Turn off movies. That should allow you to start as normal.

KOTOR couples
Um... yeah. I'm 29 and still 43 would be pretty much my limit as far as age goes. And even then, he'd have to be really hot. Then again, I'm not Twi'lek, so who knows how they work. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ... or rich.

Really, you don't say! I hadn't noticed! That still doesn't explain why he wouldn't find Mira attractive. Hell, as far as I'm concerned, Mira is the hottest girl in that game, not counting female Exiles. (Visas... *shudder*) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep, Visas was the Glenn Close ("Fatal Attraction") of K2. Mira was a strong female lead, so weak males would be intimidated by her ("She's a bossy biatch" whiney ones would say). I liked her, but I though was the sexiest: strong willed, intelligent, witty and capable (excellent fighter).

According to the Star Wars Databank, Carth is 38 standard years old at the time of KOTOR 1... putting him around 43 at the time of KOTOR 2. Mission mentions her age in KOTOR 1... It was either 13 or 14; I can't remember which. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ... So about the age that early civilisations married off their women to the highest bidding male. Still, now she'd be 18-19 syo to his 43syo ... getting a little old for that sicko who voted for them.

Is there any way to spare Luxa? (spoiler)
Shouldn't this thread be in the "Spoilers" forum? P-M, there is an easter egg that allows you to go on a date with Luxa, just say "Y'know, I don't normally do this, but you remind me of someone ... " "

Well, I'd put Carth a little older than that: Dustil was circa 18 in K1, which was five years ago. Assuming that he wasn't the product of some arranged marriage tied to a "rite of passage" for our Telosian NPC, he would be more like 40+. Of course this all depends on the far, far away Galaxy planets all having similar gravity, atmosphere density, sidereal and orbiting periods to our little blue planet. Otherwise the age comparisons become extremely untenable. E.g. maybe Taris had an orbital period of 7 "Earth" years (or Telosian years, for that matter) ... then Mission Vao would be 126 Telosian years old, so she would be craddle-snatching our Admiral. (Not to mention stepping on a LS female Revan's toes, which I wouldn't think would be a sound strategy for longevity ... but I digress, more than usual.)

New World Ideas
I actually quite liked the Pergarus station: a bit of mine, a bit of industrial complex -- nice mix. Also the tomb, in the midst of Dxun, was a nice area. Stomping through an ice world would be good (more than just a platform with a door); perhaps Telos could be further terraformed to have lots of little pockets of vegetation / terrain / artificial habitation, industrial and merchandising structures. Adding different environments to give unique interaction experiences, like swimming through a dense, gaseous atmosphere (in three dimensions) or the underwater base on Manaan, for example, is always a winner. As long as there is a point and it's not just a new environment for the sake of novelty.

Dual wield or Double Bladed?
When you put the first weapon in either hand it will register as the main hand. (Right side.) then just put your off-hand waepon in the other hand.

KOTNR or KOTOR 3?
Not sure if I'd want to see Luke Skywalker, Han Solo or Princess Leia in the game. I wouldn't mind some of the "lesser" characters from the New Republic era, but not any of the movie characters. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep, I agree with that. Everyone would be checking out their stats, y'know "Ooo, Luke Skywalker only has 15 STR" etc, etc, et cetera. Talk about destroying the romance and mystery.

Dual wield or Double Bladed?
Y'mean you don't have lightsaber envy? I think the single lightsaber is still under-valued as a defence posture. Dual weilding, or a double blade, are increasing the complexity of the battle. You certainly have more resources to attack with, and defend with, but now the administration of these resources demands your focus be divided. I think that should have a bigger impact on defence than is currently represented in the game. (What's that? Do I hear females in the audience bursting to make some comment about multi-tasking?) The model seems to hold true for WeaponMasters, though, as the advanced duel-weilding feats approach but never quite get to main-and-off-hand-with-no-penalty. ... Except that the bonus due to PC level swamps the actual combat so as to make the entire argument moot once your avatar passes double figures in level.

Some things really shouldn't be aired in public ... like quite a few of the posts in this thread. I think it might be time to draw a judicious veil over the subject, to prevent some disturbing contributors impeaching themselves ... "

TSL Restoration Project: Work in Progress
Well why don't you make an educated guess, based on the listed work and resources available, and if you're wrong we'll all blame you? Wow, I thought *I* was getting some pretty weird compliments. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That was a plural third person pronoun, so in effect you were, too.

Deus ex Machina: the Will of The Force ...
Yes, but that doesn't really help us much. And I have read a lot of words to describe Taoism. ... Taoism sees existence as an interplay between three elements: the individual; society and its artificial values; the principles of Nature. In order to lead a content life, the individual must understand the principles of Nature, the values of the social structure in which he must forge a life, and his own internal wants and needs. According to Taoism, what is good and bad varies over time and between societal groups, therefore, unlike the principles that guide Nature, the values of a given society are arbitrary and artificial. Wu Wei Much of the essence of Tao lies in the art of wu wei (action through inaction: taking no-action is, in itself, an action). However, this does not mean "sit doing nothing and wait for everything to fall into your lap". It describes a practice of accomplishing things through proper action by knowing when and when not to act according to an individual's personal capabilities/limitations and desires. ... Religion the Five Elements theory, alchemy, ancestor worship, and magic spells. Taoist philosophies also directly influenced Chinese Chan Buddhism. Eventually elements of Taoism combined with elements of Buddhism and Confucianism in the form of Neo-Confucianism. Attempts to procure greater longevity formed a frequent theme in Taoist alchemy and magic, with many extant spells and potions for that purpose. So to say The Force is ineffible; "we can't describe it with words", or "we can't understand it" is a cop out. The English language is the great thief-whore-cornucopiae of the world of communicatoin: she borrows words and concepts from every culture, experience and interaction -- everything. If you can't describe it, then you aren't trying hard enough. Or it could just be MU. :D

After reading the EU canon, I would say he was probably looking forward to eating her. GL really needs to take a break from creature writing, methinks. "

Where the Endgame REALLY went wrong
Yep. Especially interesting for Consulars. Might be an opportunity for HK-47 to save life, the universe, and everything, though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> S'funny, HK-47 doesn't immediately strike me as the "Marvin" type. I wonder if he (HK-47) can read the last message from God, written in flaming mile-high letters, from Nihilus' bridge ... S ... O ... R ...

Deus ex Machina: the Will of The Force ...
1. 2. 3. There you go again, using our theologies in a SciFa setting... What theories am I meant to use? Imaginary ones? If it is sufficient to have referential integrity for the laws of physics in SW, then I don't think it is much of a stretch to have similar understandings of metaphysics (or even supraphysics). I think you are being evasive because I keep pointing out a grey area in your understanding of The Force. 4. MU 5. Automap: on. 6. So you firmly believe that if The Force was removed from the SW universe then all life would cease? I suppose that is a reasonable hypothesis, considering we have no idea what The Force really is. I still like my interpretation whereby The Force is a self-actualising conscious entity (meaning well, of course) that is controlling the universe. Then the Anti-Force League could come in and do battle with not just the Force Adepts, but The Force, as well. And in death, The Force would finally become cognizant of that which it did not have, that which it needed to ... become whatever it becomes next ... 7. I am an iconoclast, too.

Should The True Sith Be In Kotor III?
Are you by any chance making long chalk comparisons between the cradle of civilization on planet Earth being reduced to a desert (Saharan Africa from Algeria to Egypt, up through the Middle East to Jordan and down and across through all the fun Asian nations to Iraq, Iran and Afganistan) and a civilization a long, long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away?

TSL Restoration Project: Work in Progress
You should be a teacher, that is a very clear and concise explanation, completely free of condescension. The part I have highlighted leads me to comment that whomever tested the game left one of these linked modules out of sync: after the bunker and before the polar Telos confrontation the HK-50s are talking one screen faster than the dialogue is appearing. Which makes the dialogue surprisingly hard to comprehend.
