Going by the previews, which I admit can be making rather outrageous claims, AP is shaping up to have the largest amount of choice and consequence in any game released this decade. And that's a lot. I'm assured that Obsidz will deliver on the rpg department, and I'm happy they are taking some distances from endless D&D tables and numbers.

Some time ago, some of us agreed to use "jifascist" when speaking about terror caused in the name of Islam instead of "jihadist" to differentiate between someone who supports, lives in or/and wages a Jihad and someone who abuses Islamic institution, law and religion in order to justify terrorism, etc. Is this correct, Walsh?

Stealth in Alpha Protocool
Musopticon? replied to Stealthguy1986's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
I'd prefer if the enemies could still spot you even in heavy darkness as long as you'd on their unobstructed line of sight. No standing in a blotch of darkness melding into the shadow, but instead enemy increasing their state of alertness and moving to investigate because they can see your silhouette against a lighter background for instance. And please no enemy awareness indicator: I can appreciate a light gem or a noise meter in a "scalpel" game where stealth is the only option and of paramount importance, such as Thief, but I'd prefer if Alpha Protocol, as a "Swiss army knife" game(aka every approach covered), making you rely on following enemy reactions and on your own environmental awareness to successfully stealth the levels. Creating diversions via hacking, hiding behind low walls, taking the back alley entrance, cutting the lights in a building, or even so-called "crowd stealth" approach, where you stay 'hidden' by being anonymous and blending in with hostiles. By-the-book espionage stuff. In Hitman games crowd stealth was basically the only method you could take to ensure victory. I wouldn't mind seeing it in AP to some extent as well. -

Communion wine is frequently non-alcoholic, or at least very light on spirits. I don't understand why he couldn't just buy quick-yeast(I had to recheck to not write "Yeats, W.B") and fix up some moonshine. I mean, that's what being a bum(read: student) is all about. Uh, not that I know anything about those things, yeah. And thanks to everyone for your care. She was dearly loved and the funeral was great service. In the end, everyone left with smiles on their faces and we tried to mix good memories in with the grief. She would have liked that. Well, today...is a Red Letter D...uh, it's raining.

That's it! It immediately reminded me of something, but I didn't realize that it was HoMM I was thinking. And yes, it looks awesome.

I...well damn, now I'm really hooked.

Thanks, I shall. Skin cancer at the age of 47 is a bitch to take in though.

Yes. I'd venture to add Gears of War 2, NG 2 DLC, Galactrix, DoW ****ing 2, next Yahtzee game, Black Mesa:Source, some Thief fms, particularly La Grenouille Noir, Hinterlands, Prince of Persia 4, Halo prequel fps, Schizoid(today!), Mercenaries 2 definitely, then at least Red Alert 3(Klepacki! Gundam! Bear Rain!) and tentatively Fallout 3. I'll probably end up buying perhaps three of them all, but here's hoping.

I just came from a funeral service. That was one brilliant and lovely person lost. Makes me so ****ing depressed I could cry again. But I don't want to start, I'm too afraid of not being able to finish it. World turns, ashes fall and we pass on. I won't ever forget, ever.

I really like the version from the 3rd Anthology. In fact, it's one of my favorite Beatles tracks.

You could aldo add, for instance, the enemies' mysterious tendency to prop heavy rocks and barrels on rickety scaffolding and then march under them into that list or the fact that there's a fire pit or tons of oil jars without any purpose whatsoever(though the former does serve as illumination), but that wouldn't really change the simple uniqueness of game. Nothing like this mix of swords and sorcery with physics and environmental interactivity had been done before, or since, and they've integrated the traps and environmental knick-knacks or hot spots into the game world a hundred times better than, e.g newer Prince of Persia games ever did(HAY, I THINK I SEE A DAGGER SLOT!!). They're also fresher than(since this is afterall a Source game) certain game series' love of filling nooks and crannies with exploding barrels, gas bottles and deadly projectiles. I've stopped paying attention to plausibility bending over to gameplay long time since, because the combat is visceral, fun and it plain works, which is everything that Arkane hype ever promised. I also mainly play a stealth character, so the instances I do engage in melee are spread out enough that it stays fresh. Too busy backstabbing and freezing undead. The game obviously has flaws, but I'm too caught into the moment to let them bother me. I'll be more critical once I finish the damn thing. It has enslaved me so perfectly that Disciples 2, Kane's Wrath and Stalker just sit on the desk untouched.

A recurring moment of brilliance in Dark Messiah: *goblin comes around the corner* Goblin:"Ae float like e goblin an' sting like e bee! Aiiiiii!" *Sareth boots the goblin's noggin* *Sareth stabs it when it starts to get up* Goblin:"Yuuuu die hjuman!" Sareth:"lol no u" swish-swish-swah Goblin:"Run AWAYYY" *goblin turns and runs* *Sareth throws his dagger into air, catches it, flings it into goblin* Goblin flesh: "shtump" *body rolls down a flight of stairs and tackles the next few goblins into a pile* Mus: *a series of expletives and hollas* Well, besides the absolutely gripping combat(which is bound to become tedious at some point, just not yet), the level design is particularly brilliant in this game. Over the Sea of Blood(and Dead Man's Trail as well) was a good start, but Temple of the Spider and The Spider Statue are some of the best woo levels ever in any game. Arkane really outdid themselves, Project Offset has to try considerably hard to match the example these French fellows have set. Also, Goblin Garrett is back, lol.

Cleaning Women - Jungle Fever AVAILABLE FROM JUNGLE STATION FOR EVERYONE OF JUNGLE NATION

I'll make sure there's no stinking midgets in my party. But damn, Swashbuckler is a great choice. Fits the ruthless trading and jungle piracy quite nicely. But nevermind the new classes and races, that idea of using crafting to mold ship parts into weapons, skills reflecting on the environment and choices, is one of the hallmarks of Obsidz and it's great to see they remain committed to that synergy.
-
You know, the Trigens weren't exactly a big part of the Far Cry marketing back then, jungle combat against heavily armed mercs was. There's no guarantee that this game will be completely without woo*. Maybe they just want to keep it secret, is all. *supernatural thingamajigs(ttlg lingo)

Gears was great on co-op mode. That's all I care about. And the fact that they've added the best-looking flamethrower since the Wolfenstein remake one.
