  1. the notion o' paying to increase post counts is absurd. on the other hand, we might consider paying to reduce our post count. is kinda a barometer o' shame, no? HA! Good Fun!
  2. you may have a point. unlike the fan base, the developers may have gratifying rl encounters that make them unable to empathize with their fans. perhaps the developers see the typical rushed and juvenile crpg romance arc as a kinda creepy autoerotic endeavour. because o' their lives, the developers might have concluded that while they could sympathize with their keyboard fondling fans, they could not genuine empathize enough to makes a crpg romance that would be anything other than embarrassing. is more than a few movie and tv comedic moments wherein a character is caught pleasuring themselves. as a developer, creating a crpg romance would be a morbid embarrassing scenario we can hardly imagine as it would be more akin to being caught while awkwardly aiding literal thousand o' folks to pleasure themselves. ... gross. yes, one does wonder at what kinda developer would wanna create a crpg romance. *shudder* HA! Good Fun!
  3. warning: if you do not like the taste of jolly rancher watermelon flavoured hard candy, you might as well skip the kool-aid, 'cause the kool-aid tastes pretty much like liquid jolly rancher watermelon candy. aside: what is that with accepted candy flavours not tasting anything like the the fruit they is named for? grape? green apple? watermelon? ain't never tasted a grape candy or gum that had even the most remote similarity to any real grape we had ever tasted. HA! Good Fun!
  4. see above. the developers clear did not expect that players would hit level 10 before the end o' act 2. there is no level 10 content in act 2. if it were s'posed to take a die-hard completionist to reach level 12 in the final area o' the game, then level 10 at dyrford were not envisioned. the level 10 content is in the next act, by which point you will likely be level 11 or 12. and yeah, you can push further into the endless paths to find level appropriate challenges, which will provide a few more superb weapons/gear and give you even more xp... which will make act 3 easier. even so, if you do have freedom to choose which areas to uncover in a game, then w/o scaling (which the grognards vehemently refuse) you will have dyrford situations where you run into content that clear is more appropriate for a much lower level party. is unavoidable. as an aside, there is some limited scaling in poe. according to the developers, a few unique encounters will scale a bit to match player levels. however, we have only noticed one obvious case o' scaling in our multiple runs. HA! Good Fun! ps obsidian's misunderstanding 'bout xp progression is particular confusing in light of josh comments on a seeming tangential issue: kill xp. when josh announced that obsidian were looking into adding bestiary, lock, and so-called exploration xp, some folks balked 'cause o' the perceived waste o' developer man hours required to do all the work to add balanced xp gains from multiple new sources. josh gave multiple reasons why adding token bestiary xp were no big deal and one such reason were that the developers had detailed and clear knowledge o' all possible xp awards in each area o' the game. if X amount o' trap xp and exploration xp were gonna be made available in area Y, then it were a simple matter to adjust corresponding objective xp. because o' developers having such a complete and detailed picture o' xp awards in poe, making changes would be painless. so, regardless o' the community feelings regarding xp grants other than objective xp, obsidian developers thought they had a firm grasp on the kinda xp players could get from poe. they were wrong.
  5. on the off-chance you is genuine interested, in the sacramento area, the only major store that reliably carries watermelon kool-aid is walmart. no safeway. no bel-air/raleys. no savemart. no anybody other than walmart. HA! Good Fun!
  6. revert perception back to its early beta incarnation would be a terrible error... though kinda amusing. before accuracy were removed from perception, the beta backers, near universal, observed that perception were disproportionate important in the attribute scheme. 'course when perception got nerfed, there were a curious howl o' anguish that the developers had gone ahead and exorcised accuracy from the attributes. people is weird. am not against some kinda alteration to perception. hell, we wouldn't even mind a reintroduction o' accuracy to perception, but it would needs be reduced and am not sure how to do that. 1 point o' accuracy for every two levels... or even three? threshold values for attributes goes against the design philosophy o' poe, so am not seeing an easy way to reintroduce accuracy at a reduced rate. oh well. if accuracy is reintroduced in the next patch, it will be funny to see pervasive hypocrisy regarding respec with the introduction o' 1.07. might be worth it. HA! Good Fun!
  7. s'posedley, one o' the pets were bugged and were resulting in an accuracy boost for the player. am believing that the bug were fixed. alternatively, the bug never existed. *shrug* as noted elsewhere, pets is not intended to have any gameplay significance, though am believing eder has a couple banter dialogues that is pet related. nevertheless, we always "equip" the black hound as we still feel the loss o' bg3. HA! Good Fun!
  8. am not a huge fan o' eder, but we like his resolution. with some o' the other companions we need to actual check our journal to convince us that the companion quest is indeed finished. eder has a clear resolution, but it ain't some kinda ridiculous epiphany reached after a half-dozen dialogue encounters with the protagonist. eder doesn't get his questions answered. on the negative side, am not a fan o' how eder, and most o' the companions, is utilized as info-dumps for setting details. our least favorite companion is aloth. the mpd stuff is actual kinda fun/funny, but his big reveal regarding his initial allegiances is handled with a clumsy brevity that makes us hope that material were cut. otherwise it is near criminal for us have so little opportunity respond to aloth's reveal. 1) the mage blurts out his reveal 2) the mage shares a brief explanation as to his motivations 3) the protagonist is given a choice to hug-it-out or part ways with the mage 4) the end ... ... Gromnir checks journal to see if we missed something. nope. perhaps a reload? maybe we missed some important dialogue option? nope. terrible. HA! Good Fun!
  9. It's always funny when people get introduced to Gromnir and don't get it . *shrug* am admitted perplexed by folks. oh sure. when stymied they retreat to taking a stab at the posting style, but meto and the genesis poster is as difficult to understand. they claim they comprehend the premise o' a force that robs the galaxy o' meaningful choice, but act as if their ls choices being nullified is some kinda personal vendetta 'gainst their ls choices. oh, and newsflash: a galaxy wide sith threat to the galaxy, which in the kotor/star wars universe is gonna be the threat, necessarily requires a fracturing o' the New Hope style ls ending o' the first kotor. duh. and yes, we used meto quote 'cause the genesis poster used it in a response to us to explain his pov. could just as easily have used the following: "The writers took Revan's victory over Malak and the Star Forge, took the Republic and Jedi's victory over the Sith... and made it all irrelevant. The writers created three new Sith, retroactively, to cancel out any sense of accomplishment from having played a LS Revan in the previous game." is previous to a number response in this thread and shows the same ridiculous lack o' awareness. *shrug* is 2015. kotor 2 were 2004. Gromnir were posting this way as far back as 1999. meto not get the irony. his/her complaint 'bout our posting style mirrors the misapprehension about kotor 2 as it highlights a fundamental lack o' comprehension that has tediously been repeated ad nauseum for over a decade. HA! Good Fun!
  10. dyrford can be relative early in chapter 2, and it typical is for Gromnir. in fact, after cad nua, we head to dyrford, though admittedly on initial runs we were racing to acquire companions at the earliest possible opportunity. the companion level-up feature added to the game makes such metagame nonsense unnecessary, but in any event, that is one o' the dangers o' a game that ain't on rails, yes? is very easy to do areas in a less than ideal order. dyrford were the lion's share o' the beta, and we were level 4-8 in beta-- hit level 5 within a half hour o' gameplay. do dyrford at level 10? am not surprised that you would be dismayed by the ease. next time do it at level 5... or go crazy and do it at level 6. HA! Good Fun!
  11. The hell are you on about now? I was responding to 213374U's point about Kreia, which was related to the main topic. The more I read from you, the more you weird me out. I'm done responding to you after this. you are stopping? thank goodness. regardless, you started off-topic in your reply to Gromnir, not numbers. "Did you save the day in the original? Doesn't matter here. The Jedi all but die out in FIVE years. And suddenly we have multiple Sith Lords running about that come out of thin air." again, such stuff does not in any way show a ls/ds preference by the obsidian writers. sudden feeling the need to revisit a dead issue from a game released in 2004 & complete mischaracterizing your concern? now that is weird. HA! Good Fun!
  12. believe it or not, our beverage o' choice is lemon-lime kool-aid, though am also a fan o' the less common available watermelon flavor. went through a short-lived peach-mango phase 'bout a year ago. typical we buy +20 packets o' the stuff at a time along with the generic brands o' splenda. have been habitual drinking the kool-aid since the mid-nineties. HA! Good Fun! ps am pretty sure we got started drinking it during law school years as we were so freaking poor that it were the only beverage other than water that we could afford... and berkeley tap water is/was foul.
  13. you are no longer arguing what you claimed to be arguing. *shrug* kreia were not a villain such as darth mushmouth. unlike the faceless evils such as sauron and grendel, kreia were 'posed to be a real human. she needed a rational and believable motivation. were you forced to agree with kreia? 'course not. am assuming you played the game. if so, you know you need not agree with kreia. kreia's belief that the galaxy would be better off w/o the force had to be rational and believable. if all we got were some kinda quasi-intellectual's theory 'bout the force subtle adjusting events every few thousand years to bring 'bout balance to the galaxy's unseen light v. dark meter, her actions would seem ridiculous. did obsidian writers hate the force? perhaps. clearly the obsidnaties saw the question o' the force's role in events as being worthy o' consideration. however, the possibility that the writers didn't like the force or your belief that plot holes were in abundance is Not a showing o' any kinda writer preference for ds o'er ls. HA! Good Fun! ps we only responded 'cause you were getting off-topic in your own thread.
  14. you don't need saving. and even if you were saved, another player need be damned as a consequence. we were told by a few developers that the two most common complaints of every ie game were identical. the game was too hard and the game was too easy no doubt many games have the same top 2 complaints. attempting to get crpg difficulty balanced is a sisyphean endeavour. the problem is magnified in games that offer more optional side-quests for reasons we noted earlier. HA! Good Fun!
  15. back in march and april, more than a few folks observed that they had reached level 12 before finishing act 2. even as a die-hard completionist we did not quite manage that feat. nevertheless, obsidian made a few post release xp adjustments, including reductions in bounty xp awards, and so we has not seen anybody claim to reach level 12 before the end o' act in over a month. am suspecting greyfox experienced some kinda bug and his exploring of saves seems to support this notion. nevertheless, in our opinion, there is a problem with poe xp. the developers, pre-release, observed that they would be surprised if any player hit level 12 before being at the extreme end o' the game. 12th level were s'posed to be requiring an obsessive completionist to achieve. unfortunately, we believe the game were balanced with the obsidian misapprehension 'bout level gains in mind. assume that the typical player finishing the game is level 10 or 9 and suddenly the difficulty o' the game strikes us as much more appropriate. end act 2 at level 8 or 7? levels confer a considerable 'mount o' power in poe and the levels we reached through completionst play were not what the developers expected. a mistake were made. that being said, the completionist is always gonna have a relative easier time with games such as these. is axiomatic that the more optional content you provide in a crpg, the more power you is giving to the completionist. even if you remove any and all xp awards from non-critical path questing, you is still gonna have additional gold, gear and crafting resources from a completionist playthrough. am not certain how much effort the developers needs/should put forth to save us completionists from our selves. HA! Good Fun!
  16. Pretty much this. ^_^ in our opinion, you both kinda missed the premise o' kotor 2 if that is what you got from it. the force in kotor 2 is the Ultimate Bad Guy, at least from kreia's pov. the light side cannot win anymore than can the dark side, 'cause the force is gonna eventual, mindlessly perhaps, bring about a galactic balancing and all the jedi and sith is little more than tools to realize that necessity. *shrug* light side makes just as much sense as does dark side, and we see no preference ( ls preference actual more likely as the game is still a heroic 'venture) so long as you accept the writer's core premise. HA! Good Fun! is gonna be spam if we quote our self more than once. *shrug* again, what sends kreia into the abyss is that the force renders jedi and sith actions meaningless. kreia sees the force as an evil that needs be ended, once and for all. her fury is believable, and even reasonable, precisely 'cause o' what happened after the end o' kotor. if you understand kreia anger at being impotent, then how can you be surprised when the writers reveal that all o' revan's ls works were in fact undone? am not sure how else to explain. is too old a topic 'pon which to waste more effort. if you ain't accepted obsidian/kreia pov o' the force by now, then Gromnir explanations have no hope o' bringing forth additional clarity. HA! Good Fun!
  17. have played through poe multiple times now. in all such cases we do all available bounties (which ain't actual that many as one tier 1 bounty can only be reached in act 3) and descend to at least 12th floor of the endless paths before initiating the act 2 conclusion. our first game were previous to the bounties being trimmed o' xp by obsidian, but even so, we were not quite level 11 at the end of act 2. took us about ten minutes o' act 3 to reach level 11 before bounties were trimmed. regardless, level 10 is where we always end act 2. we feel over-level'd even so. it goes against our nature, but am gonna try and play a critical path poe run and see what levels we reach. am suspecting that poe is much more difficult at critical path levels, even for a player who has invested many hours into the game. HA! Good Fun!
  18. you get the role o' the force in kotor 2, but you see the nullification o' revan's ls works as somehow inappropriate. ... that don't seem rational to us, but you need not share our perspective. kreia's existential crisis actual makes more sense to us with a ls ending. regardless, you do have an explanation as to why revan's ls deeds would be erased by the force in kotor 2. HA! Good Fun!
  19. 20. Personally, I have no ****ing clue what you're speaking about, Frodo. am equal perplexed as to what the genesis poster thinks is obvious. the cursive rain smelled of blue and gold. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WU4uaKgCQ9A HA! Good Fun!
  21. we would rather french kiss an electrical outlet than play another arcanum. HA! Good Fun!
  22. kinda had this out on the boards already. all we were told is that that there were an agreement 'tween obsidian and paizo for the card game... plus. were a long-term agreement with no details whatsoever regarding the agreement. am not even knowing what kinda games obsidian could make under the agreement beyond card games. am not knowing duration o' term... or any other terms for that matter. and why imply? *shrug* we didn't see any reason to be especially enthusiastic based on the announcement, and as you note, more than a year has passed since that time. HA! Good Fun!
  23. not as if Gromnir is a huge hyperion fan, but am afraid that this is gonna look like sharknado. visually, am not sure how syfy can hope to do justice to the material, but beyond the production values, the plot is... weird. between the shrike and keats and all the other convoluted sci-fi crap in the books, is actual kinda impressive how simmons made the novel(s) work. that being said, the books is deeply introspective and am expecting that any adaptation beyond print is gonna need rely on tortious amounts o' exposition. *shrug* this project is limited to train-wreck interest for us. HA! Good Fun!
  24. wtf is wrong with obsidian? armoured warfare *shrug* poe were the first game obsidian has developed in quite some time that we bothered to play. not ds3 or ap or south park... and o' those three games, only ap had a chance to be a uniquely obsidian title. ... we get that obsidian gots bills to pay, but am fearing that armoured warfare were a trap. the tank project is requiring inordinate resources and will necessarily prevent obsidian from taking on projects Gromnir would prefer to see from them. HA! Good Fun!
  25. if one genuine wishes to shiver... in the low-res videos, fabio kinda looks like weird al, so first time we saw this we thought it were a yankovic parody o' something we were unfamiliar with. regardless, the clip is great and terrible at the same time, much like so many christopher lee movies. HA! Good Fun!
