Honestly, CNN is only slightly less bad than Fox, except with the opposite bias (pro Dem vs. pro GOP). Got any actual links (besides the Fox copy paste site)? Edit: at least you know with Fox, if they get anything more than the town name right, it's accidental and not on purpose. Their sports results are a bit harder to falsify, so those may be close to the truth...

No. It's not why. The 'why' is because NATO breaks its own rules and it's own charter by attacking countries outside NATO, that are not a threat to NATO. I.e. it's no longer a defensive measure (as per the NATO charter (from 1949, hence the reference to occupation forces): Article 5 The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence recognised by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area. Any such armed attack and all measures taken as a result thereof shall immediately be reported to the Security Council. Such measures shall be terminated when the Security Council has taken the measures necessary to restore and maintain international peace and security . Article 6 1 For the purpose of Article 5, an armed attack on one or more of the Parties is deemed to include an armed attack: on the territory of any of the Parties in Europe or North America, on the Algerian Departments of France 2, on the territory of Turkey or on the Islands under the jurisdiction of any of the Parties in the North Atlantic area north of the Tropic of Cancer; on the forces, vessels, or aircraft of any of the Parties, when in or over these territories or any other area in Europe in which occupation forces of any of the Parties were stationed on the date when the Treaty entered into force or the Mediterranean Sea or the North Atlantic area north of the Tropic of Cancer. Later amended: The definition of the territories to which Article 5 applies was revised by Article 2 of the Protocol to the North Atlantic Treaty on the accession of Greece and Turkey signed on 22 October 1951. On January 16, 1963, the North Atlantic Council noted that insofar as the former Algerian Departments of France were concerned, the relevant clauses of this Treaty had become inapplicable as from July 3, 1962. The Treaty came into force on 24 August 1949, after the deposition of the ratifications of all signatory states. Tl;dr; The NATO charter never provided any options for offensive warfare against other countries "because we don't like them" As for the "whataboutism", not sure what Russia is doing is any justification for NATO doing as it pleases, way beyond what's in its charter? It still means NATO is "can't be trusted" to be a strictly defensive organisation with no other motives. All this could be solved by being honest. I suppose It may be a hard sell in some countries, if they just told them we're a tool for a small group of countries to exert global military hegemony in order to further geopolitical interests, which is what it has de-facto become in 2022.

Exactly. What is needed is something that improves the quality of life of people without moving truckloads of money from the middle class (through taxes) to feed the balance sheet bottom lines of the already wealthy. As for Russia operating outside it's borders, last time I checked Google maps, Chechnya was still within the lines around the Russian Federation. Not trying to justify, but to understand why the west isn't to be trusted (i.e. them telling you, you can't do what they themselves have been doing for a long time, so why shouldn't we do the same)

“What’s more, the team managed to keep these atoms dancing in perfect unison for 37 seconds, setting a new record for the duration of “quantum coherence,” or the state in which the behavior of these atoms can be predicted.” Oh come on... who wants to watch boring atoms dance in unison... I wonder if they could dilate stuff around public transport and thereby make trains and buses run on time?

Speaking of Sisters of Mercy... not sure what happened after that, but they went all pop music on me and I sort of forgot about them
-
Not saying they sound the same, but they do remind of me old songs like these... Edit: They did some interesting cover versions of old hits too, including Rolling Stones' Gimme Shelter and this one

Reminds me of an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system I implemented once for a customer back in Denmark (many years ago)... To test currency exchange rate calculations, i introduced 'CHICKEN' as a currency code in their system and set up transactions against EUR, GBP, DKK etc. Barter economy FTW The customer was not impressed (no sense of humour)

Doesn’t really sound like Rammstein, but it reminds me of Sisters of Mercy, which I listened quite a bit to once upon a time (got a few cds too in my dusty old collection somewhere)

I saw an interview on the news here the other day, where a Danish guy (with heavy Danish accent) told the reporter, it was recommended by the government, therefore probably Ok to do so. I couldn't help burst out laughing, thinking about how some of our US forum members here would react if somebody said the same on US tv about the US government There is a difference though. Although the Danish government controls many aspect of life, they are probably also one of the most scrutinized governments. The press, the independent auditors, the independent courts etc. are always (and I mean always) looking them over the shoulder and checking their every move, every action and every penny spent (and on what). It's these checks and balances, combined with transparency, which allows people to have a degree of trust in the decision making process. Why would I want to live in Denmark? Too cold and too boring

I don't know if it was a slip of the tongue or deliberately (if so, kudos to her)

The only thing I've followed recently in Australian politics was the Morrison governments Religious Discrimination law. Which, in it's original form was a Carte Blanche for people to discriminate in workplaces and just about everywhere else, if they thought somebody offended their religious sensibilities. They then had to backtrack on just about every point, first explicitly making it clear schools could not expel the kids because they were members of the LGBT(add missing letters here) community, had the "wrong faith" and similar. Basically allowing schools, workplaces, shops etc. the discriminate without accountability, as long as it was for a good Christian cause. https://www.abc.net.au/newsa/2022-02-10/government-consults-religious-groups-discrimination-bill/100818568 Another broken election promise (fortunately). Murdoch is probably foaming at the mouth at the moment. edit: Quote: "The Australian Christian Lobby said removing exemptions that allowed schools to discriminate against trans students "completely undermined" the bill." Tl;dr; what's the point of a discrimination bill if you're not allowed to discriminate against school kids? What would be next? Public witch burning?

I knew it, bloody price gougers at Oxford University, lets hang them all from the street lights! Besides being the first time my gut instinct had let me down this badly, I would at least feel good with myself, that I did what I thought was best for my fellow man. No, I probably wouldn't trust the CDC in the US, I sure as heck dont trust *anything* the current Australian government tells me, but you know who I trust? The health authorities in my old country, whose advice I've been following since the beginning of the outbreak. They don't give a flying (beep) about big pharmacy companies.

Had a very light fever overnight (enough to make it a bit of a restless sleep) and a slight headache today (not enough to bother with a painkiller). Not too shabby I suppose. Three shots of mRNA in a period of a little more than 6 months... I wonder if there by now are any original Gorth particles left in my body?

That isn't really how science works... it's a constant search and refining of knowledge. You can put a little Nurgle sticker on the side of your truck for every person you bring down

Part of the problem with gathering proof of war crimes is, Scott Morrison and his government sic’ed the federal police on the news outlets and seized pretty much all of it (what was available at the time) because it was too damaging for the government (didn’t fit their narrative of good vs evil) edit: not sure if good link, sucks doing on a phone while in bed https://amp.abc.net.au/article/11309810

...sad face... running out of Rammstein stuff to post. I'm sure they have more than 30 greatest hits Ah well, the lead singer Lindemann will have to do then. Blut ("Blood")
