  1. thanks to bugs bunny cartoons, we typical go hasenpfeffer route with bunny, but as the multi-day brine can be trying our patience, faux tandoori is our backup. can you call it tandoori if you don't use a genuine tandoori oven? *shrug* overnight in yogurt/lemon/spice marinade and then grill. cast iron/dutch oven frying or fricassee is gromnir-wants-it-now options. tonight, am gonna make an omelette. am not sure what we would do if we couldn't eat omelettes no more. is a quick and easy meal and is an infinite number o' variations. don't need to kill a bunny to make an omelette, but if we got leftover leporids, chances are we can work it into an omelette. HA! Good Fun!
  2. nothing about this shooting is typical. getting access to the home o' a shooter wherein the shooting did not take place in the home? is typical not an evidence gathering concern in such situations, but cops sure as hell ain't gonna have police posted to escort journalists through the apartment o' a random carjacker. this is Not normal, but is not surprising to us. what benefit does law enforcement have in preventing press access once they has collected everything they believe is relevant evidence? typical you don't want acces for fear o' tainting... prevent possible conviction. that ain't an issue in this case, yes? HA! Good Fun!
  3. our press is pretty good about getting access. in any event, the apartment were made safe, evidence were already collected, and no doubt every inch o' the place were photographed by multiple law enforcement agencies. the shootings didn't occur in the apartment, and the suspects is not around to complain 'bout press access, yes? am not particular shocked. with all the conspiracy nutters running amok and given the new distrust o' law enforcement, there i no doubt a desire to ere on the side o' transparency. HA! Good Fun! ps ldn is a trilateral root... again, is not a mystery.
  4. As I said, as near as I can tell and understand, the family took "bin Laden" as a patronymic western style family name. The same way we have Erikson (literally Son of Erik) as a family name in the west from the Icelandic tradition (example: Lief Erikson was the son of Erik "The Red" Thorvaldsson, who in turn was son of Thorvald Asvaldson, etc.) but has lost the literal meaning (ie not all Eriksons are the sons of Eriks). Then Osama ben Laden is just western creation...as a leader of Muslim Jihadist group where some fanatical Muslims revered him highly and taking him as a saint...it just don't add up using western infidel style of name.... adds up just fine. we solved the mystery o' the meaning for you and also the oddity o' the naming convention. osama got the name from his father, whose company did considerable business with the west. as you can see from our linked pic, osama were pretty westernized himself at one point. is not a western creation. were a creation o' osama's father. and ldn is the "word" you is looking for. mysteries solved. HA! Good Fun!
  5. agreed that we like seeing the bad guy get punished by his victim. you could likely have a 2 hour video o' collected clips o' texas convenience store clerks who whip out a shotgun on a would be robber. is very raising arizona. HA! Good Fun!
  6. we prefer ... oddly enough, scanners and kids in the hall were both products o' canada. coincidence? HA! Good Fun!
  7. is not any more ridiculous than that alex jones wingnut we has seen linked on these boards more than once. HA! Good Fun!
  8. am conflicted. we like when the victim turns the tables on the attacker, but such stories is potential harmful. axiom: men is much stronger than women. dont get us wrong, even a petite woman can dish out serious hurt, but am thinking that self defense courses and stories such as the one above can be mighty misleading. we got experience in wrestling and a smidgen o' boxing, but am not exactly a trained hand-to-hand fighter. we had a relative long-time girlfriend who were a marine officer, and we got on the topic o' women's defense classes. we thought that such classes were good to helps women develop confidence such that they wouldn't immediate panic in an attack situation, but we weren't certain 'bout their overall effectiveness. *shrug* girlfriend suggested we kinda test. we would go to gym and gear up in safety equipment, and then we would attack her unscripted... not the staged stuff such as is typical in self-defense classes. obvious our marine friend were prepared and would not be subject to panic as would the victim o' an actual attack, but neither one o' us genuine wished to recreate such a nightmarish scenario. so, relative untrained Gromnir "attacked" our girlfriend, a marine officer with significant hand-to-hand training. we got bounced off the mat more than once, but pretty much only when we came at the girlfriend from front, and even then it weren't an always scenario. marine had aikido and judo and various other kinda training, but if Gromnir actual got a hand on her, we could toss her around quite easily. were not hard to imagine the kinda damage she woulda' suffered if we were fighting w/o gear in alley or hotel stairwell or wherever. thankfully, most women is complete unaware o' the relative difference in strength 'tween the sexes. am relieved that most women has never been attacked by a man that were genuine trying to hurt them. as such, we do believe that a woman's best options is to avoid situations that would likely lead to attack. the attacker in a surprise situation always has an advantage. a disproportionate strong attacker has a frightening advantage... and men is stronger than women.
  9. am not understanding the confusion. http://www.sbg.com.sa/ daddy o' osama is founder. family spent much time in the west and am not doubting name is a mixture o western and arabic naming conventions. actual meaning o' ldn is soft. us westerners need vowels, so ldn becomes laden or ladin or whatever. http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01885/osama-cadillac_1885045i.jpg HA! Good Fun! ps added family pic for the deceased terrorist during his 1971 stay in sweden... second from end on far right.
  10. the west were won with violence and deceit, which is pretty much how every other place were won... and every football game for that matter. HA! Good Fun!
  11. inconsistent. iwd2 were the best ie game in many aspects, and the worst in others... and inexplicably, what it were good at in some parts o' the game, it were terrible at others. writing and encounters in targos were great. overall story? rankin and bass did better https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SH1j1luFOw while enemy ai for iwd2 were best of the ie games, it frequent relied on simple mob rush on more than a couple maps. have mentioned more than once that if the enhanced edition games from beamdog had implemented iwd2 3e ruleset, we would been willing to pay $100 for bg, bg2 and iwd ee. iwd2 implementation o' 3eish rules were far superior and more flexible than anything from earlier ie games or from beamdog. as were typical o' the black isle games, the production values in iwd2 were beyond reproach. art and music were fantastic. we would still claim that iwd had the best overall music o' any ie game, and makes our top five all-time game music list, but iwd2 were arguable worthy o' same consideration. iwd2 added much unique content, some o' which were fantastic, and much o' which shoulda' been left on the cutting room floor. is not as if iwd2 deserves special consideration just 'cause the development were troubled and abbreviated. desperate and rushed were iwd2... desperate, rushed and inconsistent. the game represented both the pinnacle and nadir of ie games. we would not hesitate to recommend iwd2 to fans o' the ie games, but if such fans claimed that iwd2 were horrible or terrible, it would be difficult for Gromnir to argue against such a position. HA! Good Fun!
  12. the packers, like many teams, is playing injured. so what? well, the thing is that the cba has resulted in a rather considerable drop in practice days/hours. for 12 year vets who has been on the same team and in the same system, reduced practices is no biggie. the lack o' practice time becomes most obvious on teams that is playing many backups and rookies. as bad as the officiating has been this year, the nfl product as a whole has been even more disappointing. lack o' practices is, we believe, the most serious cause o' bad football in 2015. packers home games ain't what they once were 'cause the packers aren't what they once were. teams like packers, teams with numerous injuries, is playing ugly, even when they manage to win. HA! Good Fun!
  13. the bears v. packers were the close game on thanksgiving... and the bears won? did anybody notice if perhaps cutler were sporting a van dyke? HA! Good Fun! ps happy thanksgiving
  14. we absolute love polish food. during our time in europe, we spent an extra week in gdansk 'cause a woman running a restaurant in that beautiful city allowed us into her kitchen for eight days. woman offers a complete stranger eight full days o' cooking advice simple 'cause we complimented her and asked 'bout constructing her bigos. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/64313-what-you-having-for-dinner-tonight/?p=1375166 another oddity, the babushka who taught us referred to her golabki as "pigs in the blanket," which caused some initial confusion. HA! Good Fun!
  15. naive federation were part o' roddenberry's vision. is reason why studio needed wait til gene were dead before star trek became more skewed towards pew-pew. cant's criticism o' star trek earlier in the thread were not wrong, but we liked it anyways... and the naive federation that were forcing notions o' social equality and pinko commie ideals 'pon our young mind via endless early afternoon reruns were not a bad thing. didn't necessarily agree with roddenberry's vision, but his perspective were definite deserving to be heard. we liked all star trek series. sure, we liked some more than others, and voyager were difficult to remain a fan of at times. (why on earth would you name a star trek series "voyager" after the first motion picture v'ger debacle?) but every st series were, for Gromnir, worth the watch. perhap more significant is that each series boasted at least a few genuine fantastic episodes. HA! Good Fun!
  16. garak were one o' our favorite star trek characters... period. bashir? not so much. the guy graduates top 2 from one o' the best (best?) med schools... and not just best med school on earth neither. bashir has brain big as liberty bell and while a bit naive, he is looking for adventure on the frontier o' federation space, yes? is much development opportunity with such a character. heck, coulda' gone ransom stoddard with him, but instead they makes him a sci-fi cliché. we did like garak. HA! Good Fun!
  17. Amen (and the same is true for WoW). well, you likely could balance pve and pvp much better, but the stealth classes is extreme problematic. as over-the-top as some o' the pre 3.0 pvp builds were (smash jugg and bubbles sage) they were viable in pve and would eventual benefit from obvious needed tweaks to limit their excessive pvp dominance. but stealth? stealth is a major advantage in pvp. to balance the power o' stealth v. non stealth classes, one needs obvious reduce overall damage potential o' the shadows and agents, yes? HA! Good Fun!
  18. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOcxnQRUhMM HA! Good Fun!
  19. our biggest obstacle to finishing h2s at the moment is that on harbinger, the mob corpses in non instance h2 areas is not disappearing. the info bottleneck is causing serious ability lag on multiple planets. enemies would not actual reveal until 2-3 seconds after they attacked. companions would disappear for a similar amount o' time. had to quit a heroics run over the weekend as content became unplayable. am also gonna note that the respawn time for "mutations" on taris for pub side is prohibitive. 5 minutes? get five or more folks doing at same time? as an aside, removal o' the belsavis bonus dailies is saddening 'cause, as we noted earlier in this thread, they provided excellent influence for pre kotfe companions. am also disappointed that savage skies is no longer daily, but we got so many 65s at this point that it don't matter-- am unable to get all our 65s to do complete heroic runs for the week. yeah, savage skies daily were clear a bug, but we do kinda miss it. another complete aside, am suspecting that a few classes is gonna need adjustments. vigilance guardian should not be competing with plasmatech for best aoe dps. tactics vanguards are arguably op. am gonna need play around a bit more, but both shadow dps specs seem inexplicable weak in pve. gunslingers and marksman is continuing to be excellent, but perhaps too good compared to most other classes other than tactics vanguard. am kinda conflicted about sentinels/marauders. we are back to situation where watchman is clear best pve spec for sentinels. watchman likely needed a boost, but am not in favor of clear win specs. haven't had much time to play our commandos/mercs, so can't comment on those. have only healed sage/sorc, and our tanking has been nothing other than heroics and single-player stuff... and pvp. am gonna say that for pvp, the shift towards defense has hurt all tanks a bit. regardless, there is some changes needed. HA! Good Fun!
  20. hmmm am not sure the game against the imploding eagles should convince you that winston were the better choice. statistically, winston and mariotta is hardly having fantastic years, but mariotta has a slight edge. ... also, the tb organization is gonna be holding its collective breath for at least a couple o' years hoping that winston's off-the-field antics at fsu do not reemerge in tampa. steal crab legs and make stoopid tweets were almost comical, but the 10k damage to an apartment building resulting from a bb gun battle and the rape allegations (allegations that the university and local cops made difficult to investigate) is stuff that we have difficulty writing off as collegian immaturity. get through at least one off-season w/o incident before you start to breathe easier. oh, and rookie seasons for qbs are extreme misleading. is more than a few rookie qbs who has had scintillating freshman nfl campaigns followed by forgettable careers. converse, some all-time greats has had poor introductions to the nfl. we would need wait til end of sophomore campaign to make any kinda comparison 'tween mariotta and winston and have confidence in doing so. HA! Good Fun!
  21. dunno, but bio kinda backed themselves into the corner by stating that all h2s should be soloable and that folks should respond following 4.02 if a particular h2 were not... not soloable. we took a newish vigilance guardian in 192 and 208 gear through h2 star fortress with a 49 influence comp. now admittedly we likely chose a tough scenario as guardians is melee, got no cc and vigilance is now an aoe spec, but we got destroyed fighting the champs. sure our influence rank with alliance recruiters were non existent, so no specialist items, but had (have) high presence, am knowing what we are doing... particularly on a guardian. am also gonna note that a couple h2s on various planets (but particularly makeb) were indeed soloable for our fresh 65 jedi knight, but they were not easy. am certain that a couple o' h2s would not be soloable for more than a few folks with less presence and experience. we didn't have same dying problem with a tanky guardian, but the sf missions take a considerable amount o' time on a tank when comp is set to heals. HA! Good Fun!
  22. I loved that flick. It was such a positive, hopeful experience. am a huge fan o' walter mitty. who wouldn't like a movie with danny kaye and boris karloff? virgina mayo were one o' our favorite actresses during the 40s and she played the damsel not in distress perfect in mitty. wait, you aren't talking 'bout the horrible stiller remake, are you? HA! Good Fun!
  23. as wacky as it sounds, we faced this exact problem a couple christmases ago. like so many folks nowadays, our lady didn't wear a watch and our attempts to sneak a peek at her jewelry box (no double entendre intended) were comical failures. ok. keep in mind that we ain't actual recommending this as an option, but we got so frustrated trying to get our current girlfriend's wrist measurement that we came up with a ridiculous scam. girlfriend shows up at our home and sees us measuring our ankle with a piece o' string and a tape-measure. she were curious and asked us what the heck we were doing. natural. so we tell her that a johns hopkins study observed a correlation between wrist v. ankle diameter and prevalence o' high blood pressure. am not sure if we claimed greater difference between wrist and ankle were better or not. am pretty sure we came up with imaginary numbers for pacific islanders and inuit peoples as 'posed to europeans and other ethnic groups. utter nonsense, but we sold it well. so am fumbling with this string measuring wrist and ankle and we ask if we can measure her ankle and wrist. now admitted, we turned it into a nc-17 measuring exercise, so she likely thought that were our goal from the start, but we got her wrist measurement... and a bit more. appealed to her natural curiosity-- medical and prurient. again, am not suggesting going this route as it were, in retrospect, asinine... but it worked. HA! Good Fun!
  24. with how frequent we has seen doctors disagree 'bout a diagnosis or simple don't know what is causing a patient to suffer, we came to the conclusion a Long time ago that medicine is as much art as science. good luck. hopeful it were one o' those inexplicable aberrations that never repeats.
  25. I second this, and since my grandpa grew and sold some heavy **** when he was alive, I've seen a lot of them. They say weed doesn't affect you but I've seen dozens transform over a longer period of time from bright people into bums whose slow brain processes you can literally see grinding behind their eyes as they struggle to get through forming a sentence. Anecdotal experience, but experience none the less, and that experience is that too much weed makes you a boring idiot. Many great famous songs and even albums have been created by musicians on acid and/or coke, not to mention stage performance with the latter drug. Rod steward for example consumed so much coke he had to stuff it into pills and take it anally because his nose was constantly bleeding, and he was high as kite when he wrote many of his songs. But thats coke and acid, on the other hand I had a classmate who turned himself into vegetable with weed. In a matter of three years his health, especially his mental health, degraded like crazy. Last time I saw him he completed his transformation into a slow witted, sickly thin and confused guy. So much for one of the healthiest drugs. As for myself, I can't stand any drugs, I don't even like alcohol, I want to be in control of myself all the time. I feel like I'm not myself when I'm drugged / intoxicated and that feeling is absolutely awful. and some folks insist that they drive better while drunk or high. am recalling a bob dylan concert we attended a longish time ago. he came out on stage and it were clear the moment he started to play that he were drunk... or having a stroke. crowd got angry and started heckling. there were less than two minutes of inebriated fumbling by dylan before he gives the crowd a hearty "%#$@ You!" saluted the audience with the bird and then exited the stage. am betting he thought he were doing just fine. is some folks so talented that they can play music drunk? probably. most amateurs likely don't have the ear to realize that a musician is flubbing unless it is blatant obvious. also, am recalling a few rockers, such as eddie van halen, who agreed that once they got clean, they were far more proficient at their craft. 'course those folks typical end up succumbing to their addiction and then argue that they is better than ever. *shrug* sonny jurgensen, 'ccording to more than a few sources, played football as an nfl quarterback whilst frequent under the influence o' alcohol. is hard to imagine. as for writing songs or poetry, am s'posing that an altered state can result in inspiration. is not the same as being "smarter and more focused," 'least not in a conventional sense. HA! Good Fun!
