The red hand arquebus needs a huge nerf.
thundercleese replied to Teclis23's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)Yeah in another thread they claimed that was supposed to have been fixed to only have one set of stacks; clearly it hasn't. I imagine with all that your Maia goes down if someone sneezes at her.

What to do with Cipher Serafan?
I've had him turn all the enemies invisible with a Phantom Foes, then he went to cast Pain Link on one of my frontliners and blew up my backline. Was one of the funniest things I've seen in the game. Well, other than Eder getting trapped under the Kraken and then the Kraken teleports out of his pool like "Hey, get away from my butthole!" Best use for Serafen if you made him a Cipher? Sacrifice him to Skaen.

Ansalons Armor Tier List
Apparently he tested it at a time where it was broken and never thought to retest it as patches got released?

How does disintegrate work ? IT doesnt seem to work as descibed
So based on these observations do you think it will do more total damage against characters with a high resolve?

Build Ideas for 'The Red Hand'
Nope that was just a random scout where I mainly picked passives. The Frostyboy should be even better than that due to extra hit to crit and PEN. Though tbh once you get Deathblows a scout would be pretty close in performance.

[2.0] Arcane Dampener still buggy against drugs
thundercleese replied to kilay's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)If it were just for the duration of the dampener I could understand it being a design choice. But last time I played Nalpasca the drug crash + Nalpasca crash both persisted after the bampener had expired and the drug had resumed its effects.

Questions about Shifter Druid with Fighter (Warden)
I'm pretty new here so I apologise for the stupid question. So I should take the two weapons feat instead? Are there any other talents that help the fury's spirit shift attack? Yes two-weapon style is the one you want. Any martial passive that doesn't specify "proficient weapons" will work on them. From the Druid side I believe the only one that will boost it is Heart of the Storm (+1 PEN).

What gear do you recommend for an Ascendent?
For weapon it depends on how much you are wanting to optimise. Frostseeker may not be the optimal weapon choice for all encounters, but for groups it is very effective at filling your focus, providing you have a decent crit rate. The problem with it is consistency; if you don't crit your focus bar will barely move - if you do it will almost always go straight to full. Dr. Hieronymous Alloy's suggestions are all very good. Basically anything that increases accuracy/pen and/or your primary stats.

Hasongo bugs
thundercleese replied to Chessbrain's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)IIRC it is just resentment and gift. You also get/regain some of the 1/combat abilities linked to story progression.

Knock Down Ability
Yeah this is a big that's been around for a while now (you also get mace and battle axe proficiency). Latest patch is supposed to have fixed it, but I haven't tested yet to confirm.

Obsidian Based Class Revisions (Buffs, Nerfs, Tweaks)?
I think I can answer why Eothas gets Sunbeam; he is the "God of Light", the "Morning Lord", etc. From a gameplay perspective you are right of course though.

Neriscyrlas
Yeah, like I saw him up on his ledge first pumping and all. But then he just stayed there so I was like screw you too! Haha. Was a fun and challenging fight without the help though so I'm not that mad. @bg2 yeah I know, was just sharing my experience with the "helping spirits".

Essence Interrupter builds
Flurry doesn't work on ranged weapons. The other two do though.

Build Ideas for 'The Red Hand'
I'd put money on Frostseeker outperforming it on literally any character/build in the game, outside of ghosts and pure single target fights (of which there are very few). There are other ranged weapons that are also far superior if you know how to use them. The Red Hand is great for a couple reasons; you can slap it on anyone and it will do good damage, it's attainable fairly early/easily, it can trivialise Vessel fights, and you can use it to give your entire party +20/40% damage. Ok you show me frost seeker beats it. If you want to make comments like that you have to back them up. I have played with both weapons and its pretty clear red hand is far better So here's two videos of clearing out the bottom level of the VTC building, using the exact same build other than changing the armour (Maia's for Red Hand, Miscreant's for Frostseeker). Now the total damage done is virtually the same, which is expected as it was the same fight and tank contributes virtually no damage to a fight. But if you look the the time in combat stat, you will see the Red Hand was ~43 minutes, whereas Frostseeker was ~29 minutes. Or in other words, Frostseeker had ~50% more DPS. The Red Hand: Frostseeker: Because of this statement I opted to use no active abilities, other than the opener.

BUG - You havent added the extra +1 pen to alot of the unique two handers after the patch
thundercleese replied to Teclis23's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)If you don't believe me you could, you know, look at the in game stats yourself. That's more an issue with how they decided to implement PotD than with the weapons themselves. Besides, plenty of people have had success with two handed weapons in PotD. Also keep in mind swords/greatswords have dual damage types, whereas most weapons with higher PEN are single. This more or less balances out over the course of the game.

Build Ideas for 'The Red Hand'
One of my favourite ways to use it is on a Scout (Maia is perfect as her subclass helps mitigate the reduced range). You open up with a Crippling Strike from stealth (sneak attack bonus is granted from stealth), then use Marked for the Hunt, then follow up with (Accurate) Wounding Shot. Later on you can upgrade Crippling to Debilitating (Deathblows for Wounding Shot, -10 deflection, -1 armour). This whole opener can be done with 0 recovery time (about 1-1.5 seconds action time depending on dex etc.), and will usually outright kill a backliner/caster. If it doesn't, then your DoTs will usually finish them off.

thundercleese replied to Teclis23's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)Sabres have 7 base PER - swords have 6.

Neriscyrlas
Voidward (ring) also has +2 or 3 corrode armour. I asked the king for help but didn't realise I had to run over to him to get it. So I thought "You goddamn coward!" And just fought her in a straight up fight. This was in a party though so obviously not as impactful.

Ways to decrease enemy fortitude?
Good to know; may give them a try some time. Is the malus multiplicative like underpen or just subtracted from your additive bonuses?

Tekehu Chants
thundercleese replied to pikea1's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)Is it always the same chant in the same position that it resets to? If so then you could try putting the chant(s) you want to start combat with in that slot.

BUG - You havent added the extra +1 pen to alot of the unique two handers after the patch
thundercleese replied to Teclis23's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)All geatswords are supposed to have a base penetration of 7 as of patch 1.2. If Effort still has 6 then yes, that is a bug.

Ways to decrease enemy fortitude?
What is the penalty from Morning Star modal? I assume action speed or accuracy penalty? If you're planning on using one anyway then that would be the "best", but even then the opportunity cost could be too great.

[Roleplay Build] "The Iron Reaver of Dunnage" Holy Slayer (Bleak Walker/Trickster) [Complete!]
Similar size to swords etc.

BUG - You havent added the extra +1 pen to alot of the unique two handers after the patch
thundercleese replied to Teclis23's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)This has been pointed out in several threads of similar topics, all started by Teclis23. @Teclis23 your insistence that two-handed weapons are useless is contrary to what many experienced players can attest to. There are multiple builds in the Build Thread that successfully utilise two-handed weapons through entire playthroughs on PotD. If you would like advice on how to make the most of two-handed weapons, all you have to do is ask.
