The current attribute system has exactly the same layout as the one Matt and I proposed in October last year. I don't recall making any specific suggestion to implement hard counters because I know that it would have been a futile effort. I was against XP for traps and locks (I don't think there's anyone here that will disagree that they were only haphazardly implemented to shut the people up who were complaining about them on the forums) but that's not a big deal at all. How experience is payed out is pretty inconsequential to the things the player does in combat. So I'm not exactly sure about what different direction you're referring to at least with those three examples. You've mentioned this a few times, but you don't list any specific examples (likely due to laziness). Most of the factual corrections were because Obsidian had changed the mechanics of how something worked. the fact that obsidian changed the attribute system after release. does not change your mewling before and after the change. you shoulda' been happy 'bout the change and yet you were still complaining. and we didn't mention trap or lock xp as your concern... you naughty boy. regardless, we gave the links. check any number o' josh response to sensuki... particular near release. too lazy to bother looking? *snort* and yeah, even codex saddled you with the cuck title after your little multi-fora meltdown and dirtbag antics regarding pj's review. belated grats on the well-earned handle. HA! Good Fun! ps deleted material as this is gonna become another thread where sensuki plays the victim *chuckle* and white march 2 becomes a side topic. guy gets double-secret probation at sa for chrissakes. gotta be pretty over-the-top for that. even so, is our fault for answering achilles' query. is on us.

I'm not exactly sure what point you're trying to make. if you say so. regardless, you made many suggestions regarding issues such as ability points and hard counters and xp awards, no? is a great many instances in which obsidian went a different direction, and even when the direction obsidian went were a relative minor change, you took... poorly. and so we end up with the sensuki we got today. http://forums.somethingawful.com/query.php?action=posthistory&userid=17931 http://forums.somethingawful.com/query.php?action=posthistory&userid=194732 is actual amusing how many factual corrections o' sensuki posts josh made over at the SA boards. still, is too bad as you were making a real contribution til your pride (or whatever) git hurt. HA! Good Fun!

in our first attempt, we used a newish 65 dps in mostly 208 gear and a heal companion with 49 influence, and got murderlized in star fortress when facing a named champ. kinda funny. HA! Good Fun! ps am not sure we would even try again at this point 'less we had a bubble sage. pps had better luck playing a well-geared tank... as a dps we would need cc and some survivability talents as our 49 and 50 influence healers is less efficacious than they were when they were geared with the purple 192 gear from the yavin weeklies. -

the companion healers have been nerfed hard. am not sure how some folks with lower presence is gonna complete the makeb heroics solo. HA! Good Fun! -
we prefer tb for games with a large dose of squad-based tactical combat, games such as poe. 'course, if one is gonna come up with a short list o' defining qualities o' the ie games, rtwp is gonna be on the list (just as d&d rules inspired hard counters and per kill xp would not be on such a list.) try and make a game that appeals to those folks who played and loved such games as bg2 and iwd without rtwp would be an odd choice even if it would be one Gromnir would prefer in a game with so much squaddie tactical combat. similarly, if espoused goal is to increase options for player customization, we see no need for classes, which is inherently limiting. but to do a kickstarter such as poe and make classless would be a head scratcher o' a choice. obsidian did an admirable job with poe rtwp and classes in spite o' the fact that our ideal crpg would include neither as a feature. HA! Good Fun!

Since I wrote that, the game has also added immunity to afflictions. Since those don't prevent you from inflicting damage, they're obviously not hard counters either. Could be, but I don't remember Josh explaining it quite like that. Not that it matters, as long as they are going back to what was good. but they aren't going back, which were kinda the point, yes? while some has tried to characterize the changes as a return to d&d/ie game hard counters, poe ain't implementing such. is not going back to what was... bad. HA! Good Fun!

the patch notes and developer board clarifications is a bit confusing... or not so much confusing as perplexing. there is a nerf to companion's base healing, but benefits from boosting influence has actual become more significant? is an odd approach to companion healing (and damage) overkill. HA! Good Fun! ps guardian tanks is solid at the moment, but vigilance is a head scratcher. am recalling the ridiculous pvp power o' smash juggs and guardians in an old build. focus guardians and juggs would simple jump into largest concentration o' foes and release the kraken-- aoe stuns and op damage. no fair. smash were predictable nerfed and focus became a meh tree for guardians and juggs. is odd, but is 4.0 vigilance that is making us recollect ye bad olde smash juggs and guardians. vigilance guardian may now be the 4.0 aoe dps grand poobah. vigilance? plasmatech aoe damage were spiffy in 3.0, but 4.0 guardian may be superior as it is so ez to spam your aoe. regardless, is just plain weird that vigilance is the aoe damage dealer for a 4.0 guardian. -
try jogging? am not actual a fan o' jogging, but gonna pass on the recommendation for watching the wizard of oz *wink* with our ex. HA! Good Fun!

marijuana use (even limited use) poses serious dangers for developing brains, and human brains ain't fully matured (typically) until early 20s. that being said, it ain't as if we is morally offended by an adult who chooses to get high. *chickle* had a girlfriend who liked weed. her favorite movie were the wizard of oz, but she had only seen the film while baked. she had seen wizard many times. ... personally, we ain't yet met the person who were smarter and more focused while intoxicated or high. Gromnir ain't too bright and we need every advantage we can get. so, no weed or booze or other recreational drugs for Gromnir... though we will cook with alcohol. oh, and our family history is such that it would be irresponsible o' us to ignore our increased likelihood o' alcohol and drug addiction. have seen addicts struggle to quit. am figuring it takes less willpower to never partake than to overcome addiction. HA! Good Fun!

am not seeing a point o' your "what if?" given we is discussing a mode, there is at least the implication that it is an optional feature. a mode that reduces trash battle numbers personal sounds more appealing than one that reduces overall difficulty o' battles in general (isn't that what the difficulty slider does?), but this ain't an option for Gromnir regardless. doesn't make a difference to us... and why should it? if is an optional feature that will make poe more appealing to folks- folks not Gromnir- then am having difficulty seeing a drawback. *shrug* this ain't like bg or iwd reroll. is amusing how many folks would complain o' bg and iwd ease but forget to mention that they built a custom party o' characters who all had at least 3 ability scores o' 18 and max hps. well golly, what a surprise. optional story mode is not gonna affect how obsidian must need balance the game for Gromnir, so other than the suggestion that storymode is an unnecessary waste o' resources that could be better spent increasing content 'stead o' broadening appeal of the existing game, we see no reasonable argument 'gainst inclusion... and it not make any difference if mode reduces # o' trash battles or difficulty o' such battles. why would it? HA! Good Fun!
-
that sounds like a good option to Gromnir, though is likely we would never use it. have a way so that a player could skip all trash battles? why should inclusion o' such bother Gromnir. am recalling a longtime contributor to these boards who Gromnir frequent disagreed with on mechanics issues. we never could understand what Di found appealing 'bout rolling o' character stats, but one reason she gave for such were that she were not a fan o' the combat in all the ie games. she were also a biggie fan o' jagged alliance, so it ain't as if she hated game combat in general, but she played the ie games for the stories. so, she would roll an uber character and then reduce combat difficulty.... and then she would like the ie games very much. why on earth would an option that makes game more widely accessible annoy Gromnir? oh, and am anticipating late january as we still ain't played part 1 of the xpac... and have been avoiding boards for most part so we can give a full play o' the xpac an untainted and untarnished play. HA! Good Fun!

we can say with certainty that some o' those "12" or "13" for qyzen is wrong, but not in a harmful way. based on the format used in that guide, a few o' those double-digit numbers should be changed to "0." good guide though and we will use when we level our powertech or sniper on harbinger. thanks for sharing. qb troubles aside, am surprised at the problems the broncos have had on defense the past couple weeks. on the positive side, the broncos are facing the bears next week, and the bears, in spite o' their win against the rams, is depleted along both the d-line and o-line as well as at rb and wr... and alshon jefferies, arguably the bears best offensive weapon, is playing injured. *shrug* titans, jags, lions, browns, 49r's and bears is, in our opinion, the worst teams in the nfl as o' today... with chargers right on the bubble. broncos got seven wins and two games 'gainst chargers and one 'gainst bears on their remaining schedule. even with manning healthy, games vs. cincy and pats will be tough. raiders is capable o' beating any team in the nfl, but they is still a couple years away from being a complete team. steelers with roethlisberger is a very good team. looking at the remaining schedule, the bears game looks like one o' the few games the broncos should be confident about winning... particular w/o manning. HA! Good Fun!

oh, well, because you know it, it must be true. everyone knows that the majority o' media sources in malaysia is state controlled-- a tool for misleading their people. everyone knows that religious and personal freedoms in malaysia are limited compared to virtual all western nations. everyone knows that a disheartening percentage o' populace o' malaysians polled support isis, and that a disturbing number has joined to fight with isis. see, we can put "everyone knows" in front o' a statement and make it true. no? 'course our statements actual is true, but so it goes. bah. bruce is correct. this thread is complete off the rails and almost nobody is speaking 'bout paris attacks anyways. done. getting nowhere with increasingly agitated qistina or willingly following zor as he once again circles down the drain is pointless. HA! Good Fun!

"it's all about dialling back the expectations and making their policy not look like a hapless clusterasterisk at this point while trying to make sure Russia gets no credit." oh, zor. have been down this road with you many times. never change. as for responding to qistina, am thinking the board response is expected. we don't have a fundamentalist muslim pov on this board save for qistina. she expresses consternation that her nation and religion is being unfairly vilified, then she posts and seems to validate all those western misconceptions. most o' us is baffled/concerned by the dogma we tend to hear from muslim sources, but we almost never hear from ordinary folks living in malaysia or iran or wherever save for comments sections of various news sites... and how much can we rely on such contributions? so, when qistina posts 'bout how much malaysia protects religious rights o' non muslims (*snicker*) or when she speaks o' the antichrist, she seems to reaffirm many o' the preconceptions folks have 'bout FOREIGN followers o' islam. how many of us just don't understand the religious radical or fundamentalist pov? Gromnir has been on panels with muslim academics. we has, 'cause o' our job, frequent discussed issues o' free speech and religion with american muslims. but teh rheal muslims living in nations such as malaysia? HA! Good Fun!

am knowing that green bay has been hit hard by injuries, but the packers were similarly snake-bit earlier in the year. am admitted shocked at the speed with which the packers has gone from a nfc favorite to play in the super bowl to... whatever they are today. minnesota looks like the class o' the nfc north, not that such is saying much. however, while the vikings defense is getting less press than they should considering the excellent job they has done this far, they too are 1 injury away from disaster-- their lb corps has been hit hard. wacky year o' football, and so many teams is defined by their injury report as 'posed to actual play on the field. HA! Good Fun!

Like i said, America never give a fair deal, but that doesn't mean we no longer have dealings with USA...Presiden Obama just visited Malaysia you know...he come with a treaty, another unfair deal...the TTPA... It is a convenient the president visit us after the incident of MH370 and MH17............we know your game........ calling bs. if deal were so bad, then why were f/a 18 e/f a finalist along with grippen and russian su 30 mkms in malaysia's recent attempt to upgrade air force? malaysia continued to get hornet support from boeing and the us dod in the form o' continued training hardware upgrades. you are being fed bs from your media and naive if you think that the us provided empty hornet shells to malaysia over a decade ago and that malaysia has continued to cooperate with us to upgrade, maintain, and train pilots for those hornets... as well as making new hornets a finalist for their recent fighter aircraft upgrade. nonsense. all o' which is so utterly irrelevant to what is going on in paris and the middle east and africa. aside, we agree with bruce and others that focus on paris is unfortunate but understandable. we personal were annoyed when the charlie hebdo stuff were occupying headlines when at similar time an entire town in northern nigeria were razed by boko haram. we complained 'bout the lack o' sympathy for the folks o' baga on these boards (http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/66161-boko-haram-and-the-kidnpping-of-the-school-girls/?p=1556307) nigeria claims that 150 people were killed and and thousands displaced (as opposed to the estimates o' anywhere from 1000 to 2000 fatalities from more objective sources). baga shoulda' garnered more attention. unfortunately, news o' violence in the middle east and africa is so common that it westerners rare pay attention to such stuff. have a story that only 150 people died in africa and middle east in 2015 due to sectarian violence and THAT would be a story. is terrible, but we expect violence and bloodshed in the middle east. is not news if is ordinary? maybe. HA! Good Fun! Gromnir why do feel the need to debate like this with Qistina ? You can't really feel the need to win this debate and it should be obvious that there is a language translation problem and lack of overall insight on certain matters,,,,this is not Zora you are debating with, with him you always have to win well, we had stopped... then we saw the antichrist stuff. *eye roll* spew that kinda nonsense and then claim that western media is giving distorted view o' malaysia's islamic state? were funny... and wrong. as an aside, we prefer our antichrist riding a trike https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kg9-axPBw1g HA! as an aside, malaysia still has f/a EIGHTEEN hornets in its air force, and has had such for many years. those hornets were not sold as empty shells. they has been continually upgraded via a contract with boeing. as recently as may o' 2015, malaysia was buying AIM-120 AMRAAM from the US in an effort to maintain their hornets. recently, malaysia were OFFERED f/a 18 e/f super hornets, but malaysia decided to choose russian alternatives. what sorta nonsense is malaysia media spinning, eh? The Weird, Random, and Interesting things that Fit Nowhere Else Thread
Gromnir replied to Blarghagh's topic in Way Off-Topic
am not a fan of mma, and our appreciation for boxing has waned over the years. is a shame too as we were a genuine boxing fan from time we were young and throughout our university years. am thinking that ppv kinda backfired for boxing as a whole. sure, for those fighters that can get a big ppv payout, the money is better now than ever before, but there were a time when boxing were in the conversation when speaking o' the most popular spectator sports in the USA. back in the day when abc wide world o' sports (and the other networks too) would have boxing on tv just about every saturday, it were easy to be a fan. typical, during spring and summer, saturday afternoon sports on tv were either boxing or bowling... and maybe a baseball game. then again, our appreciation o' boxing began to wane before ppv. had kinda a big impact on us. we continued to watch the major heavyweight battles up through tyson and holyfield years, but the whole sport seemed a bit too barbaric after the duk-koo kim fight. that is the reason we dont like mma. is even more obvious bloodsport than boxing. in any event, we always kinda chuckled when we heard rousey claim that she could beat mayweather in a fight, but most o' the elite athletes is supreme self-confident. didn't know much 'bout mma, but we saw positives from such a popular female athlete getting worldwide recognition. good on her if by trading barbs with mayweather she could increase her own legend. however, after ronda rousey's recent comments regarding domestic violence, coupled with revelations from her biography (am not gonna call it an autobio when somebody else did all the writing) am admitting that we couldn't suppress our schadenfreude when we heard she were ko'd in the fight yesterday. HA! Good Fun! ps mayweather is such a dirtbag that we were amused when he got involved in a twitter battle with rousey. given his domestic violence history, mayweather were metaphorical fighting with one hand tied behind his back when verbal fighting rousey.
