  1. Yes it certainly is a better mechanism than a single conversation with multiple choices; which is soooooo lacksedaisically lame. (Did anyone accidentally make an unitententional selection with Atton: you had to wade through about five minutes of dialogue either side of running to a computer terminal -- very annoying for those who wanted to reload.) Yep, and what would be an even better tactic is not having "LightSide Jedi Master / Sentinel" as one of the choices, but instead the characters would describe Revan and the Exile in their own words, and some might disagree (or have a hidden agenda -- just because Juhani was Light Side in K1 doesn't mean she will be in K3. for example) ... adds a bit more imprecision and reality to the process. I have little confidence this will materialise, however, considering the one-dimensional strategy used in K2; one conversation with four multiple-choice answers for PC's background and a large PC psychological diagnosis in the cave for the sake of a single battle! (Why this wasn't used to tailor the endgame leads me to assume the developers' left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing.)
  2. Kreia was the best, I feel. Her cold diction matched her (initially impenetrable) character and seemed to deepen and ring with insanity as the game matured. HK-47 was even better in K2 than K1. Carth was terrific voice acting. Yes he was a whiney annoying so-and-so, but that was the point. The actress doing Visas was over-acting almost as much as the one doing Queen Talia. And Bao-Dur sounded like he was reading English as a foreign language, phonetically spelt out on cue cards that he couldn't quite read (until the end when he seemed to find his voice).
  3. I thought you were asking us to guess the source of the quotation; I have never read that passage (at least I don't recall it) so I assumed FaramirK would take the biscuit (sorry, cookie: local idiom). Sounds like you are equating the DS to bad (as in a failing of, or incomplete, good) rather than the traditional "Evil" (dualistic connotations: I believe we covered it about ten pages or so back with Nietzsche's difference between "Bad" and "Evil"). What were you reading, the Young Anglican book of Daemons and Devils? :D Who are you calling little?
  4. Well do your readers a favour and correspond via the word processor so that we all might be able to understand your ramblings.
  5. ... you mean similar to the interface in K1? "
  6. I think I understand the title of this thread now. Yes, I can see why you would want to make it legal.
  7. Not entirely The British,Americans and Russians divided the world amongst themselves They're all to blame. Let's not forget we were getting our ass kicked when we turned on the Germans. And in the late 60's Ceausescu actually reformed the party politics. People opened stores...censorship almost dissapeared. Then he went insane and adopted some stupid asian comunist ideas Nobody conquered Russian...nobody <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So that mustn't have been a McDonalds in Red Square that I saw in the 1980s, then? :D
  8. Funny you should say that, I decided I should start learning Chinese about three years ago...we had them on a leesh at one point, but we really screwed that up bad... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, well, either learn it now of your own free will, or later as a necessity. If Darwin is right, we'll all be Chinese sooner or later. (Although the Indian subcontinent is making a good late rally.)
  9. Georgie thinks England is near New England. Incidentally, Georgia is a country in the former SU and a state of the United States of America, too. But no relation to Georgie.
  10. No need to invade: just rock on up and claim asylum. Even if you are denied, you can just not turn up for the disembarkation hearing and then later buy a fake id and get benefits. "
  11. Are you nuts? The USA spends more on its military than the rest of the entire world, put together!
  12. I would like to think that if a mighty nation invaded Russia, my fellows would be shaken out of the sex/crime/pleasure/drug/vodka crazed state most of them are currently in and be able to not only drive them out but march all the way to their capital and level it, but I don't hold out much hope. Our army is lazy and our weapons are obsolete. Our Nuclear Deterent is pretty much all we have left. God bless the Рокетчки. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just don't hide on a submarine ... Don't worry, the biggest threat is China, and they're not going to start a war with Russia: the USA will be beaten on their capitalistic terms (China has already bought most of the USA's foreign debt .... should the Chinese decide that Swiss Francs are a better investment than the US dollar then the US is in serious bantha poodoo.)
  13. I would guess yes, because Britain actually ruled the world at one point, as opposed to America, which just wants too... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The sun never set on the British Empire ... pink on all the maps (pink was used to indicate the Empire). So all those children had to learn where every little colonial pink bit was. Did you know the French had their own Greenwich mean until the late 19th century? If it wasn't for the British defeating the French in the American continent, nous parlerions le fran
  14. Actually I am not British, I just live here. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So is British Geography better than its US counterpart ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was thirty years ago, not so much now. My memories of school in the USA confirm the woeful state of education there: I went from third form in the UK to grade six for most subjects and seven for English (I was reading Colditz when I arrived) and Mathematics (gotta love algebra). And their arrogant idolisation (word?) of their hell-spawned language. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not idolisation, just utility: English is the Whore-mother of all languages, borrowing, stealing and anglicizing words from any and every language that has anything to say. No qualms, no reservations: from schadenfreude to dinghy, pythagoras to alcohol. (Hangover from Empire days, for sure. The French are very jealous.) " Also I am still a beginner on other languages, English is my personal favourite because I have spent so much time learning as many of her idiosyncracies as I can ...
  15. Actually I am not British, I just live here.
  16. Lies..all lies <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I dated a Romania once... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You dated a country? Wow, you must have been busy. And very, very tired afterwards. :D
  17. Lies..all lies <{POST_SNAPBACK}> From the sound of your geography I'd say you were schooled in the USA. "
  18. Well, the way I see it, so long as I can't tell he's a droid, he's not a droid. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Seems like love brakes all barriers <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, I've used similar lines before about bugs in my food. "If I don't see it, it's not there." Denial can be a wonderful thing. (No, I'm not comparing Atton to a bug in my food.) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So if a tree falls in the forest, Atton won't hear it? No, that's not right ... If an Atton falls in SW then a Bao-Dur won't get it ... No ... If an Atton falls on a Silvershadow, Bao-Dur will take voice-coaching .... No ...
  19. Be very glad that you are very wrong. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Maybe he lives in Burma -- sorry Myanmar -- North Korea or China? "
  20. ...and with that, Metadigital once and for all destroyed any hope of philosophical debate in non-english cultures. Just Kidding. I realise I horrible distorted the context of your comment. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I nearly put: If you don't have one you can convey using English, then you can't really partake in a discussion on an English forum, can you? But I thought expediently that my meaning was clear and the readers of this thread weren't petty nor cynical enough to misquote me. " j/k Actually you were a lot nicer about critiquing his post than I was (must be that Christian goodwill ).
  21. I liked the Infocom adventures; Zork 2 I thought better than 1 and 3. Planetfall ( (w00t) ) was the best, though. (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was a bit contrived.)
  22. You have to modify your Xbox hardware. Add a chip to it. "Chip" it. (I convey no warranty that this is a legal thing to do in any countries, but I have reason to believe it is quite a common practice. Just ask the guy you bought the XBox from. Or any school friends.)
  23. Try me. And if you are having difficulty explaining yourself, then this is your communication malfunction, not mine. I am with you so far: thinking on many levels of connection between actions/events and fate. You still haven't answered any of my questions of what you are calling "fate" or "pre-destination". If you have read any amount of philosophy you will already know that -- unless you are a truly remarkable person -- someone, somewhere has already thought and written about your idea in some form. All this discussion is amounting to is trying to describe "The Force" in terms of the existing philosophical thought. If you have something genuinely unique to add, I'm all ears (well, eyes). You are, despite your protestations, just saying "I know you are wrong because I am right" -- or at least "more right than you because no-one can really know." This is just a cop-out. If you have a theory, spit it out. If you don't have one you can convey using English, then you can't really join a discussion about it, can you? So either get it together or stop spamming.
  24. It is undamaged if you are Dark Side.
  25. Select Atton's avatar to begin the scene.
