  1. Cinema is a cool place to work at your age: free films, lots of peers and girls and films, and you have to ability to hand out free passes to prospective girls, AND you have somewhere to take them on a date (AND even get paid). Sorry to hear the tribulations of the workplace, but it is a fact of life: not every situation is salvageable, and Kenny Rogers was right. Peter Venkman responding to Audrey, upon her asking for some time off, Ghostbusters.
  2. There were scores of people logged in when you appeared and disappeared, maybe related to bandwidth ..?
  3. So ...? Is it any good?
  4. Plus death waits around ever corner there Spiders, snakes, crocs, sharks,........... mel gipson <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 1. He was talking about the US govt. 2. Mel Gibson is a Yankee ... ask him. (And a mad Catholic, too.)
  5. ORLY?!!? but is that how it is generally handled in practice (well, pre you having an itchy trigger finger)? Nope. Because we have literally had threads on chimps taking over the world, which we're ok, but to say that one goofy topic changing into another goofy topic makes a thread lockable is kinda silly. It's bureaucracy for the sake of bureaucracy. The point of the topic was for laughs. As far as serious topics, and the frapper, I get keeping it on point. But isn't that what pruning and warnings are for? Locking a serious topic seems self defeating. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> YA RLY Yeahkindasortaoughta, but this is a high-profile topic. Megalomaniacal chimps are fine in their own thread.
  6. I would tend to say that (most) personality is innate, and is merely shaped by the environment (whether supportive or abusive). Also, don't kid yourself: most people think they are "new, improved" versions of their parents, yet grow up to be almost identical (not immediately: but remember that your parents are a few decades older than you are). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Innate? Apriori? Canyou explain your case, because I can't see it being innate, i personally believe that people aren't born with knowledge like morals ect... My defense is if you look around there seems to be contradiction everywhere with morality. IE is lieing really bad, is killing really wrong, equality is fair. I believe in analytical knowledge but this wouldn't really count would it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Um, no a posteriori! (empirical observation rather than theoretical deduction) Babies have personalities. Cats have personalities. Spiders have personalities (Sir David Attenborough was reciting an experience when a film crew were trying to capture a couple of arachnids on celuloid, and one was shy, one was light-sensitive and one was happy to perform)! Morals come from empathy. Empathy is a conseqence of self-awareness, which infants do not have (they do not distinguish between "self" and "the world"). Morals ≠ personality Although different personalities would not necessarily have the same ethical values, that is more to do with Moral absolutism than personality.
  7. But the discussion was about the capabilities of the NwN Aurora engine.
  8. Well, I would argue that the key NwN product differentiation is its Toolset. I can't argue the figures with you (I have no idea), but, either: NwN sold a lot more to the non-mod community than it was marketed to, or the toolset had no economical rationale If the former, that's good for Bioware / Atari. If the latter, then I don't know why so many resources have been invested in the toolsets ... Maybe. But when don't surveys provide negative feedback? Once the game is out, if it's decent, people will play. Build it, and they will come! For all the belly-aching about Oblivion, for example, when the dust settles it will be regarded as a very good game despite numerous flaws that we all can name. Unless NwN 2 has multiple critical failures (plot, characters, pacing, graphics, combat, etc etc) it will swim. ... Then we can look forward to the new Super-Sci-Fi-Post-Apocalyptic-Survival-RPG IP that Obsidian will make next (w00t) ...

  10. I think it is beyond obvious that the beginning is where you start. Extra sails and rigging are great, but they are for when the ship floats, not before. Don't forget that NwN 2 is equal parts a empowerment for modders, too. Plenty of time for prestige classes and so forth when the expansions come out ... after all there has to be a selling point for them, too ... :D
  11. Recently there's been some pushing and shoving about the priority of features and balance. My stance is always the same: core before more. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Perfectly sane. That's because your little brain couldn't relate to the totally sweet and awesomeness of a psionic character! Psionics FTW! ... Because I'm not-so-secretly psionic. (w00t) :'(

  13. Myranni's Magic (Mat Jobe) Submitted / Updated 01-25-2006 / 04-12-2006 Requires Both Expansions (SoU & HotU) Myranni kept insisting that it had to be you. Only you were fit to look after his shop while he was gone. If you refused to do it, he would simply have to cancel his trip. So you agreed. And now, with only Myranni's good-for-nothing familiar Blaggo to advise you, you must watch over the shop's many strange artifacts and deal with its not-so-many customers. If all goes well, it will be a quiet, uneventful day. However, as you open Myranni's Magic Shop for business and catch sight of your first customer, you already doubt that will be the case. *** Myranni's Magic is an entry in the Bioware Writing Contest. As such, it is short (10-15 minutes) and contains no combat. = The Realm Below (Chris Amos) Submitted / Updated 01-29-2006 / 04-12-2006 HOTU-1.59 The playing character comes to and finds him or herself underwater and unable to breath...the only hope is the Nixie standing nearby. = Aspects (Neilan "Darric" Naicker) Submitted / Updated 01-29-2006 / 04-12-2006 Works on all versions On the brink of insanity, you wake within your own mind, with no knowledge of what events led to this point. The three aspects of your mind are your only hope of leaving its confines, but at what cost? = A Moonless Night - 1.00 (Kevin Chan) Submitted / Updated 01-30-2006 / 04-12-2006 Requires Both Expansions (SoU & HotU) This is a short module slapped together for the Bioware writing contest. The PC is lost in a forest and must find his or her way out by talking to a paladin, an old hag, and a spirit. No combat, tricks, or puzzles as per contest rules. *** For support, please email me at toa_lost@yahoo.com as I don't visit the Vault much anymore. = Ghosts of the Past (Illemira) Submitted / Updated 01-30-2006 / 04-12-2006 Requires Both Expansions (SoU & HotU) You are an adventurer in the employ of Duchess Thestris of Rathenbrough. For the last two years, you and your three companions have travelled throughout the Kingdom of Darchae on missions for her, rooting out evil. You aren't sure what you did before you came into the duchess' service--you are missing three years' worth of memory preceding your travels. Your and your party have been on your feet for days, after completing your latest mission: killing a would-be lich--the Baron of Quiessa--who had been ritualistically sacrificing his subjects. His successor, grateful for your efforts but wary of your party, ordered you out of Quiessa. You have finally passed the border of the Barony and are seeking a place to rest in the thick woods. But there is a strange tension in the forest, and your dreams have been darker of late. You feel as though you are on the verge of remembering something. ======= Firestarter (Adam Miller) Submitted / Updated 01-27-2006 / 04-12-2006 Works on all versions This is one of the quests from the upcoming Dark Waters campaign. The player has traveled to a small island in search of a key, knowing little beyond the name of the man who once held it. = Walking with the Ghost (Chris Tihor) Submitted / Updated 02-07-2006 / 04-12-2006 Requires Both Expansions (SoU & HotU) This module was the one that I prepared for the writing contest. Unfortunately, due to crossed wires, I did not submit it on time. However, I have posted it here in its contest deadline version for all to enjoy. I may post a more polished version at a later date. = A Hero's Death (Thad Boyd) Submitted / Updated 01-29-2006 / 04-12-2006 Requires Both Expansions (SoU & HotU) Fleeing the slaughter at the fields of Braeden, abandoning your mercenary troupe and comrades-in-arms from Avalbane to their fate, you make your way to a portal in the Forest of Dream. But there are two other survivors of the battle, and before you leave you'll have to confront them. = The Badger, the Cat and the Book (Chris R. Deatherage) Submitted / Updated 01-27-2006 / 04-12-2006 Requires Both Expansions (SoU & HotU) Many wondrous tales surround the archmage Sinder Luzon and the strange experiments that are worked at her tower. In recent times no one has heard from or seen Sinder and word has spread that she has gone missing. If these tales be true then there may yet be great treasure left behind in the tower, for any adventurer brave enough to travel there. You are one such adventurer. You find yourself now at the entrance to the tower. (This module contains three (3) various endings which will be displayed in the dialogue.) = Find the Fish! (nereng) Submitted / Updated 01-24-2006 / 04-12-2006 HOTU-1.66 Oh no! A fish has mysteriously vanished in the mess area! Can you sort out the mess? Don't miss this if you like Pythons! The download contains an optional character to play with. Put the inspectorcheese file in your localvault folder if you want to try that.
  14. Caffeine doesn't just keep one awake: it also heightens the perceptions and gives better reflexes. That's like me asking "Have you stopped beating your wife?" ...
  15. I did that with Half-Life 2 ... played it from the moment it finished authorizing the installation (which ended up being before noon) and didn't stop apart from once for "bio break" about 10pm and then for a few hours at about 3pm until early morning ... not sure if I bothered to have breakfast ... finished the game very early in the afternoon. Since then I have replayed the game and I don't know how I managed to finish it so quickly ... I actually had to stop in the early morning because my eyes were so dry they were in pain ... blinking becomes optional when the eyes have so much candy to consume!

  18. Way Off-Topic refers to the topics started, not the adherence to the topic once it has begun.
