While violence, in general, should be condemned, I'd be wary of buying into the narrative surrounding the presentation of that video. The only context for the video is provided by the poster, who by their twitter profile has an agenda they are pushing (if it wasn't obvious from their word choice).

In this case for the Supreme Court, my understanding is that the official reason he was terminated was listed as "conduct unbecoming", and that when he pushed about the reasoning was able to make some connection between his firing and his joining a gay sports team. When there isn't a documented pattern of employee issues to justify cause it opens employers up to accusations of manufacturing cause in a firing.

With the exception of certain employment situations in the US, for most professional jobs you'd need to show cause or violations of the employment contract to terminate someone. Temporary work, day-to-day employees, etc. will be exceptions.

My guess is that its easier to ignore what other people are doing when they're a mile away than when they're in the apartment above you, and there's less opportunity for crimes of opportunity when you have to go out of your way to see if there's an opportunity. I've never seen Gone With The Wind, but I've heard Tara's theme 1,000,000,000 times too many. HBO's plan, to add statements about the historical context and the portrayals of the characters are probably about as good as they can do. I'd imagine Margaret Mitchell would be more pilloried in the modern day if not for her charitable works, including paying towards tuition for Morehouse medical students and helping add seats for African-Americans at local hospitals.

Might be misreading you on this, but the University of Texas tower shootings were 4 years earlier. You can go back to at least 1927 with other types of school attacks, with the Bath School massacre being the earliest I can think of off the top of my head.

I see african-american politicians, religious leaders, and others condemning any violent protest and advocating for non-violence everytime this type of violence has broken out. And often calling for non-violence before the protests start. So...not sure what you're on about.

There's a few decades of history of people leaving Appalachia to find better jobs. It doesn't change the poverty of the region, though. Word on the news was they were headed towards State Farm Arena and the police bottlenecks them on the road in front of CNN rather than let the protest spread uncontrolled. I think at that point it was a target because that's where they were.

Its pretty weak sauce if the attempt was to poke at Gen-X. But maybe there aren't enough people who remember Big Otis from Kellog's OKs or something for them to actually target the 55+ crowd?

The age based high risk group is 65 or older, so DOB around 1955. Meaning that when this ad campaign first started, that group was 17. The ads ran until 1984 (an unprecedented 12 years!) meaning its conceivable that those in their early 40s would remember the ad from their childhood. Heck, the child actor who played "Mikey" is himself only about 51 or so, so also outside the high risk category.

I've passed the issue up to see if I can get someone to assist. Not sure why the form isn't working.
