Which was the greatest war ever?
Gorth replied to stormcloud777's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Voted "Other" There is nothing Great about wars. You can have the war involving most troops and material or the war of most significant consequences or the costliest in lives etc. but great ? Not really -
I'm sure that will make the beta testers sleep a lot easier now. Working in QA seems like Darwinism in it's truest form... test or die, test and die, etc.

Wierd Camera Bug on Planescape: Torment
Gorth replied to Child of Flame's topic in Computer and Console
Well, good luck then I'll just ask Pandaman anyway if he ever found a solution to his problem. Sounds like you guys ran into the same thing. -
Wierd Camera Bug on Planescape: Torment
Gorth replied to Child of Flame's topic in Computer and Console
I've heard about this bug before http://www.winterwind-productions.com/foru...opic.php?t=2628 but we never discovered a cause or fix. The only thing I remember was that there at some point was issues with logitech drivers and I.E. games, but then, my memory may be faulty on the subject, never had the issue myself. -
Never underestimate a Cannok
Gorth replied to OrganisedChaos's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Heh, didn't notice that because he always shows up after I've emptied his box. This is usually the first DS I get on Telos when showing him the error of stopping an armed thief. -
Never underestimate a Cannok

Actually, so did one of the inhabitants of one the apartments too on Telos... I almost dropped my lower jaw when a guy complained about me looting his apartment Can't really remember if there was a lot of looting innocent peoples stuff in Kotor2... -
I didn't vote, because polls like this are generally useless. I'll just make a quick note of what I liked and disliked about each. Taris: Was fun the first time through. It had sewers, 'nuff said, no self respecting crpg should be without sewers, I love sewers. The quests were pretty basic, but introduced you to a bit of background, the Sith and everything else with a big red sign that said PLOT THIS WAY -->. The downside to Taris was, after the first run through, you A) didn't care because you knew the planet would be nuked anyway and b) You wanted to avoid levelling up because of the stupid unvountary jedidom enforced upon you. Peragus: Pretty much the same as Taris, was interesting the first time through, because you could piece together a rather interesting story of what happened after your arrival. Suffers the same drawbacks as Taris too, the place gets nuked and it's just getting a few xp and some loot and off to start the "real" game. Telos, I would compare to Dantooine, and frankly, I liked dealing with Ithorians, Czerka, The Exchange, The TSF and others more than killing Kath Hounds and settling feuds between farmers (and that murder case that I made a point of avoiding after the first time)...

Currently listening to Planescape: Torment soundtrack. Thanks to the boys and girls from Interplay who provided the downloads before it went offline. You know who you are I've done a bit of searching on the net every now and then, but never found any info on Mark Morgan... Did he ever do anything besides the Fallout and PS:T music ?!? And how did BIS ever get the idea of letting him do the music ?

T3 He got the skills, the staying power, the damage dealing ability and the good looks. Don't need either of the other two

The first crpg I can remember playing would be the original Temple of Apshai by Epyx in 1983-84. The first crpg I can remember actually completing was Phantasie by SSI in 1985. Never played a console game (watching my 5 year old nephew play doesn't count). Edit: The above games were C64 versions btw.

Could it be related to this: http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showtopic=32268 I stopped caring about the movies a while ago, but even I would shiver at the thought of Jar Jar Binks destroys the Death Star. I hope it's just some digital filtering of the originals for 3D showings...

The various replies you can get regarding your looks when turning darkside. One of the cantina owners (can't remember which) offered me an ointment for my "condition" One unintentionally funny one was caused by the random loot system. After having taken out some automated gun turrets, one the turret remains had some meditation gloves. Somehow, trying to depicture in my mind what a gun turret would use meditation gloves for was just... too absurd and I burst out laughing

Mostly when she was talking. Tried Silence 15' on her, but it didn't work

The only tragic heroine in Kotor 2 would be Kreia. Winning only by creating someone able to kill you is sort of a lose/lose situation :'( Handmaiden was there for the underwear, Mira for the red hair and Visa had a big nose. Not sure about already dead and decomposing girls (Vash).

Watching too much "Life of Brian" recently ? In that case, we should all follow the Shoe (unlike the heathens who follow the Gourd)

What do you mean by "better party support"? The only problem I can see is that the game doesn't let you use NPC skill in places where it should (item breakdowns, building stuff on the Hawk, repairing T3) As it works currently, you pretty much always control your protagonist, adding party members to increase the number of blades or guns a protagonist can bring to bear in a combat situation. In party based adventuring, you do (at least I hope so) get the feel of being a team instead of a souped of protagnist. It's a bit hard to explain, but I think the biggest problem is the POV and the onedimensional combat, whereas if you could zoom out and up from the combat (and de-attach the &^%$ camera from the character that is currentlly "active") you might be able to apply a bit of tactics to it. Like sending in your one or two tanks as a screen for your ranged guys, whether these then lob grenades or shoots fireballs. As it is now, you usually ends up with a 'lump" of 1-3 characters, where you focus on one of them and hope the other two doesn't get you all killed in the process (by getting trapped by obstacles or blocking each other, allowing only one guy to attack etc.). Heck, even Fallout was more fun getting yourself killed by Ian in. So, what I'm probably missing (in the combat aspect of the game) is the expansion from one (headlong rush towards enemy) to two (using the area in both x and y directionsm terrain and different ranges of attack) dimensions. I thought some slightly random thoughts in another post once, just speculating how Kotor (1&2) would have been, if designed for something like the ancient Infinity engine because I missed party based adventuring... it was fun speculation but just that, speculation.

Thanks for digging it out and putting it together. It was fun reading.

Possibly, I might just have jumped to conclusions because the name and the drawing was the same colour

Less npc's that you get more attached to. IIRC, you are not exactly a fan of PS:T, but I did like that your choice wasn't between which half or third of the available ones went into your party, but which one or two didn't make it with the rest of the group. This is based on a condition though, that the game runs on an engine with way better party support than the current NWN/Kotor engines, otherwise npcs are just there to feed you some voice overs and the illusion of being a team, where what it really does is just adding more damage potential to the protagonist (who can now wield 6 lightsabers instead of 2 etc.).

It was very funny reading, forget the gamespot and all the other interviews, this one beats them all  Still not sure how that highschool crpg of his would turn out, I mean, the guy did do New Reno after all...
