  1. am thinking that hold the line is misunderstood. is the name that makes it misleading. hold the line is not 'bout holding enemies, it's 'bout making those enemies pay when they try and get past you. hold the line isn't a defensive ability as much as a potent offensive talent for front-liners. for a tank with wretched accuracy, hold the line does not offer much o' a pay-off. conversely, for a high accuracy off-tank that is preventing possible flankers, hold the line will generate much pain 'pon the enemy. HA! Good Fun!
  2. ... uncanny. we can actual suffer brain-freeze sensation from reading vol posts. HA! Good Fun!
  3. This may sound very "Bah Humbug" we would say predictable rather than bah humbug. no biggie the thing we specific recall from recent josh interviews is his recognition that the criticism that later parts o' the game became too easy for far too many players was a justified complaint and that the developers were taking steps to fix that problem. am not sure what the fix is. scaling of at least the major encounters would be a good start... could even make it optional scaling as with the expansion material. regardless, while the decreasing late game difficulty were not addressed in the video or other recent expansion news, josh did address the problem and admitted that change were desirable. is still a head scratcher problem given how certain the obsidian folks seemed regarding xp progression. adding token lock and exploration and bestiary xp were no biggie precisely 'cause o' the complete awareness the obsidians had o' xp awards and the ease with which they could balance such awards. clearly the notion that level 12 would require a dedicated completionist and would only be attainable in the extreme late portions o' the game were a misapprehension. somewhere along the way, the xp calculations were flubbed, and not in a small way. as matt observes, the late game, critical path encounters appear balanced for level 9-10 and levels confer significant power in poe. oh well, whatever were the cause, the developers is not only aware o' the xp issue, but they admitted that it were a valid concern. am expecting some kinda adjustment... though whether the changes is sufficient will require gameplay. HA! Good Fun!
  4. more on soulbound weapons. http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3706905&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=555#post446991217 HA! Good Fun!
  5. the ie mod is 3rd party and has resulted in some quirks in the past. am understanding why some folks might avoid the ie mod, but it is good that you bring the mod up as an alternative, 'cause baring a developer option, it may be the only alternative available short o' restarting the game. HA! Good Fun!
  6. ... am confused. fact that poe is using an attribute distribution familiar to those who saw those suggestions made by matt516 and yourself is cause for additional sensuki caterwauling, or rejoicing? HA! Good Fun! Haha - I think he's remarking on the fact that if that change is made, it'll be not similar to (which it already was), but pretty much exactly what we suggested. Only difference would be the numerical values of the boni - though an important one to be sure. the numerical values is indeed important, but again, shouldn't it be a positive to you and sensuki that obsidian is gonna, for at least this incarnation o' poe, use an attribute distribution so familiar to you both? you seem pleased. the change is a good thing, yes? does sensuki seem pleased? is a question. HA! Good Fun!

  8. the closest thing we ever got to a confirmation regarding the perception changes for 1.07 (now 2.0?) which we assumed were coming based on a bug, were the following: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/80214-106-hotfix-live-on-steam/?p=1703332 josh answered a few questions about respec and perception today in the 2.0 announcement thread: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/80445-update-99-announcing-the-expansion-and-update-20/ HA! Good Fun!
  9. I was just talking to Roby and Adam about a respec feature. It's a little complicated, but it's not something we're opposed to and we're going to look into the logistics of implementing it. I know that's vague but character creation and advancement are complicated and sometimes seemingly simple things are quite difficult. With some of the new scaling, I've been tuning down some of the other means of powering up base abilities (like Talents). Until now, Talents were one of the only mechanical ways that we could scale some abilities up. again, thanks for the feedback. if respec cannot be done without breaking the game, we understand, but no doubt you can understand the frustration more than a few folks will feel when they realize that their carefully crafted build no longer performs quite the same given the depth and breadth o' the forthcoming changes. HA! Good Fun!
  10. Doesn't that only affect PC Priests? NPC Priests might need the scaling. am glad you bring that up, 'cause if we are speaking o' the need for npc priest scaling that they do not get from favored dispositions, one wonders if a similar boost for companion paladins is forthcoming. faith and convictions bonuses from dispositions is a very powerful benefit for a pc paladin, particularly for a tank. this benefit will actually be relative enhanced now that perception's deflection bonus has been nixed. so, is there any option for scaling companion paladin faith and convictions? we has suggested a talent or ability, but it would be odd that holy radiance would get a buff but not faith and convictions, yes? HA! Good Fun!
  11. fair enough. am curious to see how the changes impact actual gameplay. to that end, with all the changes forthcoming, will there be a respec option? am personal not the least concerned with achievements, but use of console not only fails to address all character modification needs but its use diables achievements. HA! Good Fun! ps we didn't know that holy radiance needed a buff. fully modified by the maxing of favored dispositions o' a chosen deity, holy radiance already strikes us as quite efficacious.
  12. not covered in the update were the anticipated changes to perception. such a change would be a balancing rather than a new feature, so we ain't surprised by failure to mention. regardless, can see clear from the video that 20 perception results in +10 accuracy and no deflection bonus. is a significant change, no? is any chance we get developer confirmation, and perhaps some small explanation o' the reasoning behind the change to perception? thanks HA! Good Fun! An attempt to balance deflection stacking while keeping Perception as a useful pick? keep in mind, in an earlier beta build we already had perception modify accuracy. did not take long to realize that perception had become functional a no-brainer choice for all roles and classes save for tanks and perhaps dedicated heal priests. this change is seeming reactionary. yeah, tank deflection is current too strong and perception is a relative weak attribute, but this is not new change, but more o' a return to an old state... and the old were considered a bit broken by the developers. so, am curious 'bout the thinking behind the change. am not against the change, but am curious nonetheless. HA! Good Fun!

  14. am thinking this were already posted elsewhere, but... *shrug* and accuracy boost for high perception does indeed appear to be forthcoming. HA! Good Fun!
  15. fixed w/o note. seals is still extreme powerful, but that is 'cause they irrational use hazard calculations in spite o' not being hazards. a wall o' fire having heightened accuracy makes sense. a foe only seal? regardless, you not need mechanics to make your seal strong. *shrug* trap math was tuned... poorly. at release, traps were disproportionate accurate. a rogue or wizard or chanter with 10 in mechanics who set a trap could be near guaranteed to crit. at release, most traps had an inherent Bonus to accuracy as well as excessive damage potential. priests were not getting some kinda advantage with seal spells compared to any other kinda trap, but traps as a whole were way overpowered. traps get nerfed very quick after release, but for whatever reason, seals took longer for obsidian to adjust to correct. 'course obsidian solution has seals as remaining overpowered, just without the need to take mechanics to make 'em so. HA! Good Fun!
  16. seals is current getting the same math as hazards, which actual makes less sense than use o' mechanics seeing as hazards is not foe-only. regardless, mechanics is no longer a factor for seals. HA! Good Fun!
  17. from a practical pov, you can't actual ban a flag in the usa. what is being sought is for government buildings and organizations in various states to discontinue the display o' certain flags. many private retailers is voluntarily removing confederate flag items from their stores in support o' the notion that the veneration o' the confederate flag is based on ignorance and intolerance, which is their right. is not ban o' flag the folks is seeking. hell, we can't even ban cross burning in the usa. demand that state and local governments discontinue veneration is different than banning. the government is representative o' the People after all. be that as it may, as can be seen from our earlier posts, we thinks many folks is going 'bout this the wrong way. HA! Good Fun!

  19. Yay! An evil character. given what we saw from the poe companions as a whole, we suspect you will be disappointed. anticipate moral ambiguity. HA! Good Fun!
  20. It is not my problem, that some people don't know how to play videogames. I want pickpocketing. What is the point of playing a thief, if he can't steal? This is the only game that I own (I don't own much), in which I don't want to play a thief. funny. this is one o' the few games in which we wanna play a rogue. the ie games all favored thief multi-classing 'cause vanilla thieves sucked in comparison to any thief multi-class... and lord knows we never needed the slight gold accumulation we garnered from picking pockets. heck, other than a few meta-game pick-pocket targets, ie game pp skill were kinda a waste... and if need be, we could down potions to give us the requisite skill we had otherwise neglected. the d&d d20 COMPUTER games were likewise making the rogue a wasted class that only made sense as a multi-class combo. in pnp, a d20 rogue could be the bestest class, just so long as you had a dm that made frequent use o' skill checks, but crpg d&d 3e rogues were facing disproportionate combat, and in combat, multi-class rogues were always superior to vanilla. and again, our crpg rogue/clerics, rogue/rangers and rogue/fighters invariably bypassed the pickpocket skill regardless. poe is different... purposeful. the goal were to make a rogue potent in combat. like poe rogues or not, but is ridiculous to ignore their combat efficacy. we prefer a rogue that ain't a relative gimp in combat. as for poe pickpocket? *shrug* am suspecting the developers saw similar to Gromnir in that copper/gold would already be plentiful, and making a few named npcs prime pickpocket targets for special items would be an incredible waste o' effort to makes an otherwise useless skill... useful. on the other hand, to do stoopid linking o' skills to classes and then makes stealth so terrible were a serious oversight by the developers. Gromnir suggestion: get rid o' class-specific skill boosts AND fix stealth. well, it looks as if obsidian is at least finally fixing stealth. still, we not see the point o' tying skills to specific classes in poe... so even if there were a horrible pickpocket skill, we would not see it as needing be integral linked to the rogue anyways. HA! Good Fun!
  21. ps am thinking that the following clip contains an excellent summary o' the typical southerner's argument for continued veneration o' the confederate flag. oh heck, add the follow-up as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3eTSbC3neA HA! Good Fun!
  22. http://www.history.com/topics/black-history/civil-rights-act legislators in the 1960s also gave us the civil rights acts. *shrug* HA! Good Fun!
  23. as an aside, the racism we observed in europe were worse, and frequent more comical than what we endured in the south. were very few minorities in moscow in the late 80s and early nineties. am pretty sure we caused a car accident once... guy probably thought america were invading, or perhaps aliens. spain, england, poland and france all got prolonged Gromnir stays, and day-to-day racism were worse than the kinda stuff we had to deal with in the south. did not stay in germany long... were a startling abundance o' young nazis passing out leaflets. and asia? lordy. usa is diverse and bigger than euro nations, so our issues is more obvious... and we also got genuine free speech in the usa, so people actual speak out 'bout issues. the biggest problem we current see is economic. the recent economic downturn exacerbated a "problem" that had been growing for some time: economic disparity. usa has largely recovered from economic woes o' a few years ago, but not everybody has recovered equal. modern day robber barons, such as Gromnir, made the problems here in States worse, as when poor folks were losing what little they had, folks like Gromnir were buying on the cheap. we now got more than we ever had, but those folks who lost everything will never recover, and they are angry. is justifiable anger, but is often misdirected. flag? is not the problem. taking down a silly flag w/o People's consent will only polarize further. get people jobs and homes and a freaking future. fix the real problems. HA! Good Fun!
  24. the problem ain't the governor or any kinda law. have a government official or small group o' such officials change policy unilateral is never gonna bring about the actual change hurl likely wants. the problem is the People. if you force people to give up something that most of 'em likely didn't care 'bout or think 'bout, then all you have done is to polarize those ignorant and indifferent moderates. am understanding why people, particular people not in south carolina, want change now, but immediate change is gonna hurt more than it helps. let the freaking legislative process work. is a slow and feeble beast that gets it wrong as often as it gets it right, but that is what we all sign up for with representative democracy, no? start a movement to get the People to demand change. have the legislative body demand change as a result o' pressures from constituency. have the People be invested in whatever change occurs, 'cause if you don't, you get polarization and radicalization and more o' the kinda nonsense hurl don't want rather than less. we loathe the south and its lingering racism. in the late 80s, when we were taking football recruiting trips, we made a number o' visits to southern schools. it were eye opening and disturbing to us just how open and notorious racism were in some parts o' the south. sure, as a native american kid in the dakotas we had seen and felt racism frequent enough, but the majority o' the yokels o' swedish and german descent we encountered were the polite kinda racists who would pretend you did not exist or maybe sneer at you when they thought you weren't looking their way. the racist comments o' the locals in south dakota were, for the most part, whispered. the south... well, we didn't like the south much. am not fond o' visiting the south even now. yeah, the media stokes the flames considerable, and am sure euros gotta extreme distorted pov, but the impact the south had on us were enduring in spite o' the fact that we ain't actual encountered any kinda overt racism on our most recent trips into kudzu country. we don't like the south. we don't like the confederate flag. worst o' all, we don't like the humidity. well, that last part ain't immediate relevant, but gosh darn it, we hate walking o' a hotel and instantly becoming drenched in our own sweat when the temps is only in the 80s. am suspecting all that humidity messes with people's brains. *shrug* don't force change on Americans. we don't like it. we don't respond well to it. if you do not rely on the legislative process to bring about change, you will only multiply the monsters you is seeking to destroy.
  25. perhaps they, y'know, read books n' stuff. *shrug* didn't send us scurrying for a dictionary. that being said, am doubting we has ever used the word save to insert annoying alliteration into a conversation... as, frankly, we do indeed feel in fine fettle today. am not certain we has ever seen/heard fettle used divorced from fine. 'course, we can just chalk this up to substandard english education that produces a generation o' kids that is more apt to recognize dumbledore as real when shown pictures o' the headmaster o' hogwarts side-by-side with winston churchill. HA! Good Fun!
