  2. He was great in LA Law, too. :D
  3. Yeah, there aren't a lot around. Yet. I remember seeing our old tv that had been sold with an old house, still in situ, and still working about 20 years later. The only thing that had sufferred was the speaker: it was barely audible at maximum volume. The Rank tube was still going great guns, after 20 years.
  4. One in seix people will experience depression in their lives ... so if you stand in a queue, between the person in front of you, yourself and the person behind you, and their significant others, one of you WILL be directly affected by it. Funny, some people do need two more holes in their head! :D
  5. True genius: I was laughing out loud before the canned laughter chimed in. Excerrent.

  7. The article deals with fluoxetine supplied under prescription through medical channels, not the "vegetarian", "herbal" and/or "natural remedy" ineffective spam-fodder rubbish that deluges our inboxes.
  8. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Whatsamatter, pouting because you didn't get to say it first? The logic is sound, too: no people = no evil people. Just kinda throws the baby out with the bathwater.
  9. I liked the never-explained-but-patently-obvious hommage to Doctor Who, too: did you notice that the emergency medical holograph never had a name, he was just "The Doctor"? :D
  10. ONLY AVAILABLE FROM (w00t)
  11. The loss never goes away: one just manages to deal with it better, over time.
  12. Apparently Fiennes said that the writer (either Thomas Keneally (book) or Steven Zaillian (screenplay)), was in danger of making Goeth's character the protagonist, as his tribulations were so interesting.
  13. Yeah, mobos are non-trivial.
  14. Psst. I didn't even read it.
  15. Welcome back.
  16. Good thoughts to you and your family.
  17. Oh? Which episode was that. I usually end up watching DS9 and TNG every day. Spike TV <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Long time ago, my recall wouldn't be able to even name the year. He was incarcerated, and the gaoler offers him an end to his sweat-box solitary confinement incarceration, if he promises to have his crew do (whatever it was they had to do) and he just walked back to the sweatbox, voluntarily and in great pain from being cramped in it for weeks, and got back in.
  18. Turning Off Depression Helen Mayberg may have found the switch that lifts depression

  20. Maybe the royalties were too much? " Excellent item. Sagan is much under-rated and sorely missed. RIP. Seventy-eight billion light years is big.
  21. Can: open. Worms: everywhere. :D (Go, go Kaftan!) Spock had a disastrous term as Captain of the Enterprise: he presided over a mutiny! 1. Sisko (he did an amazing rendition of Sir Alec Guiness's character in The Bridge Over the River Kwai in one episode, though the whole series was meh) 2= Janaway (female commanders, come on!; of course the first few years are completely forgettable. Now if only Torres was a captain ... ) 2= Picard (Shakespearean skills to the fore) 3. Kirk, of course (cue Kirk versus Spock fight music ... ) 4. Sulu
  22. Hey, I get my facts from an inviolate and unimpeachable source: The Shawshank Redemption!
  23. Was the audience being malicious ( ) ), or was this just the epitaph for science in the modern age?
