  1. Diablo= dungeon crawl. No? Maybe I used the term diablo-clone a bit loosely. Sorry for offending any IWD-fans.
  2. Once upon a time there was a game developing company called Looking Glass Studios. This company was much loved by both it's fans and it's workers. LGS was one of those pioneer-companies, threading through un-trekked grounds of new game concepts and in the process put out some of the most memorable games ever. Such as, Terra Nova, Ultima Underworld, System Shock, THIEF. Then there was a little boy, only 11 years old who was instantly stunned by the sheer genious of the Thief Series. He woved to be a supporter and a fan for LGS forever. Then came the end. Looking Glass was just putting the finishing touches to the gold edition of one of their best games, Thief 2. They never had the time to finish it, as their publisher, Eidos closed the studio, giving their support to the recently well-doing Ion Storm Dallas, in hopes to get the most hyped after PC-game, Daikatana ready. Ion Storm flourished, LGS died. Most of the fans were dumbstruck as their flagship of hope sunk down. The little boy almost cried. There would be no more Thiefs. Then, two yeasr or so later, a shard of hope struck the long-forgotten chords of hope in the souls of LGS-fans. System Shock 2 had been a blast, but there was the sub-group of fans, including the little boy, yearning after more adventures in the semi-steampunkish world of Thief. They were not forgotten, as the Thief series were given green light: Development of Thief 3 was given to Ion Storm Austin. Daikatana had been a let-down, but Deus Ex had bombed, so it came as no-surprise that the gaming community was ready for a new intelligent FPS. Years went by, and the little boy wasn't so little anymore. Thief 3 had been in development well over 3 years now, and screenshots had been starting to surface, showing a clever use of shadows, and a thing which would ultimately be the game's let-down: Console-compatibility. Many fans moaned in loathing, as the more and more news of new "features" came up. Swimming, rope-arrows, steampunk-robots; all of these were missing. With their loss came the new, very-gamey-like additions. Many were convinced that the Ion Stormers, many of whom were old-LGS-members, were sellouts. Not the little boy. A wov was a wov. Then came the day when the little boy finally got the long-waited successor of the sneaker-series. It bombed. It rocked. It scared the crap out of the boy. It wasn't a let-down, but the boy still put it away and returned to the old Thief's. Why? Too much hype, too many spoilers, too little replayability. And no Thief3ED. The boy was a little sad, as Ion Storm flew out of the door. By the same reason as LGS: Too small commercial success. Eidos was a rough publisher. Sparks of hope still lingered, though. Maybe there would still be an editor for Thief 3? The little boy could only hope. Thankfully, LGS's legacy lives on in the form of Irrational, Floodgate and Rust Monkey.
  3. IWD1 was a rush job? How so? You didn't like the hack'n'slash-aspect of the game? If you don't know yet, it was sort of ment to be a D&D-Diablo-clone, not a BG-like CRPG-epic.
  4. http://www.gamershell.com/screenpop.php?id=8646 After seeing what I think as the best screen ever in PC games, I've convinced myself to buy this supposedly gem-of-a-game. Judging by everything I've seen this ame just oozes atmosphere. And is dirt cheap after these three years. I found it for 10 euros in a bargain bin. A must-buy for myself, but what do you fellow forumers think about this game? I'd like to see some comments, please.
  5. But you're just a pool of poo. Not entitled to your opinion.
  6. There are some notable old Lookin Glass-members in Irrational. *hint* *hint*
  7. Way faster than Bioboards, so no. It doesn't feel slow to me.
  8. Vesselle:~wobbly are the walls of my mind~ VtM:Bloodlines?
  9. Somebody has spent too much time with Something Awful Forum goons. Those guys are just too damn insane to hold the powers of Great Photoshop. Long live Internet.
  10. I signed. For Great Justice! Uwie should make a movie based on Zero Wing
  11. I love PS:T too much to ever play it againg. I don't want to find any errors, wich is bound to happen with several playtroughs. I'm too much a fanboy
  12. I think that, and please bear with me here, this is just an opinion, that the ones who make the tests know how easy it is for a normal person to get bored. This could be one of the reasons why they make their tests so tedious: Who cares if you have an IQ of 160+, but still have an attention span of a SW-fanboy.
  13. That too <_<
  14. Yes, one of the very oldest WOT threads (started by Mr. Teatime iirc) and gender confusion was still perfectly possible <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sounds...odd.
  15. Hahhaah A rather unknown fact about vikings: They were afraid of Finns. Vikings didn't make alot of raids to early FInland, because Finns were known to be whitches and foul ones at that. We lived in black forests full of spirits and sung odd songs bearing animal bones. No warrior wanted to anger a whitch, hoping he wouldn't curse him. This of course changed a bit when christianity took part.
  16. What I ment was the fact, that Chick tracts have been a source of endless snickering and continuous talk in internet messageboards, AOL, Ygroups, etc. To put it bluntly, the things you said about it are already kinda obvious even to the dimmest poster. No offence.
  17. This topic has made me do the good old "push F5 repeatedly until someone makes a post"-action. Which is a good sign in a forum. I think I'll stay.
  18. "Nederlands ziet er tenminste normaal uit, zonder al die aparte tekens, maar helaas begrijpen jullie hier toch niks van, dus gaat het helemaal nergens om." No, not at all. Dutch isn't horrible it's just wierd.
  19. Rosbjerg, there's really nothing wrong with danish in paper, sort of an archaic form of swedish. It's the spoken stuff I'm abhoring. Bleah. Like talking swedish with a hot potato in your mouth. And I understood what you wrote, so n
  20. Agree totally. Dark Sun is one of the most unknown and obcure settings of D&D(along with Spelljammer, but who would like to play there?) and I think it should be given more coverage. Ditto with the Planescape game too.
  21. Turpa kiinni. We can't. Danish is even more horrifying.
  22. Got to agree with ol' Volourn here. So bad it makes me almost laugh. Edit: Perkele, wrong smilie
  23. I think you all need to go out and have a breath of fresh air. I can almost smell rapid fanboyism through circuitry. (and before anyone fails at a saving throw against irritation; I'm a fan too, just not so lunatic as the most here seem to be)
