Celebrating episode III: Kyla's fanart
grphiw replied to Kyla Carth's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You're a very good artist, the interpretations and style is some of the best I've seen in a long time (and I go to a arts-intensive school). There are two things, however, that are minor issues but could potentially make your art even better. Although you only posted one picture of a female Revan, facially she looks very similar to the Exile, especially the jaw and nose. The hair is obviously different, but if you were to put them side by side with similar hair styles, they would look nearly identical. My second point is the Exile has a certain manish quality to her when she looks upset. Perhaps that's on purpose, because it certainly gets the point across. My suggestion for both points is actually more slightly roundings to her face (women's faces actually tend to have a more rounded aspect then men's). -
Possible to get DS Mastery AND Mira?
grphiw replied to Catt's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I don't know if this'll work, I haven't tried it yet, but... If you do just enough quests with Light Side outcomes on Nar Shadaa to initate the Red Sun slavers, then you can go and get Mira. When you get back, except for the Bith quest, you should be able to do them all with dark side outcomes, especially the refugee sector. -
I ran into an interesting bug, intentional or not, when learning how to fight against Handmaiden. It was the third tier of combat, and strangely enough the cargo hold door was open. I quickly knocked all her health away, but she kept taking damage, as did I. The game registered damage against her, and her health bar had drained away to nothing, but she would not seem to stop. I figured I would let her win and she proceeded to hit my character repeatedly, but then I did not run out of health either. I was always left with 1 VP left despite the Handmainden's attacks repeatedly hitting. I repeated this several times, only ending when I drew a lightsaber or used a force power (in other words, broke the rules). When I left the ship and reboarded, the third tier worked normally and we resumed normal conversation, where she became a jedi. Has anyone else run into this bug?

Bringing her along and showing people mercy or being kind is another way to gain influence easily. However, this may not be so easy if you're on the dark side and want to keep your Dark Side Mastery...

One thing I found odd about Nar Shaddaa
grphiw replied to PlagueWielder's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
One theoretical argument is the Exile is trying to keep a low profile while searching for the Jedi Master. With the Exchange in hot pursuit, the smart place would be to search where the Ebon Hawk, could go unnoticed for a while, a relatively difficult task considering where she has been. Rather than attracting a lot of attention, the Exile could land in a rather empty part of the Refugee Sector and start searching there. -
I too agree that the ending was a bit weak, but it was not particuarly bad. Think about a lot of games now: how many good endings do we see? Besides, the fun part is supposed to be getting to the ending, not the actual ending itself.

Just out of curiousity, why would an energy shield stop a vibroblade? Personally I think its easier just to invest in Finesse Vibroblades for any character who uses blasters. Blasters require dexterity, and rather than have to concentrate on strength too if an enemy gets too close, why not just use the same bonus for defense and blasters? It's only one feat, and it's immensely useful. Or, if you really feel like using up feats, just get Master Close-Quarters Combat. It essentially eliminates any advantange they have over Atton with a vibroblade vs. a blaster.

Does This Make The Exile Stronger Then Revan?
grphiw replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Go A Team! Kidding aside, I'd have to agree that Revan would be stronger, but for different reasons. I get the feeling that the Exile is somewhat of a cross between Revan and Malak: force strong vs. battle strong. The Exile was a General during the Mandalorian wars, obviously showing his strength down on the battlefield, sort of like Malak. But unlike Malak, the Exile was able to influence troops with force bonds, sort of like Revan (except Revan was a more charismatic type, supposedly). However, Revan obviously killed Malak, so I suspect he would be able to beat the Exile, but not quite with the same ease. Just a thought. -
Game Reviewers taking bribes to boost scores...
grphiw replied to drcloak's topic in Computer and Console
I'd bet you'd lose that bet that he'd lose his bet. -
I've only had time to play the game once, so I'm no expert on the topic but I believe all light side jedis after a certain point get Force Enlightenment, which

I have no background in translated games, but just as a logistic suggestion, the game may still keep the audio files in English/various alien languages, but the subtitles at the bottom may be rewritten. Considerably faster, and all you need is an army of translators.

Do You Think Revan Deserved A Second Chance?
grphiw replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
What Kreia says is up to you to deceipher. You have to pick out the truth among the lies. There's no real rule to go with. It's like the old George Carlin joke: THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT IS TRUE. THE PREVIOUS STATEMENT IS FALSE. You have to pick what you want to believe in. Like life, in that regard. -
HOW DO I MAKE PARTY INTO JEDIS???

If you want more help, you probably should ask this in the spoiler forum. -
Master Fury different in KOTOR2
grphiw replied to Exar Ganis's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I don't recall a fury feat or power being in KoTOR 1. Perhaps you are thinking of flurry? The game mechanics, I think, are a little different, although I can't pinpoint what exactly; I don't know enough about d20 games. I have also noticed that I miss more frequently, although that maybe because of my lightsaber construction. -
Hanharr is the Colonel Kurtz of KOTOR
grphiw replied to Ivan the Terrible's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Conrad's Heart of Darkness, my good man. I know you all know that Apocalypse Now was based on that book, right? Read it...it's so much better. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I knew it was based on that story, though it's set in the American civil war or something isn't it? I tend not too read, unless I need to sometihng to do while I am lying in the sun <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oy, that just hurts... American Civil War? Try Africa. Personally I keep hoping the walking shag carpets will burst into flaming hairballs when they step on my plasma mines. Something about watching a wookie burn appeals to me at some basic level. Might have to make do with hippies in real life, however... :D -
Another problem if you live somewhere where it gets cold during the winter is roaches. It's a real problem: they like heat, and the side vents on the xbox give off quite a bit of it. So for the winter they take up residence in the xbox. Might want to give it a shake sometime, see if anything falls out...

Storyline Board, but no spoilers=huh?
grphiw replied to Mars's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Perhaps you are thinking of Malachor? Mandalore is the title of the leader of the Mandalorians, like the title Cesar was the leader of the Romans. -
The doors, I suspect, are exits to other parts of the level that were removed in the final game. Rather than redesign the whole map, Obisidian probably just changed the coding of the door so you could never open it. Consider it being really realistic: there's never a bathroom in sight, but people obviously need one. Therefore doors lead to them, but you just aren't allowed to go there. Scenery, in other words.

Revan, I believe, would hold the rank of admiral, because throughout both games he is mentioned for brilliance in fleet tactics, not ground manuevers. Malak would likely hold the rank of general, because in the first game he is noted for his superior fighting skills. But Malak is obviously dead, and the exile isn't... yet.

Well, the romance for male characters also had a certain homicidal pattern to it: Visas was sent to kill the PC, Mira threatens to kill the PC in one conversation, and the Handmaiden wants to fight you. Talk about tough love, eh?
-
Personally I prefer Mira because she's better with ranged weaponry. I have all the skills, so I never need to find a public workbench to bring other characters to: I do it all myself on the Ebon hawk. Bao-Dur has to work at using blasters; Mira inherently uses them. And I like to have one melee fighter, a technical jedi (me) and a ranged fighter as a team to keep flexibility. Mira obviously fits the bill as the ranged fighter.
-
Unfortunately, unless you have an autosave prior to your save, you're kind of stuck with starting over. Don't be afraid about mixing up multiple PC you create, Obsidian did the smart thing and allow you to divide up saves via the PC. Press X to cycle through. Very helpful.

hanharr - most intelligent wookie ever?
grphiw replied to clef74's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Move over Bao-Dur, "Let the Wookie win." -
Have any of you heard That one is really funny <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Pray tell. I'd love to hear what he had to say.

Goto man or machine?
grphiw replied to The Swedish Dark Lord III's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I suspected that as much when I was watching, mainly from the fact that it resembled the Wizard of Oz question (Who is the man behind the curtain? Not a man, in this case). How much influence do you need to get in order to hear his little secret?
