  1. Haha. I'm actually doing something that I'm not supposed to do which is why it's creating that effect. I was doing panoramic shots all day and decided to do something complety different and that's how I stumbled onto the 'blocky characters' effect.
  2. I was in China last month playing around with my camera making weird pictures by capturing people as block characters. The photos haven't been photoshopped or manipulated in anyway. It's just one photo being taken while I do a vertical panoramic shot. The background is okay but the people at the front turn into block characters.
  3. Watched Chronicle last night. Thought it was a good movie except for the shaky cam. I wished they would get rid of the shaky cam technique. Very hard to pull off and do it right imo.
  4. The latest episode I was a little disappointed with the Shadow Creature. The last episode built it up at the end. This episode, it happened so quick and was all over in a couple of seconds. Maybe I was expecting a bit more.
  5. I thought it was maybe to highlight the difference between Joffrey and normal teenage boys. A normal male teenager would dream of having two young women in his bed, whereas it showed Joffrey to be a downright psychopath. Although disturbing, the scene showed this very well.
  6. I'm reading The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governer. About 1/3 the way through it and it's great. I like how it ties into the comic although you don't see Rick's group, the events usually happen just before Rick's group turns up at certain points. Little things that you see in the comic are explained in the book. Great stuff.
  7. I'm in China at the moment and it's interesting to see what the Great Firewall blocks out. Seems Facebook is blocked from it's citizens. The Chinese government is actually doing something good for their people.
  8. Watched the Norwegian film Dead Snow last night which was surprisingly good. Although I was expecting a lot worse. Here's the summary from imdb. A ski vacation turns horrific for a group of medical students, as they find themselves confronted by an unimaginable menace: Nazi zombies.
  9. One of the guys in our D&D group emailed this video from Youtube to the rest of our group. Great Stuff. Edit: It's a parody of the song Like a G6 by Far East Movement.
  10. Found out this morning Elisabeth Sladen has passed away due to cancer. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-13137674 I grew up on watching the last season of Jon Pertwee and all of the Tom Baker run and the first season of Peter Davison, so she was the first companion I came across. Didn't know she was that old. Not too many around now from the first three doctors. I'm usually not that emotional when actors/actoress pass but this one is definitely sad. For those of us of a certain age this is an axe blow to the roots.
  11. That's a great movie. Especially when they're taking stuff off each other and other companies. Apple takes the mouse from Xerox, Windows takes the gui from Apple, etc. And the differences and power play between the two. Haven't watched it in years but have been meaning to watch it again.
  12. True Grit (2010). Good movie. Liked it and had a nice ending. Though, I think I prefer the original with John Wayne. I should go back and watch the original in case I'm seeing things through rose coloured glasses.
  13. I didn't see any Christian theme in it. If anything it was buddhism but more in line with spirituality in general with all the books Flynn had on his bookcase. The religious subtext is even more so in the first movie such as when the old guy says to Dillinger that their (the programmers) spirits are in every program they create. And Dillinger says he doesn't want to have religious discussions with him. There are numerous examples. There was always a religious subtext to the original Tron in how the Programmers were regarded with respect to the Programs. It doesn't change that there is a creator & creation angle in both movies. I felt Tron Legacy deflected the spritiual side of things better than the first movie given the post modern times we live in.
  14. Some more: 4400. Needed a 5th Season to wrap it all up. Caprica. BSG prequel and cancelled after the first season. Crusade. The sequel to Babylon 5 meant to run for 5 seasons, only to be cancelled halfway through Season 1. Dark Angel. Cancelled after two seasons and no wrap up. They did jump the shark with releasing all the X experiments/failures though. Dollhouse. Should have had more episodes. Ending felt a bit rushed. Farscape. Wrapped up with the Peacekeaper Wars but really needed the 5th Season to tie it up properly. Flash Forward. Needed another season. Heroes. Was a trainwreck but the Season finale in the 4th Season is unresolved. Jericho. Cancelled halfway through the Second season. New Amsterdam. An highlander type show with an immortal as the central character, cancelled halfway through the first season. Persons Unknown. Great show similar to The Prisoner, cancelled after one season. And what about that Season finale? We'll never know what happens. Rubicon. A thought provoking political thriller. Cancelled after 1 season. Sarah Connor Chronicles. Season 2 was a shocker in the middle but came good in the end. Needed a 3rd season to wrap it all up. Stargate SG-1/Stargate Atlantis/Stargate Universe. Should have had one last season to wrap it up properly. Terriers. Cancelled after one season. Traveler. An excellent conspiracy-drama. Two Uni students hunted by the FBI after a bombing of a museum. Their only lead is their best friend, Will Traveler, who disappeared after the bombing and is not in any record - anywhere. Cancelled after 8 episodes.
  15. It's more the opposite. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/j...bducted/?page=1
  16. Tron Legacy. Was not disappointed. Great stuff. Huge fan of the first movie and now the same with the second.
  17. Nope, doesn't work.
  18. Merry Christmas.
  19. China says "all your Internets belong to us" They're only catching up to the US, who currently does these things more discreetly.
  20. Actually, it gets better especially in Seasons 8, 9 and 10 when they have quite a few superhero groups like the semi-formed JLA as well as the JSA, Legion and the Suicide Squad. Probably the worse season would be Season 1 as there are only about 5 episodes worth watching while the rest are just Monster of the Week episodes.
  21. I just did a marathon session and finished watching Smallville Seasons 1-9 as well as the current episodes in Season 10 over the last 4 weeks. Been blown away by all the characters from the DC Universe that have shown up. The origin of some of the characters are not exactly like the comics, but still good to see nonetheless. Of course there's the usual Lex Luthor and Lois Lane that have appeared. But other characters that have shown up have been Lana Lang, Pete Ross, Lucy Lane, Supergirl, Justice League of America, Martian Manhunter, Legion of Superheroes (Cosmic Boy, Lighting Lad, Saturn Girl, Braniac 5), Mr Mxyzptlk, Krypto the Dog, Bizarro, Rick Flag, Deadshot, the Suicide Squad, the JSA (Dr Fate, Star Spangled Kid, Sandman, Hawkman, Green Lantern, Wildcat), Aquaman and Mera, Metallo, Toyman. Elastic Lad (shown as Pete Ross but should have been Jimmy Olsen), Green Arrow, Black Canary, Bart Allen (Impulse), Doomsday, Cyborg, Zan and Jayna (the wonder twins), Maxima, Plastique, Darkseid, Desaad, Silver Banshee, etc. Also mentioning Batman and Wonder Woman even though they don't appear in person. I'm sure I've missed a few, but still Brilliant!
  22. Incorrect. In reality, most people in Western Countries live in a police state, and are completely unaware of it. There is little difference between tyranny in governments, no matter where it may be. For example, the people of Poland: * cannot drive without licenses * are required to register their cars * cannot build on their land without government approval * are compelled to buy insurance * must show identification papers upon demand * have a portion of their wages taken away * have ports of entry which compel them to stop, clear and pay duties * are subject to searches on their highways * may be arbitrarily taken into custody and fingerprinted without court order The list goes on. It makes no difference where you may be located; citizens of any country who are so constrained are not free, but living under tyranny. It matters not whether we think we have it somehow "better" than the Poles. Both systems are tyrannical in nature, the only difference being the degree of tyranny applied and the understanding of the system by the citizens. The Poles understand that they live in tyranny, while people in other Western countries have been convinced that it can't happen here, even though it has already come to pass. We recognize tyranny in foreign countries, but in our own, we refer to it as "law and order." But a police state by any other name is still a police state.
  23. And Western countries don't oppress their people? Can you show me a Western Country where the people are free and not oppressed by degrees of tyranny.
  24. Hahahahahahahahahaha! Go on, fly to China, try and stay there for a while and discuss or encourage violence or terrorism. You can discuss violence and terrorism. I know because I went to China last year and did just that with people there. However, I don't understand why you would want to encourage violence and terrorism.
