  1. I already mentioned in another thread thay I'm usually playing as a mage, but this time I might go with a Cipher (because it's even more specific to this universe). So it's either a Cipher or a Wizard and I'm leaning more towards the former =) As a race, I'll probably choose a Godlike Aumaua or Orlan, wanna try out the new races first.
  2. I can somewhat relate to this, though my case is quite different. Firstly, I'm a bit younger ( ), but I also tend to flip into this meta mode. Or at least it happened with my first playthrough of Planescape: Torment, which I finished at the end of last year. But I think that was actually more because I wanted to see and experience everything (because of my humongous backlog, which consist of a big amount of old and new RPGs), so I risked some looks at various walkthroughs. Believe it or not, it did not seem to dimish my enjoyment of the game that much, though. Secondly, the first "RPG" I ever played (for real) was Mass Effect. Yeah, I know, it's an ARPG, or whatever you'd like to call it, but at the time I didn't make such distinctions. I just really enjoyed the universe, the characters and the story. It impressed me. And I knew of the story before I played the game and I still loved the heck out of it (and went on to invest quite a few hours in the games). So bearing this in mind, I was afraid I couldn't get into the classics, especially the D&Ds. But I really did enjoy P:T. Hopefully I'll also be able to enjoy Baldur's Gate and the NWN series. I also bought all the Ultimas, but I don't think I'll ever play through the first three DA:O is probably the first game I played that can qualify as a CRPG and I also enjoyed it. Now, hardcore gamers might hate me for this, but honestly I think "the dumbing down" of various elements is sometimes in favor of the enjoyment of the game. I can live without quest markers (as I did in P:T, where I usually found my target without a walkthrough), but as far as combat systems, resting and other such mechanics are concerned, I prefer the "ARPG/modern CRPG approach", if you know what I mean. Ultimately, the way you view games really depends on which games you grew up with/which "era" you lived in and what your current situation is. As a student I can't (or shouldn't ) waste my time on hard-core battles or despair because of various mechanics and I'm playing RPGs for the story, anyway (of course, everybody has their own motivations). Think I'll enjoy this game a lot, though =)
  3. I like to have companions for the banter and their stories. Maybe I'll try some custom made ones at some point, but I'm not really that crazy about them.
  4. I'd like to thank everybody who made this possible (Devs and backers alike), too. I think this was the first project that brought my attention to KS, although I did not back it then, sadly. Only backed it recently, because I thought I'd buy it anyway when it'll come out =)
  5. This subject is a very interesting one, to say the least. Very cool to see what you're going for. As for the languages, I guess I will be a bit annoyed if I won't be able to pronounce them right xD I'll probably just glance over them quickly and retain them as written, but won't really pronounce them in my head. Or it will just be a very very wrong pronounciation.
  6. Oh my God, you don't know how right you are!! Just played and fnished Planescape: Torment the other day and it was really annoying to see TNO try and find his way around companions and NPCs xD So yeah, at least make the AI so good as to make companions get the hell out of the way :D
  7. A fellow BSN dweller, I see! :D (I have another name on those forums though). OT: Yeah, companions and wilderness areas. Both sound good, especially if you can have all your potential companions chill out at the stronghold.
  8. Yeah, thanks for summing it up again, I was getting a bit confused. I'll be keeping an eye on this new project, will probably even back it if I'm interested. I'd love it if it were to be a Sci-Fi game =D While I can understand people wanting a 3D-based game, the work that they put into the design of this games tools would be wasted. Whereas staying within this 'Infinity Engine' style means that they would be able to do more with the game while having all the tools prepared and ready. Though I wouldn't be averse to 3D at all, certainly would prefer some more of these beautifully hand-drawn backgrounds. I agree with Silverbarr, both options would be viable!
  9. I ultimately decided to vote that I'd love some more stretch goals. If they decide to go for it and there are enough people backing it, everyone profits. If not, then...bad luck. Or it'll come as DLC/expansion later on.
  10. I usually play as a mage first. That means, I'll either go with the wizard or will take the cipher, because that class is quite interesting. As for the class, that remains to be seen. A Godlike would be very interesting, I think.
  11. I think it makes the game more interesting. And the premise and essence of the game is quite different from run-of-the-mill fantasy games anyway, so why not?
  12. I agree with this. That was more of a "gag goal", as I see it, so let him do what he's supposed to do :D
  13. I wouldn't say "no" to more content, I guess, but I'm not sure how much/if I'd upgrade my pledge. And doesn't PE have enough content as is? Hello, by the way, I'm new here, just registered my pledge
