  1. ignoring for the moment that fraud is one o' those fundamental crimes which every western nation has criminalized since there were western nations, every school mentioned in the fbi investigation, as well as the testing boards, is gonna be facing lawsuits which will no doubt be seeking damages in the multi-millions o' dollar ranges. each kid who paid an application fee at usc or paid sat to take their standardized test is gonna potential have opportunity to join in seeking compensation. a degree from yale or stanford, during a lifetime, is worth... dunno? millions? if yale didn't adequate police its stated admission policies to folks it charged money for admission submissions, they has made themselves vulnerable to huge damage claims. am suspecting it will be mighty tough for usc to claim reasonable ignorance if you got multiple kids admitted on lowered athlete grade and test scales if those kids never even participated in the designated sports for which they were given streamlined admissions. even if some folks gots no moral compass, which is in itself a terrible revelation, then there is still the pure practical ramifications o' the college schemes which should give persons pause. mistaken thinks this is small-timey? HA! Good Fun! ps numerous schools is surprising difficult to fail. https://www.businessinsider.com/13-schools-where-its-really-hard-to-fail-2013-5#sarah-lawrence-college-yonkers-ny-11 additional, almost every school has a few classes which is autopass for even the laziest students. takes planning, but may meet a substantial portion o' ge requirements w/o doing much work. also, if you cheated to get into school, is not hard to imagine cheating to graduate is it? the big time private schools have extreme helpful tutor programs for students willing to indulge. we went public, but lord knows how many guys Gromnir helped our first couple years at Cal. while we never wrote a paper for anybody, we did a good business coaching fellow students regarding their papers. fine line? definite. our efforts were known to athletic department and we got permission from school tutors as well. at what point were the papers written more by Gromnir than the folks we were tutoring? regardless, were shocking to us how many freshman at Cal didn't know how to write.
  2. am guessing death is much easier than pain. am not certain what is wrong with us o' late, but we haven't felt the urge to do any real cooking. as an example, breakfast, for almost two weeks, has been instantpot steel cut oatmeal (with freaking splenda no less) or bacon, cheese, onion and spinach frittata. lunch and dinner is no more interesting or varied. however, am making a seafood "stew" tomorrow. is not genuine a stew as am cooking relative brief, but we call it a stew anyway. sue us. using monkfish and shrimp. typical add squid but didn't like the look o' the squid offered to us at the fish market. capers, anchovies and kalamata olives help provide a depth o' flavor to the otherwise mild seafood choices. a few other odds and ends. may need to substitute a smidge o' vegetable stock as am needing three quarts fish stock and only have ~2.5-- am making more than a couple servings o' stew. HA! Good Fun!
  3. well then, am guessing the bag to hold the patches as eg described will not need be particular large. maybe just large enough to hold josh's other valuables? HA! Good Fun!
  4. Teen Inventor Designs Noninvasive Allergy Screen Using Genetics and Machine Learning now admitted our first thought were the kid is obvious kinda a milquetoast if he were genuine worked up 'bout whether his nut problem were food sensitivity or allergy (am thinking he has a whole different kinda "nut" problem,) but he has turned his issue into a pretty remarkable innovation. good on him. HA! Good Fun!
  5. the tragedy being you will never get back the moment. coulda' not searched and remained untainted and unsullied by weird 21st century fanspeak. *sigh* there was a moment. there was an ephemeral flicker o' time when gifted coulda' shrugged off the impulse to know... and so too did adam fall. on some level gifted knew 'fore searching he would be immersing self in one o' those banal millennial or tweener affectations. did it anyway, 'cause he were curious. is more than your youth which were here lost. HA! Good Fun! ps we didn't add emoticons so as to proper signpost, but am hopeful none take serious.
  6. K-Pop stars named in growing South Korea sex scandal poor lady crimson. we will light a candle for her for today, this day o' dread and sorrow, for on this morn we truly understand that scene from hamlet innocence has died and we are all diminished by the passing. oh and how doubly tragic and ironic as is it not white day? HA! Good Fun!
  7. huh. didn't hillary say she wasn't gonna run in 2020? HA! Good Fun!
  8. it is an odd image 'pon which to focus. if o'er the next week or so, josh also proclaims his love for the triplettes de belleville and shares images o' carrie-anne moss from the matrix, and suggests the following as his fave southern rock anthem , then perhaps there is something more to posting the 'bove image than mere sharing patch adoration. HA! Good Fun! ps we would be extreme suspicious if josh shared a lynyrd skynyrd song as a favorite, which would be another kinda tell. insisting the best three consecutive songs on any album release were ziggy stardust/suffragette city/rock and roll suicide might be more in character.
  9. it is the symbol for the triple crown option. https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Magran%27s_Fires HA! Good Fun! ps added linky
  10. giants is clear dedicated to a multiyear rebuilding process. add draft picks and an undervalued guy such as jabrill peppers is a good start to the process. odell beckham is a premier kinda wr, but am thinking the giants offense this coming year is gonna be sucky regardless o' off-season moves. eli didn't play particular poor in 2018 considering the pressure he were suffering and lack o' help he were receiving. draft a rb who is instant top 5 in the league at the position and the offense with a vet qb were nevertheless sub-average in 2018. is doubtful odell beckham woulda' been a rock o' support for the team in transition; bitching and moaning every week woulda' been our guess. particular if the giants is drafting a rookie qb who is gonna need a couple years to develop. obj, while a fantastic receiving target, could be a less than ideal teammate during critical first couple years for haskins or lock or jones. even so, is tough to see the giants as anything but the loser in the recent trade with the browns. giants now need a #1 receiver and given they likely will need trade-up to get haskins (or whomever,) their draft options will be limited when attempting to fill other needs. no matter who they choose as a replacement for obj, there will be a production drop-off as am not seeing any wr available via free agency or draft as an odell beckham equivalent. get extra picks is nice, but am not able to see the trade as anything other than a net loss for the guys from gotham. all the first round qb options this year, other than murray, is serious developmental projects. am not actual sold on murray, but he is a guy who we could see starting year 1 and playing well... before a predictable sophomore slump. as such, if giants has given up on eli, which looks to be a given at this point, and recognizing how any rookie qb is gonna be unsuited for replacing eli in 2019, am not thinking the giants acted complete unreasonable. as to the packers, while we thought amos were underrated, we initial thought the packers overpaid. given what safeties made in free agency last year, and recognizing just how many quality safeties were available this year, we thought safeties would again be under-valued. clearly the packers knew more than Gromnir, 'cause the amos contract, while large, looks like a bargain compared to the other fa safeties taken so far. now admitted, there is more than a couple o' safety prospects current projected as 2nd and even 3rd rounders who we believe will be starting nfl safeties; is one o' the few positions o' draft depth this year. even so, amos looks like one o' those under-the-radar fa wins which deserves more attention. HA! Good fun!
  11. so, ny is going after manafort. double jeopardy is gonna be an obvious issue for the bank fraud charges, though ny will attempt to use state business records laws circumvent constitutional and state dj issues. state tax issues is less clear problematic, but where cause o' action arises outta same act or offenses, dj typical shields the ny defendant. regardless, for manafort, HA! Good Fun!
  12. am thinking the fat content o' most real or whole dairy is the problem, though shady and others would know far more than Gromnir. as such am suspecting the occasional low-fat yogurt, though a vile perversion o' real yogurt, would be okie dokie for an individual suffering from ulcers. in fact, a traditional remedy for ulcer symptoms is to be drinking a glass o' milk, which is kinda counter-intuitive if an ulcer sufferer is simultaneous told to be cautious o' dairy products, no? am not claiming any kinda expertise. however, have had ulcer sufferers as acquaintances lament the cosmic unfairness o' being unable to indulge in their love o' cheese. HA! Good Fun!
  13. am seeming to recall shady is having peptic ulcer problems. as such, a small 'mount o' yogurt would help him with adding probiotics often recommended in an ulcer diet, but dairy in general is gonna result in acid production, which no doubt results in discomfort. a damned if you do conundrum, eh? to our way o' thinking, an ulcer diet would be proof the devil exists. have to forgo dairy, fatty and spicy foods? you must be joking. for shady it must be worse than would be for us as alcohol is also largely verboten when choosing a diet to account for ulcer problems. tell us we need subsist on oatmeal and sweet potatoes or endure gut-wrenching agony? would likely choose agony, but is easy to say such as am not enduring such pain. regardless, am suspecting shady would sacrifice some minor but significant body part if he could trade ulcer for simple lactose intolerance. just guessing. HA! Good Fun!
  14. kinda like choosing the best non-beverage item on a del taco menu at 3am? whatever is best will still make you wish you were dead after indulging. full disclosure: the last ninja centric movie we voluntarily watched were the challenge. it were pre american ninja. in our defense, it starred scott glenn and toshiro mifune. however, while it ain't a ninja movie, am gonna admit we immediate added last dragon to our netflix list as soon as it reappeared. HA! Good Fun!
  15. the bucs gave +$41 mil for three years, with $27 mil guaranteed next two years, to arguable one o' the worst starting left tackles in the league. am knowing good offensive tackles is always paid big, but message to the bucs: as a fan you got no choice but to hope. am sympathizing, but as an outsider, we would not place any trust in buccaneer player personnel decisions at this point. HA! Good Fun!
  16. quoted is how Gromnir uses reviews. am utter baffled by folks who get their knickers in a twist o'er reviews with which they disagree. didn't always agree with desslock game reviews but we tended to read his stuff 'cause we could use his opinions as a consistent comparative benchmark relative to our own preferences. is there any value in reviews save as a guide when deciding 'tween whether or not to purchase? lord knows we didn't like arcanum one iota more 'cause o' the plethora o' good reviews, though desslock mediocre review surprised us a bit... right up until we played arcanum. in retrospect, am thinking desslock gave arcanum too much praise. if Gromnir is indecisive 'bout a purchase, we will rely on reviews by professionals and acquaintances to help us resolve our dilemma. am rare seeing movies in theatres these days; a few times a year, at most. reviews help us decide if a rare ticket purchase is warranted. lord knows we don't use reviews to make us feel better 'bout movies we already like, or as vindication for our boredom. and yeah, the internet battles for the soul o' humanity fought on nerdling message boards, with rotten tomatoes scores as a measure o' victory in the ultimate battle 'tween the forces o' light and darkness, quixotic renders us both amused and disgusted, albeit in measures too insignificant to be worthy o' mention. lord knows we ain't gonna indulge in psychobabble claptrap to attempt to explain or validate yet another inane internet phenomenon. this post is the extent o' our reflexive rubberneck when passing yet another blood on the pavement moment. shame on us. mea culpa. HA! Good fun!
  17. the shelters in our neck o' the woods must be a bit different as am suspecting if we had told folks we were gonna feed the "rescued" pooches to our pet python, they wouldn't have cared overmuch. currently have four dogs. two were from shelters. one were our sister's. the last were from an acquaintance who realized they could not adequate maintain an active border collie. the folks at the shelter could hardly have processed the adoption quicker and gotten us out the door faster when we acquired the rescue dogs. we could almost hear the sub-vocalized prayer from staff: "please don't change your mind. please don't change your mind. please, please, please, don't change your mind, and may God have mercy on your soul." HA! Good Fun!
  18. the different standard for white collar crimes were the norm... before enron. since then, particular for public stuff, sentences has been quite a bit harsher. skilling got 24 years (?) and lay died after sentencing and before serving any time... something like 40 years for lay? kenneth rice, who cooperated fully with authorities, got 2ish years... again, am a little fuzzy on exact sentence length. if manafort were immediate post enron, am thinking it would be understandable for a holdout judge to issue a stop the madness kinda sentence as similar white collar nogoodnik cases were getting extreme long sentences w/o any explanation as to why there had been such a sea change from ye bad olde days. however, this is 2019 and not 2005, so am a little surprised. will need look at last few years to see what is typical sentence for manafort kinda stuff. am also gonna note how these individual sentences may look strange when viewed isolated. typical fed sentences for firearm and drug charges is ~5 years. is not hard to find examples o' exceptions, particular for state-level cases, but am speaking o' average. nevertheless, am gonna admit there should be some kinda look into over-the-top sentencing in a few jurisdictions for firearm possession crimes and for drug offenses. as to violent crimes... am admitted conflicted. you threaten or use violence to commit a crime and am understanding why the public has typical demanded higher sentences. likely has become excessive in a few cases, but democracy being what it is... HA! Good Fun!
  19. even if the bucs think enduring winston for one more season is reasonable, why make it obvious? bucs have the 5th pick in the draft. giants have the 6th. the stoopid trades in the draft is gonna be qb related. undercuts some o' the bucs pick leverage if they functional make clear they is willing to suffer jameis winston for at least one more season. odd. also $21 million ($20.92) is a big pile o' cash for a qb you don't want. throw in the towel in february is bad. throw in the towel and then eat the towel with $21 million in secret sauce makes less sense to us. on these boards we highlighted winston character issues before he were drafted, but we honest thought he would be a better-than-average nfl signal caller when he weren't suffering some kinda suspension, and in spite o' the headaches he would inevitable cause ownership with his shenanigans. gonna admit, jameis winston on-field failure has surprised us a bit. 2015 draft were, at the time and in retrospect, kinda weak. 2019 is also not a strong draft save for at a couple positions. HA! Good Fun!
  20. fixed games such as bg2 and the fallouts(interplay and Bethesda) never had all the public complained 'bout bugs addressed. skyrim and the like has been worse, and not better, insofar as bugs, particular long-term bugs, is concerned. is not an obsidian issue, for the most part. obsidian does have a tradition o' releasing a somewhat undercooked offering at release. is often baffling too as serious bugs which did not exist in the betas often show in the initial release o' obsidian games. the thing is, even before poe balance patches ended, poe got to a point o' relative high stability. sure, is one or two folks who railed from the lunatic fringe 'bout a couple persistent bugs, typical after playing game to death and posting literal hundreds o' times in the build portion o' the board, but for most folks, poe were stable compared to vast catalog o' anything remote similar in pc computer gaming. turn-based. … if deadfire, from start of development had included turn-based, we woulda' applauded. whatever. point is, current bugginess is not business-as-usual from obsidian. add tb at end o' game's post release development, appears to have resulted in the instability we are seeing. and if the weird new explosion o' bugs which has kept us from playing deadfire since start o' january is unrelated to tb implementation, then am complete nonplussed as our fundamental notions o' cause and effect would be severe undercut. regardless, am hopeful the suppress affliction and the aoe weapons effects bugs is addressed some time before we turn fifty. HA! Good Fun!
  21. seems plausible. however, am gonna admit, this particular rumour has legs, so to speak. https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/108392-nfl-2019-2020/?p=2141072 if is a smokescreen, then cardinals have been doing a good job o' selling it as something more substantial, 'cause rumor started in earlyish-to-mid february and has only gotten more believable thanks to cardinals coach comments. am admitting, we never were convinced rosen were a franchise qb, but he were getting slobberknockered last year-- no nfl qb were protected worse. this kinda rumour doesn't happen unless the cardinals is supporting the rumour, which if they ain't serious 'bout trading him, sends a bad message to a young qb who may be having confidence issues after a disastrous rookie campaign. regardless, am admitting we were having a difficult time believing the rumour when we first heard it, but... 'course as we noted elsewhere, the real 2019 nfl draft qb mystery for us is the buccaneers. perhaps the bucs is not convinced any o' the top qbs in 2019 is franchise and they are gonna wait for herbert from oregon? understandable, but bucs didn't even wait for the draft to do their roberto durán impression? as usual, is a bit o' pre-draft drama related to qbs. HA! Good Fun!
  22. didn't read the link, but would hardly be shocking after fox s'posed fed questions pre-debate to a preferred candidate during the 2016 cycle. HA! Good Fun! ps only unfortunate aspect is how the majority o' fox news people, unlike the fox opinion/talking heads, is ranging from good to excellent. have a guy like chris wallace barred from debates 'cause o' the shenanigans o' hannity and ailes is a loss not just for fox.
  23. am suspecting there is some funny math at work. am not thinking any military guy ever described grant as a particular brilliant general. however, unlike previous union commanders, grant were willing to sacrifice personnel and material seeming regardless o' costs. lee, though not in our mind the best o' the confederacy commanders, were hampered by the reality o' finite resources. every dead soldier and lost piece o' artillery were a far more serious problem for the confederacy. so compare a longstreet to a grant or sherman based on the video's maths may be missing vital qualities, which would explain a few notable discrepancies. will also observe how the hannibal quote included in the video regarding history's greatest commanders were selective. pyrrhus were in hannibal's top three military commanders. oh, and wiki as a resource? c'mon man. regardless, is a fun list to discuss, as many such lists is. HA! Good Fun!
  24. As I understand it state supported universities are considered to be part of the government, so can't curtail free speech. They can, however, control disruptive speech since they're a place of education so, for example, local state universities typically have "free speech zones" that are placed in areas of campus so that, for example, random people can come and shout about how all youths are sinners and gay people will burn in hell or whatever while not disrupting the educational process on what is, in essence, government property. The student safety cancellation stuff was a bit of an end run around this and I'm not sure would realistically stand up to a challenge (memory says it was challenged and didn't, but I'm not going to be bothered to look it up). essential correct regarding public universities. is some extreme limited situations when a state funded/run universities may curtail free speech beyond typical first amendment limits. we mentioned the biology professor trying to teach creationism earlier in this thread. the biology professor may go and teach creationism to listeners in parks and on public streets, but he might be prevented from doing so at a state University. however, for the most part, state schools gotta protect Constitutional free speech rights. similar, if your employer is the US Department of Forestry, your free speech rights related to your employment is different than would be so if you were a greeter at Walmart. the Courts has been mighty critical o' student safety appeals to curtail speech. Cal lost a recent court battle wherein they cancelled a milo whatshisname speech 'cause o' possibility o' violence. cost the university $70k, lawyer fees (yay! more than $70k for lawyer fees btw,) and were forced to revise university student safety protocols. understandable, the Court were more than a little dubious 'bout Cal fears and were much concerned 'bout the exploitive possibilities o' Cal's current policy. antifa doesn't want the ghost of Bob Hope to speak at Cal. antifa knows Cal will cancel any speech if violence is possible. therefore antifa threatens violence if Bob Hope's spectre is allowed on campus. Cal cancels the Bob Hope event. obvious problem, no? antifa is able to dictate which speakers is allowed on campus by threatening illegal activity? Court tells Cal to go home and do their free speech homework 'cause they got a D- so far. 'course the trump threats is a little different. is a funding threat. https://www.oyez.org/cases/1986/86-260 to a certain degree, the fed may limit funds received by states, if those states do not follow certain guidelines. you want highway funding dollars? then you gotta have a under-twenty-one alcohol prohibition. trump tried to extend the aforementioned rationale to the executive branch and threatened funds going to sanctuary cities. Courts has so far not been favorable to the trump administration's efforts. our recollection is all sanctuary cities got their monies save for Portland, Oregon and that were more due to procedural incompetence on the part o' the Portland plaintiffs. as such, trump efforts to impose wh authored first amendment guidelines on universities which is already subject to first amendment protections is likely doomed, but as with muslim ban, he very well could force the issue and eventual get some kinda watered-down version o' what he is promising. HA! Good Fun!
  25. I think Trump is just playing up to his base here, because you know, 'owning the libs'. how many times have we heard the same? started with doomed-from-the-start muslim ban. during the campaign, moderate republican trump supporters defended trump muslim ban comments 'cause of course trump weren't serious 'bout an obvious unconstitutional muslim ban. posturing. playing to the crowd. once he gets elected, all the bluster will evaporate. then trump got elected and he went and did it. sure, the Courts knocked the stuffing outta his first couple attempts at a muslim ban (with worked in preferential treatment for christians no less,) but his base cheered 'cause trump did what he said he was going to do, or something like that. trump is exact as cohen described in his testimony, but his base knows what trump is. they don't care what trump is. the problem is, the base thinks all politicians is liars and cheats. get a piece in the new yorker revealing just how intertwined is fox and trump? the base doesn't care 'cause from their point o' view, all media sources lie and is biased. the difference: trump is their cheat and their liar and he is fighting the dirty politicians and fake media with his own brand o' dirty tricks and biased media. the base is gonna cheer him all the way, and perhaps cheer louder when he acts outrageous or underhanded 'cause is 'bout time somebody went after the dastardly nogoodniks in washington with a dose o' their own medicine, yes? *groan* is insane, but is happening. as long as trump keeps trying to do what he claims he is gonna do, no matter how asinine and doomed, his base is gonna keep cheering him forward, 'cause he is their guy. HA! Good Fun!
