OBS-4 Discussion (game and roll call)
Reveilled replied to metadigital's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
I have a Burgundy fetish. " But seriously, it's not so much a sudden attraction as an easing in. Other than the map, which is not drastically different to standard, Abberation is much like the normal game, and so is a good choice, in my opinion, for a first variant, both as a player and more especially as a GM. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you want us to try out this wacked out variant, you better come up with a non-lame-fisted map. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You don't have to play if you don't want to. -

You mean me or Mets? OBS-4 is standard, OBS-5 will be Abberation V. I hope the fact that the powers and province configurations are different qualifies it as a different map in your eyes even if it's still Europe, as I'd like you to play. -

I'll be GMing OBS-5, so if you're referring to Meta's comment about the preference lists, he means OBS-4. OBS-5 is still a few weeks away, and I haven't even started signing people up for it. -

I'll take any length or colour of hair, but long-haired redheads are my favourite. Especially pale long-haired-redheads. Tans (and worse, tanlines) are a bit of a turnoff for me. Not that I'd turn down an offer on that basis, of course. " Not that I'd get an "offer" in the first place (well, not very often), of course. "

While I'm very much the roleplayer, my players prefer things such as puzzles and battles which are won through unusual means (like dropping a chandelier on the otherwise invincible monster), which is really neither role-play or roll-play. Since I also happen to enjoy thinking up things like riddles and puzzles, I'm happy to let the game focus on that, even if it means our games are more reminiscent of Zelda and Monkey Island than your traditional RPG. Presently, my players are quite happy on a cliched quest to collect seven ancient books from seven differently themed dungeons to stop the evil Sorceress' plans to take over the world, with some fairly silly and over-the-top stereotypical High Fantasy roleplay in between.

OBS-4 Discussion (game and roll call)

When the game does start, could you email me the results of the turns in addition to the players, Mets? I'd like a copy of them for my records. Once OBS-1 is finished, I'll probably start up an archive with the turn records of all completed games on the forums. Hopefully, it will be a useful tool for beginner and experienced player alike. On another note, OBS-5 (assuming someone doesn't take that game number before I'm eliminated from OBS-2 or finished with OBS-1) will probably be a 9-player game of Abberation V. Obviously, that won't start for quite a few weeks, but y'all might want to consider whether or not you're interested. -
Obsidian Forum Diplomacy Game 2 (OBS-2)
Reveilled replied to metadigital's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
Nope, the obviously crazed ruler of Russia has the dark of it. I don't know how on earth Ender managed to convince her to take two years in a row without a build, especially with an already hostile Germany and a now hostile Austria. If I'm the expert Ender claims I am, I'd love to be a beginner of his caliber. My hat is off to you, sir. That was masterful. <_< -

All done. That's the end for Turkey, then. My inbox is becoming progressively more swamped with Diplomacy correspondence, so there is a possibility that I might forget about a recent set of orders in my inbox. Please make sure if you don't already that the orders I list are the ones you sent in most recently. -
Anyone remember a cartoon called Sheep in the Big City? I loved that show. :D

Are you planning for world domination? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nah, I just like to laugh at North Korea.

OBS-4 Discussion (game and roll call)
Reveilled replied to metadigital's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
Considering that supposedly this was your very first game ever being associated with, why make a comment "I can't think of a game where Italy managed..." You're caught lying and denying it again. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because there's plenty of game reports on the internet, eejit. And if I didn't happen to delete the records of previous turns in the first post, anyone could look at OBS-1 and see what happened in it. As anyone, including me, can do with countless forum-based games on the internet. If you actually thought your accusations through before making them you wouldn't make them at all. -
OBS-4 Discussion (game and roll call)

Recent claim? I stated it in the very first post of the very first thread on Diplomacy on theis board. And how have I made a big point of my knowledge? I hardly think a joke here and there amounts to flaunting it, and anyone who reads those articles could learn anything I know pretty damn easily. One can read Richard Sharp's The Game of Diplomacy in a day, and the other articles don't take long. Most of the OBS-1 players now have as good a grasp on notation as I do. So I may know the naes of four different openings for Turkey, but it does not follow that I know which one to use. That would require me to be an expert in negotiation, which I am not. You are more experienced than I am at that, as you have participated in negotiation in three games, which is more than I have, whether you like it or not. Attempting to portray me as some sort of huge diplomacy expert to be feared and fought against doesn't exactly demonstrate your own honesty. -
OBS-4 Discussion (game and roll call)

I've yet to finish a game either. Until OBS-2, I'd yet to start a game. I'm not decieving anybody. I happen to know the names of the strategies and the notation off by heart (and I'll add that the notation comment was a joke, if you remember). What I said was that you have more experienced at actually playing the game, which is true. You've begun to play 3 games, having brought none to conclusion. I've begun to play 2 (and am GMing 1), having brought none to conclusion. I've also made no attempt to hide where I learned the strategies from, advising people on many occasions to go read and learn what I have. And I agree, decieving people out of the game is just bad form. -

You do realise that you've actually played in more games than I have, right? I may know the rules back to front, But you are arguably more experienced than I am at actually playing the game. -

Aww...so you do love me after all. Since I won't be participating in this game, though, I would be available as an advisory GM. I'd be able to help with any rules adjudications. If people actually wanted to play a blind variant, I would be willing to examine all the moves in full and assure they go correctly. I wouldn't do it for thirty sets of orders, you understand, but if you decide to play a small blind game (by which I mean about nine countries max), I could chip in. I can help in a larger blind game if the turns are longer. I'd help with WWIV if the turns were once a month, though I doubt you crazy speed freaks would agree to that. -
What about its predecessor, then? I'm looking at Super Mario RPG: legend of the Seven Stars right now, and the only stats it has are HP, FP, Attack, Defence, Mg.Attack and Mg.Defence. In Zelda, hearts are equivalent to HP, your magic meter equivalent to FP, the strength of your sword equivalent to Attack, the strength of your tunic equivalent to defence and magic defence, and the power of whatever spell you happen to have roughly equivalent to magic attack. Besides, I thought you were done with this thread? " EDIT: I didn't mean a particular one, Mus, as I haven't played either. I looked over several reviews and walkthroughs and didn't see any mention of stats like strength. Luckily, our good friend Ender has set us straight on that matter.
-
Well, Paper Mario was an RPG, yet from what I understand the only stats in it were things like HP and MP, things you'd find in any adventure game.

On the back of your computer, there should be a large thick cable that connects between the computer and the wall. To prevent people from uninstalling your stuff, simply remove this cable when you are not using the computer. "

...the Final Fantasy games are JRPGs, not true RPGs...problem solved... ...WHO LUVS YA, BABY!!... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You can't spell JRPG without RPG, though. " And Chrono Trigger is a JRPG that does fit your definition.
