KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
metadigital replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Exactly. Telos was better than Dantooine. And Korriban. So was Peragus. The only other planet that even slightly impressed was Onderon / Dxun, and that was because there was a more-than-one-dimenstional-plot together with multiple areas to explore (much the way that Kashyyyk had multiple areas). Really, what is the point in having a dozen planets with an acre or two of land? Just as Telos demonstrated, you can have extreme climate / different landscapes on the same planet (obviously), so I just think it is yet another example of style over substance. I wouldn't be surprised if OE originally were going to make the game as rich and textured everywhere, as they did in Onderon / Dxun. Trouble is, if your aunt had wheels, she'd be a wagon. IF doesn't cut it, and so the result is a mastabatorial exercise. -

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions

Yeah, I would have expected, since the artwork models, maps, etc were already there, that OE could have added loads of depth in TSL. I mean, in two games, on an entire planet, the PC explores about a hectare (conveniently cut off from the rest of planet's surface, not by water, but by boulders). Poor. -

It's a shotgun wedding, where she is holding the double-brrelled gun, and those are all their kids. ("Enough is enough, you two are getting married!")

I had a mage I called Coruscate. (He liked fireballs.)

sorting things, Kreia/Kae
metadigital replied to Knights&Darths's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If you read the files there are stage directions and comments; in these are many direct instructions to parallel ALL of the themes from the films, including the parent one, iirc. It seems pretty obvious to me that there exists the planning for Kreia to be Kae and this to be a final revelation in someone's dialogue influence level; but, for whatever reason, it was cut (fairly early in the development process), so that -
Does Revan's fate make any sense?
metadigital replied to Nur Ab Sal's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Surely there is scope for some "unknown" stuff in the galaxy 4000 years beforehand to be some of the known stuff hence? In other words, couldn't the unknown menace be just >insert something not mentioned in the two KotOR games here that already exists in SW<? Don't forget, though, that it seems pretty obvious that the writers had to place the sequel near to the first in game time, yet not include any specifics about the story from it. Banishing Revan, alone, to "beyond the Outer Rim" simply takes care of Revan popping up as an NPC, as well as the motive for going and explaining awkward questions like why isn't Revan running the galaxy. The "True Sith" are alos nebulous enough to be fleshed in at a later date; they might easily just say that the "True Sith" are a "New Sith", or an "Old Sith", much older than the "True Sith", etc. So Revan and the True Sith are just relagated to markers, for future games / EU to take advantage of, and not interfere with the K2 story. Which is a cop-out, really. -
Don't tell me, there's a castle on M5, called Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrggggghhhh ... ^_^

You can't play as a Twi'Lek without a mod, so the source of your problem probably stems from there.

Are there Mandalorian Women?
metadigital replied to E_Motion's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Nah. She's Mandalorian. That's the point of the archetype LA was producing, with the rocket launchers. -
I'm sure they eat some fish. Just not the ones that ask you how do you do, first. ^_^

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions

I agree with this, btw. Also, I don't want to see Tatooine again because of the same reasons I felt Dantooine and especially Korriban were weak in TSL. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, in the words of Yoda: Do, or do not. There is no try. Too many poor attempts to milk previous IP without adding anything innovative. It just ends up as another version, although because there is an original (which was new, and still contains the focus of nostalgia), the copy is necessarily pale immitation. All it can do is cheapen the original experience. Now, if the developers take an idea and bend it, stretch it into a new set of circumstances, or with different enemies and even factoring in the old solutions to weaken or invalidate them, so that the situation has grown, then the result is a deeper experience: it draws from the original all the history and adds the impact of a new twist. But that isn't easy. It takes hard work. And writing skill. -

It would be interesting (from a RL logistic pov)! It would require GL sharing IP and royalties (never going to happen) with Paramount (ST) and whomever produces Farscape and Andromeda. Still, I never thought I would see Superman and the gang from DC in the same comic as Iron Man and the gang from Marvel ... -
I have always been very precocious. :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Meta, you never appeared all that old to me. So any kids yet? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know whether that's a compliment (backhanded, or not) or not! Yes.

I think the main advantage for using sexually suggestive imagery in advertising, which is undeniable, is that it will get the viewers' attention. That is a big plus, when one is selling. Even if the audeince immedaitely turns off, the fact that they have your attention is the beginning of building a memory. Next time you are shopping, you will automatically reach for objects that are familiar. Most advertising (for prodcuts in a mature marketplace) are simply to get their product in the top 3 brands that people think of, when asked about the product. (Obviously to improve the ranking, but generally speaking, people don't remember more than about three brands. Try it: list as many detergents, or tv companies, or brands of shoes. And you are trying, think of when you just go shopping; you aren't consciously trying to remember brands, you are just trying to get the shop done.) Sure, Barbed Wire was a travesty, but you still remember the name of it, as opposed to some other film with no redeeming features and no lewd posturing. Also remember that, for some reason, advertising seems to be populated by infantile men with the mental ages just post-puberty, where fart jokes are funny. (Check out any child psychology development guide to see how young the human brain is when it develops the various senses of humour, it is very telling.)
