Very very impressive. http://kotaku.com/357366/alone-in-the-dark-5-tech-demo I certainly love the inventory system. If the abilities shown in the game about merging stuffs like McGuyver plays a huge interesting role in the game instead of a one trick pony, a plausible enemy AI, good Cthulhu inspired story,it could well be better than Resident Evil 4. It certainly managed to capture the atmosphere in terms of graphics and music at least. Will this game finally be a true sequel of the original Alone in the Dark, that scared many players sleepless back then? If pulled off correctly, this game may very well save Atari.

Brothers in Arms AI isn't perfect but definitely not THAT bad. It should work if we consider that they keep refining the existing AIs.

Shogo. Awesome anime inspired mecha game ever. Too bad Monolith's storytelling ability ever since No One Lives Forever 2, becomes ****.

The anime is based on a series of novel, still incomplete thus the series is momentarily suspended) The reason is very simple actually. The animators and the novelist of 12 kingdoms made extensive research on China's Han periods culture, Chinese mythologies, philosophies and right down to the accuracy of the clothings! Unlike Jade Empire which is more or less just another Western fantasy reskinned into a stereotyped Chinese asian look. That's a big kudos from a Chinese here, who often frown at the misinterpretation of Chinese culture in the anime. I agree that it will be great if an RPG is made something along the lines of 12 Kingdoms setting. On a side note, those who are perceptive enough, they will notice that some notable music of 12 Kingdoms is based on Heroes of Might and Magic 4.

The second Neverwinter Nights 2 expansion pack coming?
Zoma replied to funcroc's topic in Computer and Console
Crysis at max settings? My 8800GTS is suffering from heart attack running that game. Regardless, if it is even possible at all, it will be great if Obsidian is able to find a way to multi-core in any areas of game. On the multiplayer side for instance, the server dedicates one core for calculating individual PC's walking path, the other for calculating any dice rolls needed ect. The end result would be favourable for servers packed with players in one map I think. -
The second Neverwinter Nights 2 expansion pack coming?
Zoma replied to funcroc's topic in Computer and Console
The expansion pack is pretty much a real deal if Anthony isn't teasing us. http://www.rpgcodex.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=22703 You know, hearing that MCA had been transferred from the Aliens team, I wonder if there is a possibility of him being the lead creative this time around? Though I'm also interested if Georgie is still involved in NWN2 expansions or already moved on to other projects. -
Can we have Obs to make KOTNR instead? Puleeez? Feargie c'mon man! Use your uber diplomacy roll again!

Armed Assault. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armed_Assault The game's hardcore realistic, basically a combat simulation game. In short, it can be either a frustrating or awesome experience fo you.

I'll change my mind into a much more favourable tone if the game has an awesome coop.

There's something strange, in the neighbourhood. Who'd you call? GHOSTBUSTERS!

Surfer Girl rumor on the games to be published by Sega
Zoma replied to funcroc's topic in Computer and Console
Dark Brotherhood = CIA game? Seems to be an awkward title for a CIA game if that is so. -
Or maybe certain dormant genes of the human species suddenly awaken and everyone turns into psykers overnight! Evolution baby.

Macross 7 wasn't a prequel. But thanks for the information! The last Macross was Macross Zero to celebrate the 20th anniversary. The storyline is a prequel to Macross with a younger Roy Focker. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVUciqWtR6c There's the series in youtube. It has awesome CG combat! The story gets weird though.

Yep Azure. Translated into English does sound odd at places. Though check out the Smiling Proud Wanderer(State of Divinity) English translation made by the fans and compare it yourself. http://wuxiapedia.com/novels/jin_yong/smiling_proud_wanderer

If they want to make a good Asian setting and yet easily embraced in the West to the point it can be declared as a classic, Bioware ought to look at Avatar: The Last Airbender's footsteps. Its obviously a westernised Asian setting yet it is successful. Perhaps it did not attempt to pretend its ancient China like Bioware did, instead taking an inspired Asian setting and influences from it makes it so successful. Avatar: The Last Airbender http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avatar:_The_Last_Airbender Just like Steve said, Bioware needs much more capable writers to redeem themselves for JE2.

Watch "Once Upon a Time In China" series by Jet Li also. wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Once_upon_a_time_in_china youtube: http://youtube.com/watch?v=yso4igoMIuU http://youtube.com/watch?v=NLihWL4Rxic&feature=related Its the movie that revitalises martial arts genre in the Asian market when it came out and soon after, many movies followed on. Its sad to know that in the end, the West sees Martial Arts just like another plain "Feat" or "Fireball" magic. Alot can be done to make a single martial art very interesting simply by adding a detailed history behind it, the application and uniqueness. Look up at my Dugu Qiubai link in my previous post, I doubt that you have difficulty in understanding his martial arts right?

The Chinese will laugh at this statement. I'm already laughing at it as a Chinese. To us, its just another game like a Disney Mulan. A Western fantasy game simply reskinned with Chinese appearance. In order to truly understand or be inspired by Chinese folklore, culture and martial arts, read up on Louis Cha's novels. He is considered as a writing legend in martial arts and one responsible in popularising the WuXia genre. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jin_Yong Some instances of his famous novels which might be familiar to some Asians here: -Legend of the Condor Heroes -Return of the Condor Heroes -Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre -The Smiling and Proud Wanderer -Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils -The Deer and the Cauldron Translation of the Smiling and Proud Wanderer can be found here: Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Smiling%2C_Proud_Wanderer Translation http://wuxiapedia.com/novels/jin_yong/smiling_proud_wanderer By reading the story, you can realise how creative the writer is in making unusual kung fu names and usage as well as the philosophy behind it. It also serves as a guideline of Chinese themes, morals and culture. ======================================================================== An example of a unique and mysterious powerful character he had created which has his own place of legacy in some of his prominent novels: Dugu Qiubai (Literally translated as "The Lonely One Who Seeks Defeat") http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dugu_Qiu_Bai After reading this, you realised how unique the martial arts philosophy he managed to apply to his character and make it so interesting. Can Bioware even manage to achieve that without making the martial arts seemingly so generic?

Haha, Happy New Year!

It sucks to know that the franchise is being shoddily translated into Asian language. As much as you hate to hear what I am going to say, I will suggest that you buy an English version of Neverwinter Nights 2 instead.
