No killer instinct. You won't get the bagels that way.

I won't be upgrading my OS, and I'd counsel everyone to act accordingly; buy the new OS when you buy your next PC. (Apparently it is a nightmare to setup a local network.) You're buying the OS first? That's the craziest thing I've heard today. "Cross platform" means that PC games are not the only market; NwN was available for Linux users, for example. OpenGL is just a different (read: incompatible) way of handling graphics. DirectX is a proprietary Microsoft Windows mechanism. The advantage for OpenGL is that it doesn't lock the player into a single platform; if Microsoft decided to charge $50 for every game to licence DirectX you'd soon see the advantage of having a choice ...

ATi Mobility Radeon T2 128MB (AGP), though I can plug in a PCI GPU via a docking station (not mine: that's just a port replicator, so I don't have to keep unplugging all the cables when I go mobile). I must confess that I am not particularly au fait with the various digital video twiddlings that perhaps I should be (the teacher who took the Media Service, that I was head of, is probably having conniptions right now; actually that's a Good Thing

... Or did you apply the beta patch?

In every member's My Controls section: There is a link to Manage your friends list (launches new window). (The mail is just a notification and can be trashed safely.) One may also select to automatically accept Friend requests in the Edit Personal Portal Information subsection.

Thanks LC - okay that is likely the resize function of the software. the tweak you would like is if it can open in full size then? Mine starts like that but expands to a normal browser window ...

Maybe they'll revisit it later in the series in a flash-back (he says in a very unconvinced manner ...) ?

Funny thing is at the moment (due to my current ISP and their stoopid USB modem: I need an ethernet modem to plug into one of my wireless routers), I spend more time in the living room with the laptop on my lap. (I still use the docking station and monitor for gaming, though.)

If 100 people needs to die to save 100000 people..

it works in the US because we simply spend more. [2] also, the myth is that increased income tax actually increases tax revenues 1:1... not true. low income tax and (relatively) high sales tax would do well. plus, the US doesn't have nearly as much government benefits as denmark. taks I don't think you spend more than us? at least when we divide the number of citizens with the overall amount spend.. unless of course you simply mean that you (as country) spend more due to the fact that you are more than us?.. [2] and I know it doesn't work that way, but we as you mention that's because of goverment benefists that taxes are so high... free health and a bunchload of other services are quite expensive.. Taks is saying that the US generates more tax revenue and spends less of it, per capita, on her people. -
I reject materialistic philosophies because they cannot provide cvilizations with the strength needed to survive and expand. A great example is the west - birth rates are plummeting, fertility is declining, women are having children at continously later years. Chances are, within a few generations, what we know of as western civilization will cease to exist as immigrants from other civilizations overrun Europe and America. Religions like Hinduism unite people under common values, unite and build families, and through various customs/rituals/celebrations creates a cohesive and organic society. I find that a pretty unconvincing atheism; more non-theism, because you believe in the Hindu religion just without any specific deities. What specific Hindu values do you think are worthwhile, over and above Humanism? As for your statements about fertility and population, fertility is naturally less for older people (leaving aside poor diet, which is a huge reversible factor); secondly, one of the main reasons that women have fewer children, later, in developed countries is because they have better health and education. Therefore people do not need to have as many children to help counter the higher infant mortality, and the workforce has many more (empowered) women who have a vocation outside that of being a mother. (You might want to factor in the endemic child labour in India.) It does not edify you in any way to make such appallingly offensive statements about "overrunning" civilizations.

Do you like WW2 grand strategy naval wargames?

You could almost have piled all that up on the deck of the wooden ship and it would have caused a list large enough to capsize it ... :D -
Likely hard coded - though depending on your browser you can adjust how pop-ups open. It's nothing to do with browser settings, I have the same problem and my config is to open all new pages as tabs in the current window. I'm using Firefox 2.0 on XP Pro SP2. Yep, me too. Firefox 2.0, XP Pro SP2 The "Merge" task hasn't been coloured correctly: black text on white background in the textbox. I really like the Fast Edit function, btw. :D

Throwing out a question concerning AI
metadigital replied to Checkpoint's topic in Computer and Console
here might be an example of what I mean. take the game Stronghold. anyone who has ever played that game knows that wheat farms + mills + bakeries = the best food production in the game. sometimes, however, you may decide to use other types of farms because you just like the aesthetic (of dairy, for instance) over wheat farms. or maybe you choose cattle because of the dual purpose (armor making). if you were playing against an AI opponent (in which you both had the same tools), the AI opponet who either play stupid (intentionally) or go for every possible advantage (i.e. food would be wheat + mills + bakery). it would never play a robust game with all dairy farms because that would amount to it being gimped in some way. so, what I am saying is, we need AI personalities that consider things besides the mathematical advantage (he just likes building certain things because of the looks, whatever)...but still playing well and in direct response to what you are doing. and with different, randomly-determined personalities emerging each time. What do you mean?

That's part of the CSS to be tweaked.

Some of the CSS is still being tweaked, like this emoticon. It's always been a modified Invision, that was what delayed the upgrade (detangling and re-engineering the customizations for the new version).
