The UK government pretends to listen to special interest groups (including delays caused by court cases and white papers), then passes legislation to have the airport extension / nuclear plant / landfill sight placed where it wants anyway.

The year's half over...
It's only June. Water-cooled cards are false economy. (They don't cool the Video RAM, for a start.) If you want to get a water cooled PC, get one ... either yourself or a custom build will ensure that all the performance bits get cooled, either by air or water (e.g. spot fans and Corsair's heat-spreader technology for their RAM). Specifics: the DirectX10 performance seems to be dependent on the hardware architecture of the cards, so (surprise!) nVidia and ATi have different results for their cards again. ATi is not good with Need for Speed, for example. Motherboards: you can either opt for a good, fast relatively cheap motherboard, or one that is more expensive and doesn't have any performance benefit EXCEPT that it implements technology that hasn't been adopted yet (but will be in the next few months). In other words, depending on the upgrade strategy, you either buy a cheap mobo and CPU, or an expensive mobo and CPU that you can upgrade later (without upgrading the mobo). The next round of CPU technology isn't due for a couple of months, and the latest Core 2 Duo is dirt cheap and easy to overclock A LOT. specifics shortly

Well, that certainly worked for X-Com: Enforcer. I also hear Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel sold an amazing 17k units. Go go brand recognition! If the game is pants, then it will be subject to an immediate tsunami of bad will, as every person who buys it tells ten others not to, and why.- Thought for the day

Actions, however, need to demonstrate civilized behaviour ... Inside Man: Denzel Washington and Jodie Foster are superlatively good, with excellent supporting cast in a Spike Lee film. I don't know how I missed this! Flightplan: as bad as it looked in the trailers, with added balloon-help dialogue to pad out the nonsensical plot. Ocean's Eleven (the remake): never bothered to watch this before, and the original was only remarkable for the extraordinary fact of the cast all being in the same film. No wonder it's tought to sell. There are very limited number of people who even remember Wasteland, let alone played it back when it was released. And based on reactions of Fallout3, how many of original Wasteland fans would even be remotely happy with end result ? Probably not many, even if sequel would be good. I'm not sure if reanimating these old brands is good idea anyway. It's very rare that some core mechanics or world aspects would be worth to salvage vs. creating something complitely new. Personally I got lucky with Fallout3 because world aspects are the most important thing for me and I don't care much or combat system, rules or perspective as long as they work fine. But at the same time it's easy to see why many fans of the original games are very angry about new direction of Fallout3. The biggest reason to use an existing franchise is the boost in marketing, for nothing. The largest cost is the potential loss due to diehard fans not liking it ... which is negligible.- 'Manhunt 2' banned for 'casual sadism'
