Thanks Meta Eagerly awaiting second part. First part looks familiar (and unlike the online translations, which incuded stuff like "ego" and what have you). I gave up on the sig viewing a long time ago. Blame Servant of Eru aka Child of Flame aka Fenghuang (sp?) for that These days I check peoples profiles to see their sigs

Baldur's Gate - whole series for ten quid
Gorth replied to Walsingham's topic in Computer and Console
One thing I don't understand about the various IWD releases is, why they never include Trials of the Luremaster on a cd? I've bought IWD, Heart of Winter, and the IWD The "Ultimate" Collection. I put Ultimate in quotation marks because, while it included everything from sound track cd's to strategy guides in pdf format on cd, it did not include Trials of the Luremaster. Is that expansion some kind of pariah or...? just a rant. I love my IWD boxed set, since it gave me all the other goodies, including IWD2 which I didn't have before. Similar weird that they couldn't figure out how to put a cd with the most recent patches available into the IWD and Baldurs Gate boxed sets. You still have to hunt around on the internet for them (unless you are an old gamer who already have them lying around somewhere). -
Brief explanation: I play this miniature wargame called "Warhammer" and I have a nice undead army lead by a vampire lord and his pet necromancer. Part of the hobby, besides playing battles against other peoples armies is the collecting, painting and modelling part. One member of my army is the guy (or rather the skeleton, think "Armies of darkness") who runs around with my battle standard. This banner is (or rather used to be) painted on a small piece of paper and glued to the banner pole. Unfortunately my banner met an ignominous end (I dropped the miniature into a cup of coffee and no, it's no laughing matter, if he hadn't been a skeleton he would have been boiled alive). The guy survived, got a quick bath in clean water and was all shiny and new. Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said for the banner itself. Time to paint a replacement banner with some heraldic symbols and a catchy motto on it, which is where I need some help. I would like to keep the motto from the old banner, but unfortunately I don't speak latin. The text said: I have a Catapult! Give me your money or I will throw a rock at you (it was made in the time before the rules changed and vampire counts could no longer use catapults. The enemy doesn't need to know though) I tried a couple of online translators, but they came up with different results for the same sentence, so I don't have much faith in them.

I'm not sure. It's hard to describe exactly, but I think it is the being surrounded of a lot of people. Never really thought about at what number or what degree of proximity triggers it. It sometimes happens outdoors too, like amusement parks, crowded railroad stations etc. Makes me want to climb up one of the street lights to get away

I hate to admit it, but the original "The Fog" made me kind of jumpy on my way home after having seen it. It didn't help that I had to cycle through a small remote forested area in... yes, fog. A pox upon my imagination :fear: Non movie related fobias, I got two (that I know of), one being heights and the other being a rather odd one, rooms full of people. Makes me all jumpy and looking for the exit constantly

Yeah, the total issues count is slowly creeping upwards (the last number I remember seeing was 770 total issues). Luckily they seem able to fix them faster than they appear though -
Oldie but goodie... I remember it from when it was young  Who said philosophy wasn't useful?

Bah, you guys wouldn't see a conspiracy even if it slapped you in the face with a trout

An user review of some of Obsidian's products
Gorth replied to ouiouiwewe's topic in Obsidian General
Back when Malachor V was the last and lingering impression of their games I would have disagreed. Fortunately NWN2 came along and made me forget the previous last impression, so now I probably agree (can't think of anything better since VMBL) -
Unfortunately, the forum rules prevents showing what was special about her (especially post-surgery)

Yeah, like Fallout 2, Torn, Van Buren, Jefferson... Face it, nobodys perfect (except possibly David Braben, Ian Bell and Mike Singleton, but thats another story). -
The lawyer did it! Best way to ensure that his own kid inherits her money (which they swindled the old geezers family out of) and under his control. Any better conspiracy theory out there?

Baldur's Gate - whole series for ten quid
Gorth replied to Walsingham's topic in Computer and Console
I got one of those about six months ago... First and foremost because I didn't have BG1+ToTSC and secondly because the main games were on DVD (and thirdly to get an extra backup set of my BG2. so I could now throw out my homemade backups). The Icewind Dale box I bought the same place was still nicer though (even though I had both IWD and IWD2 already), with all it's extra soundtrack, strategy guide pdf file on disc etc. -

My Standards are much higher than everybody elses and therefore my opinion carries more weight than yours K2 was a decent game with a crappy ending. NWN2 was a good game which actually had an ending. Not sure if either of those two games will enter the ranks of classics, but as long as you get your moneys worth of entertainment out of them... Somebody hide this poor horse carcass from the kids with sticks. -

192 minor issues down, 22 minor issues to go. Smells like a version change in a foreseeable future. It also looks like that one text issue that has been around since forever is gone. Probably a mercy killing >_ -
Discovering the reason for the weird floating text above nobody and the unsolvable quests was the first time I wished for a game publisher to go out of business...

Actually you bring up a good point. The Mexicans have no historical standing to assert any past "ownership" of the southwest. Only the Pueblo and Navajo indians can do that. The discussion made me curious and I dug a bit history up from various sources. Man that place has a colourful history. It could almost have been European with all the ethnic groups and forms of governments over less than five centuries  First there was the natives, then the spanish settlers, the mexicans, the russians (not to mention the monarchy of New Helvetia founded by that swiss guy), the independent republic of California and finally conquered by Commodore Sloat for the US. Apart from the fate of the indians, none of the history books seems to care much about the losers of wars though.

Downloading... just in time for my old games to arrive (finally cleared customs, a sad byproduct of jumping country every now and then). It still might be a week or two before I find my Ja2 box among all the other stuff though

Out of curiosity (because history interests me), what happened to the mexicans who used to live there before the english speaking immigrants came to California? Did they all get killed off? Did they get the same deal as the native indians elsewhere (reservations etc.) ? I remember reading up on some history, that the mexican goverment tried to buy the loyalty of the new english settlers by offering them land, but the end result was that they accepted the land but stayed loyal to their US neighbour. It almost looks like history is repeating itself, just with in the reverse direction

I guess it's time to quit the garlic... :'( You're a Vampire!! Seductive, beautiful, mysterious, and quite evil. You're very dark and dangerous.. You kill to feed, and prey upon the most unsuspecting and beautiful people you can find...

I don't think it has anything to do with writing a good operating system or playing police. I think it has more to do with monopolising the distribution and use of digital media. [/scepticism]
