  1. What a nonsensical and unprofessional way to converse. Its a post from a message board not Shakespeare. Alternate question: why do dragons fly around in random directions and attack the non-hostile environment (in this case snow and ruins) instead of their enemies? Might as well ask why the bad guys are just standing around waiting to be pushed off a cliff or until an arrow hits them in the forehead, or attacking the power-armoured generic Hero Dude one-by-one in Pterry fashion. The people pushed off a cliff was trying to swarm the party; the guy hit by the arrow was the spell caster lobbing spells (and, I guess because his hands were glowing about to lob another). Its a convention of any mass fight in entertainment that people don't dogpile their opponents. For one it'd ruin martial arts films, for another I'm not sure I'd be that eager to jump on a pile when I had no clue where everyone's swords were. EDIT: I'm pretty sure the dragon was frying some of the swarming "orc" horde in the ruins, not flaming the ruins for no good reason. And if it wasn't the orc horde it was flaming, it probably just wanted to warm the land up a bit before setting itself on it and giving itself a chilly willy belly.
  2. I remember the Red Light District. Where the men were men and 1/3 of the barmaids were women.
  3. Personally I just advocate people buy what they want to buy because they think they'll enjoy it. Anything else (IMO) is madness.
  4. By either not buying the product when it becomes available, or punatively not buying other products by the company/companies involved, I'd guess.
  5. That's the kind of mental imagine that you can't unsee.
  6. I'd agree with that if DA's keywords would be 'cool' and 'awesome' instead 'dark' and 'epic'. Maybe they're going for cool dark awesome epic?
  7. What's so bad about it? Every second is cliche (there's a difference between cliche and badly done too cliche), the characters are cliche (they may have more personality in-game, but what we got here were some defining characterestics, which, presented this way, made the characters seem shallow), the whole thing feels like a bad Advent Children clone (OH HEY, WE'RE HIGH BUDGET B****, LOOK HOW COOL 'N' AWESOME WE ARE), and to crown it all, it made a WRPG look like a JRPG, which is the worst thing a trailer can do. I dunno, I understand where you're coming from on one hand, but on the other its a teaser trailer designed to entice people, so naturally it'd be chock cool of "LOOK HOW COOL 'N' AWESOME WE ARE".
  8. I'm playing Dissidia, which has made me all nostalgic over old Final Fantasy games.
  9. Yeah, but I don't expect fantasy clothing to be realistic in a game (otherwise you'd be carrying around a lot of clothing for a variety of situations) At least they're wearing cloaks against the cold (albeit apparently with low-cut, cleavage exposing tops in one case)* *not an issue if they're magic cloaks of warm-snugglyness
  10. Yeah, but finding old RPGs isn't necessarily an easy task for everyone; I know Prime Directives have had fairly recent releases.
  11. That is because of bigotry and hatred, not the dress itself. Unless they are saying that all dresses are evil and cause violence... But, if that's true, then they've got other issues... Talk about blaming the victim. Student:
  12. Actually I've heard the colloquialism here in the US, so knew what you meant. AFAIK you don't upload anything; the thread about it on Bioware's site has this quote - "The video sells it as a bit of an action game but it's a legit RPG with turn-based combat. We will also have a few items you can unlock in DA:O by playing."
  13. I guess about whether he should or shouldn't be able to dress in women's clothes and whether what he did wear was against a "reasonble" (in lieu of looking up the school system's) dress code. And since there is no mathematical proof for "reasonable" and it's hardly self-evident, there will always be some people that will stand against what is "reasonable", with whatever excuses. In this case, the excuse is personal expression (a subset of FREEDOM™). Well if reasonable was able to be well defined then there'd be little to talk about or discuss; this thread would be an initial post and a lot of affirmation replies after it. True, and I don't think the school was outside of their bounds within their actions. There is a mindset though that education in general should have a free and open sharing of ideas[*] within the confines of the education process, and part of that arguably could be allowing contact with people who hold to other standards. While there is a certain degree of disruptive element when someone "different" from the microcosmical sociatal norms come into a school, generally speaking I'd think that the disruptiveness of the students presence would lessen as time progresses. I'd be interested to know - how does open homosexuality[**] damage morale in the military? Having never been in the military, I've heard this argument used before but confess to not understanding it. [*]although, to be fair, this never actually happens [**]possibly this needs a definition too before coment
  14. I guess about whether he should or shouldn't be able to dress in women's clothes and whether what he did wear was against a "reasonble" (in lieu of looking up the school system's) dress code. There's a lot of fight against school uniforms - not just because the teens object to not being able to dress to impress. There's a lot of discontent from parents over perceived price gouging from the vendors (since all uniforms have to have the school logo on it) because there's nowhere else to go.
  15. I don't really think its about FREEDOM
  16. Its too soon, I think. We haven't actually, I think, had the opportunity to see what good (or ill) his ideas, presidency and legacy will be.
  17. "When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle." - Edmund Burke
  18. BTW, my favorite piece was the Banshee. I wonder how they'll do the setup? With the 4 player mode will there be only two sets of "pieces" like in the original, four or will you have the ability to sort of "make your army"?
  19. And I just read through the manual and - no mention of chess! My childhood memories ruined!
  20. Two opposing sides with roughly the same number of pieces as chess on a light and dark board. Movement limitations based on directionality was replaced by movement limits based on squares, and back row pieces had more power than front row pieces. They added the extra wrinkle of light vs dark having an advantage on light vs dark squares and fighting for squares. I seem to remember (but admit the memory cheats) the original manual even describing it as being like chess. I played it like I did chess as a kid, the difference being I won a lot more at Archon (although in retrospect maybe that was my problem playing Chess - I played it too much like Archon! )
  21. We all remember how the original game box shipped with one empty cd slot. Coincidence? Where else were you going to keep the expansion disc when it came out?
  22. Yeah, the outlay of his options are pretty...one sided, but not that far from general teenage thought in my experience. There have been some schools that wouldn't let boys wear kilts. Not that that's what you're talking about, its just your mention of skirts made me think of it.
  23. So will this DLC be available to purchase down the line in a hard form (like Fallout 3's for the 360?) Or like "Bring Down the Sky" was for ME1 when the 360 "Platinum Hits" release came out? I haven't been able to tell based on what I've read so far.
  24. I'd rather have them actually trying to run a radio station, but constantly getting in fights and insulting each other on the air. "No that song is stupid, play something else! All your music sucks! *sounds of a fight in the background while the song is still playing* Raider sketch comedy program Raider amateur hour Raider point and counter point Raider DIY segments The list is endless!
  25. Yes, having to dig a mile long tunnel is totally as easy as waltzing across an open border. And there are ways of detecting tunnels also. When someone doesn't want to solve a problem, there are always a million excuses for why it can't be done. My point is crossing the border via tunnels is already happening with the current border; I don't see building a wall stopping that. And yes they still find the tunnels which doesn't stop them being made. In general while a giant wall might be a deterrent to some, I think evidence exists that it would stop the problem. The debate could be whether it'd significantly drop the numbers, but it wouldn't stop it.
