  1. Well, Shinto in Japan is rather intertwined with Buddhism, so if one is limiting the religions, Buddhism at least makes sense in Japan. Sikhism also is not included, yet that too unlike Taoism was once the religion of an Independent State.
  2. I wonder what those religious bonuses will be in CivIV. Originally, they said that the religions would not provide specific bonuses, just general ones that were the same for each religion. Perhaps they might restrict your access to different governmental forms? Like maybe a Buddhist civilization can't have "Wealth" as a national value, or a Taoist government having "police state" or "totalitarianism" as part of it's governmental structure. On that note, I must say I find it curious that Firaxis would choose Taoism over Confucianism for one of their religions. Taoism, as I understand it, never really has been a state religion, while Confucianism was the state "religion" of China for centuries. I mean, including Judaism was strange in my opinion, but at least there have been historical states with a Jewish national religion, even if Judaism hasn't really spread through conversion the way other religions have.
  3. I have a terrible memory. I absolutely loved Black Books. When I have a bookshop of my own, that's exactly how it's going to be. "No! We don't have any Harry ****ing Potter!"
  4. If we're counting Radio, then I also like I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue. And how could I forget Father Ted? Drink! Feck! Arse!
  5. Blackadder, Still Game, (and if sketch shows are allowed) Chewin the Fat and Dead Ringers.
  6. All done. England is now officially in Civil Disorder. I doubt there's much point in seeking out a substitute.
  7. Time up. No extentions. I'l have it done ASAP.
  8. I'd just like to remind everyone that the deadline is tomorrow, and there will be no extentions. Make sure they're in on time.
  9. No, you couldn't have. What makes you think you could have?
  10. Since Archie said he quit, I'll have to do his disbands for him. As the unit farthest from his home centres, F MAO will be disbanded as a result. Oh, and done. Inboxes, First Post
  11. Oh, did I mention that I'll be taking a little longer with this one because I need to update the table?
  12. Okay, Time really up. Any new orders are void from now. It'll be ready very soon.
  13. I'm afraid I'm not at liberty to say. You'll find out in three minutes. " Well, three minutes plus the time it takes for me to type it all up.
  14. Ah, what the hell. I've been granting a lot of extentions. Ten minutes.
  15. Washington Post 18th September 1903 Ottoman Sultan gives Statement on War Ottoman Emperor heard to have said: "Bulgaria cries out for Ottoman aid. We must be strong, and support our brothers. "Praise be to Allah. " Full story on page 8
  16. I'll take the 14th, and for the sake of your sig and avatar, you better hope I'm wrong! BWHAHAHAHAHAHA.
  17. From the bride's parent's to the husband or his parents. As was mentioned before, offering something for the woman's hand in marriage is a bride price, not a dowry. So if Chelsea Clinton hasn't been offered a dowry, it's because her father's a stingy ex-president.
  18. I think we should just leave their places vacant. "
  19. I would have called in to the radio show and pointed out what a dowry actually is. "
  20. I thought a dowry was when the Wife or her family gave money to the Husband or his family. I also thought that the practice of the husband paying for the wife was called Bridewealth.
  21. Must...resist...urge...insulting comment...can't resist!
  22. I'm not getting dragged into that. You'd have no way of knowing whether or not I planned them in advance, which would be both a great temptation to myself, and a great scapegoat to the rest of you if I successfully predict your moves.
  23. Well, in actual postal games, a deposit is usually required such that if you stop submitting moves before you are actually eliminated, then you lose your deposit. We don't do that, obviously, so I can only ask that people see their country through to its end. A player fighting a determined opponent will have a far harder time of it than a player fighting someone who just gives up, and it's not really fair on the other players if the person who makes the attack gets a free lunch when by rights they shouldn't. Come on, Archie! Fight them on the beaches! Fight them on the landing grounds! Fight them in the fields and streets! Never Surrender!
