  1. Krezack, the problem with a lot of scientists and their 'predictions' is that a lot of their predictions have not only been false but the complete opposite to what's happened. Lets take Australia for example and the Climate Commissioner idiot extraordinaire Tim Flannery. - In 2005, Flannery predicted Sydney's dams could be dry in as little as two years because global warming was drying up the rains, leaving the city "facing extreme difficulties with water". - In 2007, Flannery predicted cities such as Brisbane would never again have dam-filling rains, as global warming had caused "a 20 per cent decrease in rainfall in some areas" and made the soil too hot, "so even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and river systems ... ". - In 2007, Flannery predicted global warming would so dry our continent, that desalination plants were needed to save three of our biggest cities from disaster. - In 2008, Flannery said: "The water problem is so severe for Adelaide that it may run out of water by early 2009." - In 2009, Flannery said, ’In the minds of a lot of people, the rainfall we had in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s was a benchmark. A lot of our [water and agriculture] planning was done during that time. But we are just not going to have that sort of good rain again as long as the system is warming up.’’ The reality is that not only did the rain came, it filled all our dams. And we've wasted billions and continue to waste millions on desalination plants while our dams are full. A great source of continued wasted money by the alarmists. There's a famous poem you might know... I love a sunburnt country, A land of sweeping plains, Of ragged mountain ranges, Of droughts and flooding rains. Trying to say in exact terms what's going to happen in two, three, five or twenty years like Flannery has done is not only foolish, but idiotic. And this is coming from so called 'scientists'. It's not the non-scientists giving out ludicrous misinformation. The scientists are doing a fine job of doing that themselves. Here's another quote from Flannery: - In 2012, Flannery said, "Even if all the world today stopped emitting CO2, it would take probably 1000 years to maybe affect global temperature if any." Krezack, How much CO2 do humans produce on Earth and how much is produced naturally? Now I'm not a climate change denialist because the climate does change, hence 'climate change'. So please don't brand me as some denialist or other, because scientists should be questioning and examining the facts, and not be in the business of 'believing doomsday prophecies predictions'. Is it any wonder there is so much misinformation out there from climate scientists that you have so many different viewpoints on the topic.
  2. I wouldn't mind seeing the Thrawn trilogy (Heir to the Empire) made into movies. Also the comics, Dark Empire was good too.
  3. Hard to list all my favourite shows into just seven but here's some of my favourites. Alfred Hitch**** Presents: Brilliant episodes usually ends with a twist Dr Who: Classic TV show that's great to watch again and again with memorable actors that played the Doctor. Fawlty Towers: Funniest comedy ever Magnum PI: Would love drive a Ferrari and live in Hawaii. The Equalizer: Edward Woodward. Another brilliant UK actor. Babylon 5: Favourite Sci-Fi Story with a beginning, middle and end as it should be. Game of Thrones: One of my favourite 'new series' with medievel fantasy done right.
  4. Me and my ilk? Nice attack there and with no substance. I live in the real world. I haven't denied anything. Price of food goes up? Demand goes down? Strange concept there. What about wage increases? Inflation? No, just ignore those things. For example, you go to a Sandwich Bar and notice the cost of a sandwich has increased by 50c and you think, 'eh, maybe inflation'. But that increase could have come from the cost of coal fired electricity going up for the Sandwich bar. The Sandwich Bar has passed on the Carbon Tax to you through your sandwich. How is that extra cost going to curb your spending? The GST was introduced back in 2000 to replace Sales Tax. Some food is GST free and some food has GST on it. Did that curb people's spending to buy more GST Free food? No, it had no effect on people's spending habits. The same will apply to the Carbon Tax. The only difference is you don't know what the Carbon Tax is affecting. I would say it's affecting everything. Is the increase in cost of items (eg. sandwich) due to the Carbon Tax, wages, inflation, etc? Nice dream world there. How is people going to change their spending habits when the more polluting items cost less than pollution free items. And again with the unfounded attackes. So if I question something, I don't care about global warning? LMAO. Good stuff. Nice strawman. Yep, we should never question anything!!! You've obviously never been to China. Krezack, you've obviously missed the points of my posts. I'm not against something meaningful to stop global warming, climate change, etc. What I'm against is idiot things like a Carbon Tax that doesn't do anything excpet cause prices to rise. Most people will always go for the cheapest items regardless of whether it's polluting or not.
  5. No one has come forward to explain how Australia's Carbon Tax helps the environment or Climate change. Doing something has to have meaning. How is it better to do something just so 'you appear to be doing something' that doesn't do anything for the climate? No one has come forward and shown, Carbon Tax = less emissions. My work hasn't changed their ways and continue to do as they've done in the past. I still drive a petrol car because it's cheaper than buying a hybrid car. I still use a similar amount of electricity that I did last year. Nothing has changed for me and thousands of people. Australia still exports coal and other minerals to China and other countries to fuel their economies. So while Australia might take the moral high ground in saying, 'we're doing something', we're really not doing anything and still contributing to other countries (like China) in polluting the planet.
  6. Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story. DId you know the Falkland Islands puts out more CO2 transmissions than Australia and has done so since 1990 on a per capita basis? Quick! we must beat the Falkland Islands into submission and get them to introduce a Carbon emissions trading scheme and curb their Climate Change criminality. Also, has the Carbon Tax changed anything in Australia except make things more expensive? Nope. The polluters just passed on the carbon tax to the consumers.
  7. Lucky Australia put their Carbon Tax in this year. Australia just saved itself against Climate change.
  8. You're retiring and going to a retirement home soon LadyCrimson?
  9. I remember the Pumpkin party too. Also, would be good to hear on how tarna is holding up.
  10. Similar thing happened with an Australian teenager last year. http://news.yahoo.com/australian-teen-freed-bali-drug-detention-055013290.html You would think they wouldn't do anything with drugs, especially in a country with harsh laws.
  11. My grey cat sleeps on his back and would like to know the purpose of this.
  12. That's sad about tarna. Same with you Sargy, seeing Visc smiling made me smile and sad at the same time. I've always wondered what happened to the rest of the guys.
  13. Yeah, a lot of names I'd forgotten about.
  14. I noticed Imoen made a post on the Baldurs Gate Forums a couple of days ago. I assume it's the same Imoen. http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/5177/anyone-here-from-the-old-black-isle-boards#latest
  15. Since I pre-ordered the Baldurs Gate Enhanced Edition, I've been reading the old avatar series and wanted to go back to where it all began. Have finished Shadowdale and Tantras and now reading Waterdeep. Haven't read these since the early 90s. A lot of small things I'd fogotten and it's great reading a low level adventuring party and knowing what they eventually become.
  16. I was thinking the same as Raithe. They probably had a plan to retire, made a deal with EA to continue with their studio and were waiting for their agreement and stock options to vest as the EA acquisition was 5 years ago next month. They deserve a well earned rest imo.
  17. Great memory. I would never have remembered his name. That was funny back then and the whole community was in an uproar over that. I remember taking a screen shot of the incident as well. Wouldn't be surprised if I still had it stored with some old files that I have. More than likely I've lost it. I was debating whether to comeback and decided to after a couple of months. But I mostly lurk now.
  18. I remember posting about 20 posts on Missy's Lair and then stopped posting altogether due to moving to another state with the job I had at the time. Three years later I changed jobs, moved back home to Sydney and noticed Missy's Lair was gone. Would've been good if there was a database stored somewhere from the old BIS forums. There was some great stuff on it. I've mellowed out since the BIS forums. When looking back, one thing I realise now is the years of arguments by the forumites in the Poltical Forum pretty much amounted to nothing.
  19. Wasn't that Missy's Lair?
  20. I remember when the BIS boards were closed and went to the new Interplay board, and some Interplay employee decided to get the ban hammer out or something like that. Fun times.
  21. I remember the Dargoth vs Yrkoon threads in the Ye Olde Political forum.
  22. The world didn't blow up. So I guess everything is okay.
  23. Got around to watching John Carter with the gf. We both loved it. Fun action movie. I had to tell the gf who Edgar Rice Burroughs was as she's never heard of him before.
  24. Yes. Apparently, Sylvester Stallone is quoted on aint-it-cool with this quote '...it was explained to me by the writer is you hold two seashells like chopsticks, pull gently and scrape what
  25. Photos I took of Dolphins racing alongside our boat at Milford Sound New Zealand. 11th Sep 2010. Girlfriend looking on in the last photo.
