  1. The open endedness being exactly what was compared Lets just say that, based on previous releases, a certain pessimism is going to prevail until proven unfounded. We are all entitled to bias and prejudices Why ? I can't remember mentioning that company even once in this thread Which brings me back to my first post, I liked the open endedness the way it was done in one game and not another (and therefore would like to see that done again the way I liked it vs. the way I didn't like it) Good night. I'm currently in northern Europe
  2. The thing that appealed second most to me was the feeling of an "open" world. I was the one who created the story as I moved around the wasteland, surviving, searching, saving my vault/village and generally being busy being the chosen one. Never mind that it was the overseer/village elder that chose me ;)" For me, Fallout was how it was done right and Morrowind how it wasn't.
  3. It's still based on a movie... :p" Sorry about being a nitpicker. I was just worried about you comparing my beloved Pirates! with that thing published by that other company...
  4. Pirates! was developed by Firaxis and published (currently) by Atari (AFAIK). At least thats what my game says.
  5. I hope you mean Pirates of the Caribbean, not Pirates!... Edit: Ok, Caribbean with a single 'r'
  6. Ewwwwwwww, really? The video is slugish, so I can't really see for myself, but are we sure it wasn't just for demo purposes? Sounds like a glorified version of the old Fallout "empathy" skill (or perk or trait or whatever it was).
  7. Isn't "Cult" sort of an alternative definition for things that a few like very much and most don't ? :D Anyway, I can only base it on personal experiences, not on some large scale gathering of empiric data
  8. A few... Cube http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0123755/ Casper http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112642/ La Guerre Du Feu http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082484/ Not so sure about the last one. Only met two other people who've seen it. They hated it
  9. My favourite was the Nosferatu. It sort of suited my playing style (sneaky) and it involved a lot a sewers... Had nothing to do with vampiric powers. Runners up would be the Malkavian, for the insane dialogue. This one, I actually found hard because the powers you've got are pretty inefficient in boss battles.
  10. In no particular order (and I've probably forgotten a few great shows due to the stress of trying to remember them all) Lexx Firefly ST:TNG Angel The Twilight Zone Millennium Family Ties Sopranos And a lot more...
  11. There are those that would kill you for that I'm sorry but it is boring most of the time. And you know what? COME GET SOME You have just made it to the black list...
  12. I suspected as much. Takes some of the bite out of the joke though I still wonder about the beginning of the game though, what *are* you doing in that old rundown motelroom bed (besides getting nice dental punctuation marks on your neck). I remember them not having old fashioned sex from somewhere. Might be conversation, might be the manual, but they apparantly havent quite lost the power of seduction.
  13. Would you dare letting those fangs near your... well, whatever >_
  14. Not frustrated that Obsidian doesn't have it, nor do I hate Bethesda. I'm just frustrated that Bethesda has it, which is something that I hate. Having tried Morrowind for a few hours, I had hoped I would never have to touch a game by that company again and would have lived happily ever after if we had taken seperate paths, just leaving each other alone. I would almost say anybody but Bethesda, who is the antieverythingfalloutstandsfor... >_ Wasn't that diplomatically put ?
  15. But Pirates is 5? mini games linked together with a seascape. >_ I think dancing is easier from the keypad although a gamepad is the easiest of the lot. Compared to fixing the lightining towers in FFX dancing is a piece of cake. Although I'd still get dancing shoes before a sword. I suddenly feel like playing Pirates! again... Still, I think, that there are mini games that makes more sense than others. The tactical combat ones makes sense for me. Of course, you could also argue that dancing is similar to tactical combat :D Slightly more on topic, just finished playing the Space Empires IV demo for the umpteenth time.
  16. Sadly they do. Same fighting style (apparantly) and even the same name for the villains (not the famous 100-200 years too early pirates, but the dastardly spaniards who kidnapped your family). More ships allows you more crew members which is quite handy when assaulting major cities. Even at 18 year old, you will suck at dancing. Did I mention that I hate mini games ?
  17. Whenever I hear the name Vader, I used to think "I'm your father Luke". Now I just think "Noooo...". A pox upon Lucas >_ I seriously think that Malak vs Vader is a battle of the brain dead zombies
  18. Just about anybody was smarter than Malak. He got tricked by Revan, he got tricked by the Jedi, he got tricked by the player character... anybody except perhaps Darth Bandon was smarter than Malak :D
  19. Jeg used to have some rather dark desktops... I still like it neat though. In 50% size:
  20. Adds half a point to toughness and an extra "bite" attack ?
  21. Women... does anybody know what they truly mean ?
  22. Mini games >_ Real time, where real time doesn't add anything except a twitch dimension for the sake of adding a twitch dimension to a game. If you don't have the attention span for a game, buy a fps game :-" Voice overs just for the sake of adding voice overs. If you can't do it well, then it just detracts from the game (I swear, I'll skip the next game released with Jennifer Hale in it!) Porting console controls to the most awkward keyboard layouts possible... what happened to combined mouse and keyboard controls. The mysterious shrinking of game levels. Not sure if it was just something that happened from Red Faction to Red Faction 2 or a more widespread thing, but boy the sequel sucked (I've been told, but not verified, that Unreal 2 was the same thing compared to Unreal)
  23. It's an honourable tradition of old publishing companies being bought and run by frenchmen...
  24. It's the "Black Isle" curse  As soon as J.E.Sawyer starts working on a D&D title, hold on to your reigns...
