I agree with you, but I have to point out the Gold Box/SSI games. They deserve a mention at least. Anyway; the only way for old-skool rpgers to "survive" in the modern crpg-era is to adapt. By learning to adapt one can dismiss such things as japanisation and console-rpg-influences as unavoidable evolution. If we get to the bottom of things; anything goes as far as it's story and interaction is deep enough.

Dawn of War Way way better as mp then any of the previously mentioned rts-titles. Well, except Starcraft, that is.

Pipe thing was the only thing I hated in IWDs and BG 2. Always, after the initial start wandering; you'd have to take on an epic quest which would be composed of half the games length, giving no option of returning back, or any reason whatsoever. I mean; you think something would happen after you're absent for several weeks?

The personalities aren't exaclty the most original ones, however. Although, there's quite a lot of choice when choosing members. This doesn't show very well from the demo, though. There's only 3 members and 3 pets available.
