Now this is what I call hype...

Yeah, I finally found a reviewer who has earned my respect! -
Why is the NWN2 modding scene so.... meh?

I wouldn't mod NWN2... It'd be a waste of bloody time! -

If you'd played the game to completion you would probably find that statement laughable. Bioshock -

I wouldn't argue with anything you're saying. Oh it's all gravy to me man, I was under the impression that NWN2 is Aurora, but with the Electron render engine... Most of the engines issues are legacy. I wouldn't say that EITHER are hard, but if you was a total n00b, you really can get something going quicker in the NWN's engine, that doesn't mean it is inherantly better, or easier to use for feature X. Aye, a mod tool, which ironically appears to be one of the many reasons the damn game runs like a crack badger, and toolset the crack badgers wife, is KNOWN for currupting mod files. Now, it isn't a bad mod tool, its very good, but I'd never use it for a project... -

Why bother using the NWN2 engine? I mean it's not as easy to grasp as the NWN's engine for the n00bs, so no dice there, and its not as stable either. It may hit the nice kinda middle ground of seasoned modder, which is fine, more quality, fewer quantity. But its engine, its the kind of thing that gives one nightmares, crawling along like some kinda crippled crack badger... And I suppose the toolset is more akin to the crack badgers harlot of a wife who whores herself for coin... She keeps winding up missing, looses a few teeth, but she occasionally brings home the goods. That said NWN2 is a fine game! But that has more to do with the designers and artists than the codebase, but I don't blame obsidian for that, they've tried to clean up the old crack badger best they could for the job interview. I blame Bioware. -
Even I am tempted by ME, and I generally hate Bio's latest stuff...

Too true... thanks Pop!

Killed myself in 2:20 :D

Its EA. I wouldn't go near it if they were paying me to take a copy.

Throwing sand blindfolded into a soundproof room... AMAZING idea, why didn't I think of it eh?
-
I thought Atari had it already by default.

I can live with that. Say nothing about a game, beyond that it is being made, till you reach the three month mark of its release then do a blitzkrieg of advertisements, interviews, and whatnot. That's sorta the problem, alot can change in 3 months, you'd probably not be able to really talk about a game properly until its gone gold, which is sort of the case now.
-
Are you calling me fat? Yes. Here have a cookie.
-
Although one rank in Shadowdancer or a few in Assassin removes this problem. Hide in Plain SIght is awesome. HIPS is a f***ing joke, it shouldn't even be included its way way way too overpowered, I mean lets face it, it's pretty much invisibility at will.

NWN2 Horses? All companies do this early on in the dev cycle. Which is why they shouldn't say anything about the game til everything is certain. Then nothing would be said about a game for a very long time. Don't buy the hype.

Rule 1. Never but into any hype ever, for anything.

I read the post that this is part of, but I couldn't really tell how your argument was different. Or is the quoted bit saying that it's not good for him to appear so arrogant when he is trying to grab a future in the industry? In which case, I suppose my comments should be retracted. Anyway, "trying to do something original" isn't really good enough. That's exactly what I was saying! Spot on. The problem that folks speak of it a larger problem within the industry, its very difficult to get a publisher, and whatever you think you know about a fantastic original idea you think you have, its probably been knocking around in the industry for a while. It costs money to build a prototype to just try and proove something as fun.
-
I shall say again... I WAS NOT STATING THE WHOLE, "CAN YOU DO BETTER?" ARGUEMENT! Companies usually have drawers full of game ideas, game ideas are not sacred, its actually a matter of the, what sells? Factor. Molyneux, atleast tries to do something somewhat original at times.

To my knowledge Kaftan has been involved in diddly squat.
-
YEAH! Sand what about the werewolf...
-
You didn't, really. Unless you like Shenmue, in which case, you have my sympathies. Seriously, what the **** is this. I did actually get to see the game, and I read alot about it. I didn't rate it highly seemed like a huge waste of money.
-
The "lets see you do better" argument is an automatic fail. No. It's not a "Lets see you do better" argument. First I asked what Kaftan's achievements were, this is an innocent and honest question. There was no malice in it, it wasn't a trick question, I was merely curious of Kaftans overall "experience" of games development. After which I continued to assert that Peter had achieved more, simple fact from my perspective. Then I continue by saying that Kaftens analysis is well founded, and that its a good thing to do, but his personal vendetta against Peter damages is opinions and makes him appear arrogant, and that's perhaps not a good thing to do considering his current level of involvement in the industry.
-
Yeah Sand, atleast you tried them... So open minded for you LOL.... You're right though even hardcore FPS fans I know don't rate it. I certainly don't see it as anything but sub-par, nice story I suppose, but the story isn't the game.

Never wanted one, never really played one, never really felt like I missed out on anything.
