  3. FFVII Sucked! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Maybe it does compared to previous FF titles however it is still much better then the FFs that followed and it basically made what the PS1 is today. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Aha! That was the one I played, 'cause I bought it for my PSone. Stupid game.

  8. I thought you (@Eldar) were reviewing some game you thought might be >interesting< to play. It sounds like Sims-lite. It sounds ... err ... very Japanese.
  9. Yep, and it lumps "critical and commercial" together a little to glibly, too. The whole point of the article is to praise innovation and the eschewal of slavish cookie-cutting game development. Not to suggest that the games were, necessarily, commercially successful. You need a large dose of Volo +3 illusionist powder to make that leap, from that article ...

  14. I thought it was a good presentation. Remember, this is the first look. There have already been beautiful screenshots (notably of a big red dragon in the US Xmas PC Gamer) so I was looking primarily at the animation, which appeared flawless, at least to my eyes (+2 for long sight, -1 for short sight after long periods of time). Tormentness without the messy reading lolz. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There has to be a theme to any narrative, and spooky is probably the easiest to pull off successfully (cf comedy). Think Thief in NwN ... Overall I think it looks pretty promising, and I'm waiting to see the next teaser, which will hopefully have some combat scenes (which also, hopefully, won't be lame).

  20. Possible Breakthrough for AIDS Cure Posted by ScuttleMonkey on Wednesday February 08, @01:24AM from the a-decade-is-the-fast-track dept. kryonD writes "Researchers believe they have found a new compound that could finally kill the HIV/AIDS virus, not just slow it down as current treatments do. While most of the community is still hesitant to comment on this until it passes peer review, initial results show that their method attacks and kills ALL variations of the virus. A fast track through the FDA could have one of the world's leading problems licked in less than a decade." Slashdot headline
