  1. Yes: Last Active 7th September 2006 - 09:42 PM.
  2. There is no way China can realistically control the access to information for EVERYONE. Kaftan, most of the population of Iran is under 25 and quite moderate.
  3. When I was in Indonesia, and the local currency (Rupiah) is about 1000:$1, yet after a few days I was just as insistent in haggling over taxi fares ... which equated to fractions of a cent ... just to not being ripped off! :D
  4. Yeah, it got me thinking about ways to send targeted electric current without invasive wiring. It would mean sending flesh-friendly energy to a specific, targeted point, and then causing this energy to become electrical and disperse into the area (at 4 volts). But miniturization is ongoing. This is just a proof of concept. Nanotech could easily create a structure in the brain with minimum invasion.
  5. I met an ex-pat Genoan, and when I chatted about the Venetians he was most indignant that his precious city and her fine history was ignobly dismissed by history, in favour of her neighbour ... "we lost one little war!" he lamented. :D
  6. I don't think it's that stark, between dialogue options and the wheel. Also, I do think that (faults and all) the Oblivion conversation wheel was a brilliant meta-game innovation (despite whether it was actually fun or not). :D That, I believe, is the strength of writing as a medium for conveying ideas. I frequently notice that there are layers of subtexts that are quite beyond the conscious awareness of the author. After all, life is rarely black-and-white, and ideas are as complex as the environment they are reviewed in.
  7. Fallout: Tactics comes on the Fallout White Label DVD. :D
  8. He was great in LA Law, too. :D
  9. Yeah, there aren't a lot around. Yet. I remember seeing our old tv that had been sold with an old house, still in situ, and still working about 20 years later. The only thing that had sufferred was the speaker: it was barely audible at maximum volume. The Rank tube was still going great guns, after 20 years.
  10. One in seix people will experience depression in their lives ... so if you stand in a queue, between the person in front of you, yourself and the person behind you, and their significant others, one of you WILL be directly affected by it. Funny, some people do need two more holes in their head! :D
  11. True genius: I was laughing out loud before the canned laughter chimed in. Excerrent.
  12. Wiki links: Bereavement Stages Death of a parent Grief's journey Beware the Five Stages of Grief
  13. The article deals with fluoxetine supplied under prescription through medical channels, not the "vegetarian", "herbal" and/or "natural remedy" ineffective spam-fodder rubbish that deluges our inboxes.
  14. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Whatsamatter, pouting because you didn't get to say it first? The logic is sound, too: no people = no evil people. Just kinda throws the baby out with the bathwater.
  15. I liked the never-explained-but-patently-obvious hommage to Doctor Who, too: did you notice that the emergency medical holograph never had a name, he was just "The Doctor"? :D
  16. ONLY AVAILABLE FROM (w00t)
  17. The loss never goes away: one just manages to deal with it better, over time.
  18. Apparently Fiennes said that the writer (either Thomas Keneally (book) or Steven Zaillian (screenplay)), was in danger of making Goeth's character the protagonist, as his tribulations were so interesting.
  19. Yeah, mobos are non-trivial.
  20. Psst. I didn't even read it.
  21. Welcome back.
  22. Good thoughts to you and your family.
