  1. fair enough. am curious to see how the changes impact actual gameplay. to that end, with all the changes forthcoming, will there be a respec option? am personal not the least concerned with achievements, but use of console not only fails to address all character modification needs but its use diables achievements. HA! Good Fun! ps we didn't know that holy radiance needed a buff. fully modified by the maxing of favored dispositions o' a chosen deity, holy radiance already strikes us as quite efficacious.
  2. not covered in the update were the anticipated changes to perception. such a change would be a balancing rather than a new feature, so we ain't surprised by failure to mention. regardless, can see clear from the video that 20 perception results in +10 accuracy and no deflection bonus. is a significant change, no? is any chance we get developer confirmation, and perhaps some small explanation o' the reasoning behind the change to perception? thanks HA! Good Fun! An attempt to balance deflection stacking while keeping Perception as a useful pick? keep in mind, in an earlier beta build we already had perception modify accuracy. did not take long to realize that perception had become functional a no-brainer choice for all roles and classes save for tanks and perhaps dedicated heal priests. this change is seeming reactionary. yeah, tank deflection is current too strong and perception is a relative weak attribute, but this is not new change, but more o' a return to an old state... and the old were considered a bit broken by the developers. so, am curious 'bout the thinking behind the change. am not against the change, but am curious nonetheless. HA! Good Fun!

  4. am thinking this were already posted elsewhere, but... *shrug* and accuracy boost for high perception does indeed appear to be forthcoming. HA! Good Fun!
  5. fixed w/o note. seals is still extreme powerful, but that is 'cause they irrational use hazard calculations in spite o' not being hazards. a wall o' fire having heightened accuracy makes sense. a foe only seal? regardless, you not need mechanics to make your seal strong. *shrug* trap math was tuned... poorly. at release, traps were disproportionate accurate. a rogue or wizard or chanter with 10 in mechanics who set a trap could be near guaranteed to crit. at release, most traps had an inherent Bonus to accuracy as well as excessive damage potential. priests were not getting some kinda advantage with seal spells compared to any other kinda trap, but traps as a whole were way overpowered. traps get nerfed very quick after release, but for whatever reason, seals took longer for obsidian to adjust to correct. 'course obsidian solution has seals as remaining overpowered, just without the need to take mechanics to make 'em so. HA! Good Fun!
  6. seals is current getting the same math as hazards, which actual makes less sense than use o' mechanics seeing as hazards is not foe-only. regardless, mechanics is no longer a factor for seals. HA! Good Fun!
  7. from a practical pov, you can't actual ban a flag in the usa. what is being sought is for government buildings and organizations in various states to discontinue the display o' certain flags. many private retailers is voluntarily removing confederate flag items from their stores in support o' the notion that the veneration o' the confederate flag is based on ignorance and intolerance, which is their right. is not ban o' flag the folks is seeking. hell, we can't even ban cross burning in the usa. demand that state and local governments discontinue veneration is different than banning. the government is representative o' the People after all. be that as it may, as can be seen from our earlier posts, we thinks many folks is going 'bout this the wrong way. HA! Good Fun!

  9. Yay! An evil character. given what we saw from the poe companions as a whole, we suspect you will be disappointed. anticipate moral ambiguity. HA! Good Fun!
  10. It is not my problem, that some people don't know how to play videogames. I want pickpocketing. What is the point of playing a thief, if he can't steal? This is the only game that I own (I don't own much), in which I don't want to play a thief. funny. this is one o' the few games in which we wanna play a rogue. the ie games all favored thief multi-classing 'cause vanilla thieves sucked in comparison to any thief multi-class... and lord knows we never needed the slight gold accumulation we garnered from picking pockets. heck, other than a few meta-game pick-pocket targets, ie game pp skill were kinda a waste... and if need be, we could down potions to give us the requisite skill we had otherwise neglected. the d&d d20 COMPUTER games were likewise making the rogue a wasted class that only made sense as a multi-class combo. in pnp, a d20 rogue could be the bestest class, just so long as you had a dm that made frequent use o' skill checks, but crpg d&d 3e rogues were facing disproportionate combat, and in combat, multi-class rogues were always superior to vanilla. and again, our crpg rogue/clerics, rogue/rangers and rogue/fighters invariably bypassed the pickpocket skill regardless. poe is different... purposeful. the goal were to make a rogue potent in combat. like poe rogues or not, but is ridiculous to ignore their combat efficacy. we prefer a rogue that ain't a relative gimp in combat. as for poe pickpocket? *shrug* am suspecting the developers saw similar to Gromnir in that copper/gold would already be plentiful, and making a few named npcs prime pickpocket targets for special items would be an incredible waste o' effort to makes an otherwise useless skill... useful. on the other hand, to do stoopid linking o' skills to classes and then makes stealth so terrible were a serious oversight by the developers. Gromnir suggestion: get rid o' class-specific skill boosts AND fix stealth. well, it looks as if obsidian is at least finally fixing stealth. still, we not see the point o' tying skills to specific classes in poe... so even if there were a horrible pickpocket skill, we would not see it as needing be integral linked to the rogue anyways. HA! Good Fun!
  11. ps am thinking that the following clip contains an excellent summary o' the typical southerner's argument for continued veneration o' the confederate flag. oh heck, add the follow-up as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3eTSbC3neA HA! Good Fun!
  12. http://www.history.com/topics/black-history/civil-rights-act legislators in the 1960s also gave us the civil rights acts. *shrug* HA! Good Fun!
  13. as an aside, the racism we observed in europe were worse, and frequent more comical than what we endured in the south. were very few minorities in moscow in the late 80s and early nineties. am pretty sure we caused a car accident once... guy probably thought america were invading, or perhaps aliens. spain, england, poland and france all got prolonged Gromnir stays, and day-to-day racism were worse than the kinda stuff we had to deal with in the south. did not stay in germany long... were a startling abundance o' young nazis passing out leaflets. and asia? lordy. usa is diverse and bigger than euro nations, so our issues is more obvious... and we also got genuine free speech in the usa, so people actual speak out 'bout issues. the biggest problem we current see is economic. the recent economic downturn exacerbated a "problem" that had been growing for some time: economic disparity. usa has largely recovered from economic woes o' a few years ago, but not everybody has recovered equal. modern day robber barons, such as Gromnir, made the problems here in States worse, as when poor folks were losing what little they had, folks like Gromnir were buying on the cheap. we now got more than we ever had, but those folks who lost everything will never recover, and they are angry. is justifiable anger, but is often misdirected. flag? is not the problem. taking down a silly flag w/o People's consent will only polarize further. get people jobs and homes and a freaking future. fix the real problems. HA! Good Fun!
  14. the problem ain't the governor or any kinda law. have a government official or small group o' such officials change policy unilateral is never gonna bring about the actual change hurl likely wants. the problem is the People. if you force people to give up something that most of 'em likely didn't care 'bout or think 'bout, then all you have done is to polarize those ignorant and indifferent moderates. am understanding why people, particular people not in south carolina, want change now, but immediate change is gonna hurt more than it helps. let the freaking legislative process work. is a slow and feeble beast that gets it wrong as often as it gets it right, but that is what we all sign up for with representative democracy, no? start a movement to get the People to demand change. have the legislative body demand change as a result o' pressures from constituency. have the People be invested in whatever change occurs, 'cause if you don't, you get polarization and radicalization and more o' the kinda nonsense hurl don't want rather than less. we loathe the south and its lingering racism. in the late 80s, when we were taking football recruiting trips, we made a number o' visits to southern schools. it were eye opening and disturbing to us just how open and notorious racism were in some parts o' the south. sure, as a native american kid in the dakotas we had seen and felt racism frequent enough, but the majority o' the yokels o' swedish and german descent we encountered were the polite kinda racists who would pretend you did not exist or maybe sneer at you when they thought you weren't looking their way. the racist comments o' the locals in south dakota were, for the most part, whispered. the south... well, we didn't like the south much. am not fond o' visiting the south even now. yeah, the media stokes the flames considerable, and am sure euros gotta extreme distorted pov, but the impact the south had on us were enduring in spite o' the fact that we ain't actual encountered any kinda overt racism on our most recent trips into kudzu country. we don't like the south. we don't like the confederate flag. worst o' all, we don't like the humidity. well, that last part ain't immediate relevant, but gosh darn it, we hate walking o' a hotel and instantly becoming drenched in our own sweat when the temps is only in the 80s. am suspecting all that humidity messes with people's brains. *shrug* don't force change on Americans. we don't like it. we don't respond well to it. if you do not rely on the legislative process to bring about change, you will only multiply the monsters you is seeking to destroy.
  15. perhaps they, y'know, read books n' stuff. *shrug* didn't send us scurrying for a dictionary. that being said, am doubting we has ever used the word save to insert annoying alliteration into a conversation... as, frankly, we do indeed feel in fine fettle today. am not certain we has ever seen/heard fettle used divorced from fine. 'course, we can just chalk this up to substandard english education that produces a generation o' kids that is more apt to recognize dumbledore as real when shown pictures o' the headmaster o' hogwarts side-by-side with winston churchill. HA! Good Fun!

  17. we got loads o' suggestions for a sequel, which we will share later. as for an expansion, our impact at this late date need necessarily be limited, or benefitting from mr. peabody's time machine. to whit, we have two requests for the expansion: 1) cassowary animal companion for the ranger. while such a request is resource heavy, sherman already set the way-back machine to 2014, and earlier. had positive developer feedback at the time. am hopeful we see a vicious and dumb bird companion for rangers in the expansion. 2) a talent or ability option that buffs a companion paladin's faith and convictions bonuses. am not needing maxed faith and convictions for our adventurer's hall tank paladin, but a talent that would buff faith and convictions based on loyalty to the player character has an internal logic and would go far towards making joinable paladins less gimped compared to pc paladins. a talent/ability is not a minor price to pay for a more robust faith and convictions for companion paladins. even got a nifty name for the talent/ability: Honor Untarnished. eh? thanks. HA! Good Fun!
  18. am actual amazed that so little mention is made o' how obsidian added faith as a central theme in a crpg with a pantheon o' deities that interact with the world and display tangible proofs o' their existence and power. obsidian approach is arguably unnecessary, but their pantheon is unique and clever and deserving o' note. as we observed earlier in this thread, the dime-store philosophy o' players or the obsidians interests us not at all, but the Question o' faith is possible in poe. amentep is able to consider the question o' poe faith and come to his own conclusions. good on obsidian. HA! Good Fun!
  19. immersion: the crpg baby rattle. HA! Good Fun!
  20. holy handgrenades-- your anniversary is the same as Gromnir's parents. is a day that shall live in infamy... not for you... we hope. congrats. HA! Good Fun!
  21. reach weapons do not extend the aoe o' the carnage, but the carnage point of origin is at the target and not the barbarian, so in that sense the "reach" of carnage is extended with a reach weapon. however, your intelligence will extend the aoe size o' your carnage, thus making intelligence your most important attribute. *shrug* if you do not understand the damage potential o' carnage from reading the ability descriptions, then an explanation here is unlikely to help. create an npc barbarian and level it up with the console. against single targets, the barbarian is mundane. however, particularly in hard mode with large mobs of foes, carnage is a potent ability. rogues have sneak attack. efforts to make a rogue more effective are about maximizing sneak attack damage and opportunities. barbarians are carnage in the same way rogues are defined by sneak attack. "If you don't like classes who rely on getting into trouble to maximize their combat effectiveness, you probably won't like Monk either. His abilities depend on wounds, so he actually wants high Con but low deflection and little to no DR from armor so he gets hurt more" this is a myth. if you wish to maximize wounds and the dps potential of a monk, you will need to watch your health carefully. even so, a heavily armoured monk who takes only moderate wounds can still dish out ridiculous amounts of hurt-- they make ideal off-tanks. HA! Good Fun! ps am thinking you underestimate dps fighters as well. dps fighters are not glass cannons as are rogues and barbarians, so a dps fighter will be able to wade into the the thick of battle w/o as much concern that death is always imminent. a well-built dps fighter is an extremely reliable damage dealer, so over the course o' an entire game, it will seemingly improve.
  22. Not that I believe the young earth theory, but logically, if an all-powerful god created the universe, then that same all-powerful god created time (it being a function of the universe), which means dating anything accurate is dependent on whether god intervened (ie god could manipulate time), which would - presumably - be impossible to detect without god intervening to say "yeah, I did it". Therefore, the earth could date to 4.5 billion years, and yet also be 6000 years old at the same time, because god intervened. I've never understood people who believe in an all powerful god fear the data of science - it seems to so devalue the ability of god who they claim to be all powerful, really. One of the interesting things to me about PoE's setup is that yes the pantheon we're introduced to are gods created by man, but while the Engwithans - we're told - could find no proof a real god (or gods) existing, it doesn't remove the idea that there's actually other gods out there that the Engwithans could never see. Yes - that is one of the most interesting parts of the PoE world. The Engwithans stopped looking and made something up. The plot twist in the sequel might involve actual gods of the world who aren't happy about the invented ones. just saw this, so apologies for a reply coming so late, but we would hate such a direction for the plot. obsidian managed to get rid o' the traditional fantasy world pantheon by making 'em human constructs. add more gods simple sends us back to proverbial square one, no? if it were Gromnir writing, we would explore the eothas death a bit more. perhaps the gods were created not so much as individuals but as a system and the system is currently broken. unfortunately, real world calamity is resulting from the failed divine system. eventual, the player gets a chance to deal with the eothas problem in a variety o' ways. fix system, effective replacing eothas with a new deity construct. another option would be to fix w/o a new eothas; make so other deities can absorb the increased load. end system, terminating the power o' the gods... which wouldn't necessarily end belief in those gods. etc. *shrug* the thing is, we don't wanna know what obsidian is gonna do. we want for obsidian to do something we do not foresee, but having reached the conclusion and looking back on the entirety o' the story, we only then realize how all the myriad pieces finally fit together and we recognize that the way obsidian did were inspired. in any event, we don't want a turtles all the way down problem by adding additional deities. HA! Good Fun!
  23. "It's very likely that you slaughtering most of his castle has him thinking, "Well, I can just hire replacements." He probably feels it's much more beneficial to him to have the killing machine working for him instead of against him." again, what raedric is thinking ain't the issue. you can't lead unless people follow. a tyrant who has shown he cannot defend himself is not long for this world. you walk outta raedric castle alive, much less as an ally, is the beginning o' the end o' raedric. one o' his "loyal" followers is gonna be killing him, and soon. HA! Good Fun!
  24. is kinda a no-win for the obsinaties. for every person that wants a dungeon crawl and thinks such is the epitome o' ie gaming, other folks want less wave after wave o' beetles, trolls and undead... which is iwd dragon's eye... or is it endless paths? and am not sure how folks distinguish errand quest and a new major side quest. take the one ring to mount doom to be destroyed is an errand quest. find the grail? *shrug* HA! Good Fun! That's true. What I meant as "major side quest" was that I would like to see more open areas with varied types of quests instead of levels and levels of dungeons just for the purpose of gaining experience to level up. But you are right...it's impossible to make everyone happy. Maybe they will go with the "cake recepy" and make it half dungeon crawl and half open area making everyone happy make everybody happy is exceeding difficult if not impossible. what tends to happen when trying to make everybody happy is that instead you gots all people mildly dissatisfied. and expansions? well, those is even harder to get right as even if the developers do 'em well, some folks will necessarily be displeased that they didn't get more. tob, which were a large expansion compared to most any crpg expansion we might mention, were hated by more than a few folks. bioware added the optional watcher's keep, high-level abilities and finished their bhaalspawn story with an extreme variety o' locales. more than a few folks were still disappointed with tob size and scope. am getting the feeling that people is expecting tob, and when they get totsc or how, they is gonna be mighty angry... particularly as they is gonna get 1/2 o' totsc with this initial poe expansion. HA! Good Fun!
  25. is kinda a no-win for the obsinaties. for every person that wants a dungeon crawl and thinks such is the epitome o' ie gaming, other folks want less wave after wave o' beetles, trolls and undead... which is iwd dragon's eye... or is it endless paths? and am not sure how folks distinguish errand quest and a new major side quest. take the one ring to mount doom to be destroyed is an errand quest. find the grail? *shrug* HA!
