  1. The only problem I foresee about this is if the majority of game owners are trolls and up vote the rick roll voice pack :D Heh other than that this is a great idea if the game gets some sort of steam workshop integration, but that would become a problem for the non steam owners.
  2. But this is not DnD. There is no such mechanic in PoE (thankfully, when it comes to the magic-weapons-thing, imo, since it was a blanket immunity for no sensible reason); the reason your people are yelling out is because you are failing to penetrate their Damage Resistance/Threshold, likely because you are using a "bad" weapon. Well in a sense it is a type of immunity, i.e. its a magical creature and needs a magical sword to touch it; but moving to a more practical example, do fire creatures take damage from fire? Do undead gain health from healing? etc. not having some types of hard immunities seem very counter intuitive, but I guess obsidian was trying to simplify the rules in this case.
  3. Yea, but I mean are there enemies where you can only hit them with a "+5" sword for example, in dnd there are cases where a creature could only get hit with certain magic swords regardless of how awesome your attack rolls are.
  4. The solution I think is for adding of buffs per each encounter completed since your last rest. That way there is a combat penalty for constantly resting.
  5. I'm not that far into the game, but tell me are there any "my weapon has no effect!" moments? Cause if that is missing as well then I am sorely disappointed.
  6. Would pay for more voice acting. Originally when BG EE got announced I was hoping for something like that but they did not fail to disappoint. Hopefully since this is a new game, and the voice actors hopefully are still in reach this could be attempted.
  7. If that's to easy then go for the no rest for a pro achievement, while doing the three crowns at the same time.
  8. Lack of immunities are... disappointing. That being said I did get quite a lol when I proned my first ooze.
  9. The best looking cRPGs out of the blackisle bioware era are definitely the IE games with their pre-rendered+artistic touch up environments. NWN1 was a very nice game, but it didn't look nice to be honest. DA:O on PC's UI/control formula is the best formula if you are going to go 3d with this type of game, but honestly at the end of the day the 2d layered pre-renders are better. I was just thinking now of the most memorable moment in NWN: some random guard on the gates of a mansion mistakes me for his lord and gives me his full report of everything inside and outside, my response? "Excelent!! Now die!" :DDD
  10. It looks nice but I personally would like to see more cRPGs in the format of IE engine style backgrounds. There's a artistic style that comes with it that got lost hen everything moved over to 3d rendering.
  11. You can give a slight bonus when stealthing slowly over normal mode, or alternately a penalty to any rolls to spot stuff - of course this would be problematic if the game doesn't make periodic roles when your characters "hang out" near a hidden object to see if someone spots them or not. Stealth itself would still be for sneaking closer to enemies or luring them etc.
  12. I think it improves on the IE games in most aspects, except I think the camping supplies change has just added busy work for those who wish to rest at all costs; also I think the attributes system could have been better, plain dnd 6 attributes work better in my opinion than what we currently have. Needing to stealth to spot secrets is a bit annoying. Of course path finding seriously needs attention, I don't know if the green circles are too small or what but too many times spaces that should be passable aren't for whatever reason and your characters start running in all sorts of random directions to try get there. Of the good, I really love the chanter class and the full page story telling interludes with the SFX, it's really great to "turn on" the imagination.
  13. When I entered defiance bay the whole map was already uncovered: is it suppose to be this way?
  14. As the player is frustrated/angered from needing to camp more often his decision making prowess falters resulting in increased difficulty :-P
  15. Going back to town to rest is nothing but busy work. If you get to a fight and you can't get through it with your wizards per encounter/auto-attack etc, and you got no more supplies to rest then you up and run to town and run back. The act of running to town and coming back is busy work; nothing more nothing less. This behavior can only be stopped if you had a "awake" buff that builds up over time, which will make the player choose between do I try with my "time awake buff" or do I reload (as in wizard spell launcher magazine); instead of this though we get the "I'm tiered penalty - which is perfectly normal and understandable But if you want to stop people spam resting whenever it suites them then you got to make the lose something useful for combat when resting, as well as reloading the wizard.
  16. The path finding stuffing up has been a real frustration for me personally as well. Spell casters running up to targets could have been solved by the developers by providing in game range indicator rather than expecting a player to go open up a description and try and estimate the range with their isometric eye. On the AOE and pathing finding related to AOE: the game itself should let you make mistakes, that being said the UI should show a planned route for characters when shift is used. UI should also have a "queue" for characters that can be seen. You can also solve some of the problems by simply leaving some sort of indicator on the ground where another character of yours had planned to land a spell. Basically, path finding one with characters just wiggling around or going around the wrong side of a mosh etc. is clearly something bugged. The rest are convenience feature requests.
  17. At the end of the day when it comes to attributes the question is, does it result in diversification through min/maxing or not. In DND it does because your class dictates what is going to get used for defense(armor or dex) and what attribute is going to get used for damage or number of spells. Currently in pillars this is not so much the case class matters very little in stat selection, rather it comes down to this: does he stand in front to soak damage or swing hard, and if he isn't in front then its might and dex for attack speed/damage. Things like interrupt/concentration/AOE/Duration become "support" attributes. The one thing that grits me personally about the stat system is there's no way to modify "To Hit" other than gear, your class, and your level. So there is no way to increase the amount of hits a character lands, so the only option left is DEX for more hits to be thrown out. From the reverse side deflection can get pumped up by two attributes making you harder to hit etc. TLDR; this stats system needs some serious work in my opinion, currently I agree with the OP.
  18. It would be nice to have the good old AI scripts from the BG days. At a minimum I would like AI that doesn't go full retard with their path finding and auto attack stuff on the other-side of the "mosh" instead of helping other party members focus fire the target they are busy with..
  19. That is really interesting, so the best way to get a max "to hit"/"to crit" build is to pick one of the 30 accuracy classes with a hearth Orlan..., are there one handed ranged weapons, in the game? If so that could give another "bonus" to accuracy outside of buffs/talents.
  20. Ok, so I just want to clarify, in terms of raising of base accuracy then when leveling; does it go up a specific amount per class or a fixed amount, or are you required to spend a talent to raise it when you level, or can you do both?
  21. Dex raises your accuracy? I'm actually asking because I can't find any help that indicates how to raise it other than leaving your offhand free.
  22. How do you raise/maximize your "to hit" / accuracy? Melee vs Ranged? How do you maximize your "Crit" chance?
  23. I personally would prefer no profanity, however the world of Pillars of Eternity is much darker it seems than the world of Faerûn. My impression is that obsidian maybe added a dash of game of thrones to it, if not an excessive amount. Also on the old DnD games Wizards of the Coast were the owners so they had the say of what goes in and what doesn't so they were also cleaning it up, since they were protecting their franchise. Now obsidian owns it and they are doing whatever they want basically. It would be nice to have a profanity drop-down in the options though which can allow Full/Masked/Fantasy/None as options. With fantasy being my personal preference.
