seems to have the values of an equalist?
-
I'm glad you're so impressed with yourself Sensuki.
-
Well, even they don't know as much of poe's design has been poorly thought out. We aren't gonna learn how xp is gonna work until about a month before release. It might not have kill-xp at release, but at the moment there is good reason to think it will.

With each patch it gets closer and closer to combat xp. If the current trend continues; combat xp will be in the game. ouch... Let's hope they will not take away the engagement mechanics and not drift away from their original intentions, i don't want a clone of DnD system. Heh; if you'd have played the beta you might have a different opinion. Right now the engagement mechanics are causing trouble and very well may need to be removed as they are very flawed.

Kark's feels on 3.33 Character Creation/Building

Now do you understand my rage? -
Good to know. 'Fun' is definitely code for feeling powerful. That's why the heroic SJW's are fighting so our games won't be 'fun' anymore.
-
Tim Cain also said there'd be kill-xp. OE doesn't listen to Tim Cain.
