New Dungeon Keeper announced!!!
Video gamers + Internet = must be upset about something. Its funny because its true. It does sometimes seem that people on the internet - not just video gamers but in any online community - react to things they don't like as if someone came into their house and slapped them in the face.

Atari to revisit Baldur's Gate & NWN
Ultimately it doesn't matter to me if they necrotise an old beloved title if the resultant game is fun; they can call it "Baldur's Gate 3: Even More Bald Gates" and if its a good game that's what will get me to buy it.

TV: Heroes
Because he's evil... again. Only problem I saw with the solar eclipse thingie was Adam. How did he survive through them across the years? I thought his encounter with Petrelli dad made clear that his regeneration was the only thing what could keep him alive. Well eclipses only last a few minutes so all he had to do was not get hurt during one. Except Krezack - I gave up on the series after season one. My brother watches it and tries to get me interested in it, but nothing he's told me about season 2 or 3 has made me think it'd be worth returning to.

Atari to revisit Baldur's Gate & NWN
for frak's sake, am i the only person on this thread who can actually read? he didn't say they would revisit BG or NWN, but "the likes of" BG and NWN. it's a hopelessly vague statement that most reasonable folk would read as an indication that they want to make games like BG and NWN in the future, but not necessarily direct successors to those games and not in the next year. personally, i think it's deeply unlikely that we'll see a BG3 (pointless as it would be) and i have strong doubts about even an NWN3: no developer in their right mind would want to add to the code as bequeathed by NWNs 1&2 and few would want to spend the time to start a new engine afresh. That's why I think - as I mentioned - that if they do another Baldur's Gate at this point that its most likely going to be set in and around Baldur's Gate as opposed to a continuation of the previous series. It'll be a new game from the ground up beyond that. I imagine that - as Neverwinter Nights is fairly recent its less likely that they'll do a NWN3 that isn't in the same format as the current one. So I'd guess that it'd be more likely that Atari would dust off an old name (Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Decent to Undermountain, Pool of Radiance, Treasures of the Savage Frontier, Eye of the Beholder, Warriors of the Eternal Sun or some such) for a new game just for brand recognition if they felt they needed something more than slapping "Dungeons and Dragons" on it. Sumner Redstone sells 87% stake in Midway Games
Hahaha, well there is that. But I have liked a number of their classic games over the years, so I've always kinda had a soft-spot for them.

Sumner Redstone sells 87% stake in Midway Games
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20081202/media_...dstone_midway_1 Thought this was kind of interesting. Although I've liked a number of Midway games, if Redstone and National Amusements isn't doing well, it does make me wonder about its stake in Viacom/Paramount/CBS. Also wonder what the new majority owner, Mark Thomas, has in mind for the company.

What kind of future settings is Obsidian planning?
If we're flinging about existing RPG IPs for setting, I'd dig a good Deadlands game. But really, I don't care so much about the setting than that its a good game.

Atari to revisit Baldur's Gate & NWN
A NWN3 would not be NWN3 without a toolset. That's the entire point heh. Wasn't the original Neverwinter Nights an AOL MMORPG? Seems to me that the series could change again to something other than a toolset create your own adventure game. I'm not really sure that there is a feel for NWN or BG or IWD other than using the initial setting (at least for the OC).

Heavy Rain Tech Demo
Sounds interesting, doesn't look quite as realistic as the hype seemed to indicate. Also the gameplay mechanics described will either be fun or head-banging worthy by the sounds of it...not sure which yet.

NWN2: Storm of Zehir is out!
Well I don't hate MotB (although I hate the feeding bit)...I just haven't finished it. I guess maybe I'll give it another go after I finish SoZ...

NWN2: Storm of Zehir is out!
Weird, I feel like the odd man out because I'm so far enjoying Storm of Zehir better than Mask of the Betrayer (which I never finished - I hate games that force eating mechanisms into the gameplay ). Also not had a problem with the voice acting either (maybe its because I really don't listen to it as I can read faster than most VO actors talk and get bored waiting for them to finish?)

Weird World of the law
I dunno, the wine one seems to be a case of a proper interpretation of the law in question. I'm sure if people don't like it they could petition the government to amend the law in some way (or, alternatively, I suppose the hair salons could apply for a license to sell alcohol or whatever). The arsonist I'm with Rosbjerg, they asked a medical professional and followed the medical advice given. The bit with the hat seems a bit of overkill not sure how it rates as a health risk unless the idea was more to prevent others risky behavior trying to emulate or top the prank.

The Creeping Terror quite possibly the funnest (and funniest) bad horror film not directed by Ed Wood.

NWN2: Storm of Zehir is out!
Interestingly enough I haven't noticed the buffs disappearing after a battle and return to the overland map, personally. Guess I don't pay enough attention to how long they should last.

NWN2: Storm of Zehir is out!
I've had the lurch since the beginning playing NWN2 OC - always figured it was because my comp doesn't actually meet all the specs.

NWN2: Storm of Zehir is out!
Its not uninstalled my OS yet, so maybe not totally like PoR2. So far I'm personally really digging it. Love wandering to overland map, having monsters spawn, nearly kill me, and then running back to town because I used all my health stuff to survive the encounter, often fleeing from various monsters.

The Music Thread
Apparently I'm listening to The Andrews Sisters' "I Wanna be Loved"

NWN2: Storm of Zehir is out!
I don't even remember the menu music to NWN2 or MotB, to be honest. Its not like I sit on the menu listening to tunes. I've got a few more games to restart...

NWN2 npc AI
As I understand it, its supposed to come up with shift + key next to backspace (+/=/}) then enter for azerty keyboards. Supposedly the .ini file will allow you to edit the key to bring up the console, but I haven't looked at it to confirm.

What's your strategy for getting over a woman/man?
Could be, for all I know. Seems like everything is a euphemism for sex these days. ... Hmmm, now I have the idea of playing leapfrog naked in my minds eye...

NWN2: Storm of Zehir is out!
I don't know what it is but I always seem to restart an RPG about 10 times before I actually get going. I restarted 3 times on Fallout 3, but for some reason with NWN2 I restarted about 20 before I got a character I ran through the game with. I was hoping I wouldn't be as restart crazy with picking my 4-party group...but I am.

NWN2: Storm of Zehir is out!
As an inveterate restarter, I'd hoped being able to do my own party would cut down on this, but I've restarted 5 times over the weekend.

Movies you have seen recently
It looks good. Sadly it opened here, but in a theater too far to me to feel like driving to. >_ Over the weekend I watched: THE BROTHERHOOD OF BLOOD - low-budget film from the creative minds behind House of the Dead 2 (yeah, they made a sequel to a Uwe Boll film...without Uwe Boll!). Involves a vampire who all the other vampires (including Sid Haig as a vampire leader and Ken Foree as a vampire of a different faction) fear coming back to life (they call him the devil) and a bunch of running around trying to stop it happening. Caught in the middle is a group of vampire hunters, specifically Victoria Pratt (Cleopatra 2525, Mutant X). Haig is good and Foree is good but slightly wasted by the film. And disappointingly, they never meet on screen. Pratt, who played action heavy heroines in other projects does adequately with the same here. But the plot is threadbare, hiding the fact that its twists don't make a lot of sense by using non-linear storytelling techniques. DOG SOLDIERS - A somewhat better low-budget horror film than Brotherhood of Blood (although both have a weird plot twist that doesn't make a lot of sense based on who took some photographs). Generally speaking its a lot more fun to watch, with more interesting character bits. Sean Pertwee is awesome. You can tell Neil Marshall is a pretty good storyteller. Some good bits and a couple of great character moments (one of the soldiers gets the best defiant death scene ever) a bit hampered by that plot twist that makes a mash of character motivation combined with its inconsistency in how it treats the werewolf infection. BARBARELLA - Despite being aware of the adaption for years (and having, several years ago, read part of a collection of the original series), I'd never actually seen it before. It is, however, almost exactly as I imagined it, a weird psychedelic experience that is both interesting and nonsensical at the same time. Still its fun, sometimes hilariously funny and always visually interesting.
