Why are people talking about North Korea like they are lead by rational people? Frankly I'm expecting the North Korean Old Guard to go "Well chaps, we're getting old. This is boring, we'll die soon. Wouldn't it suck to die without leaving a legacy? Those ****ing Americans and their South Korean dogs, let's give them something to remember." And boom, World War 3! Does it qualify as World War 3 if it's just the world against one country? Yeah, methinks he is giving NK too much credit there. Iran is probably the closest thing they come to a country with "shared interests" and I doubt they would stand up for them if the bullets start flying. China who kept NK alive in the first conflict has lost interest and desire economic stability and profit more than any outdated concepts of world communism.

I'm probably a minority, but I found Zevran, Dog and Sten to be the most interesting personalities in DA:O. @Cant: It's that thing, internal consistency or whatever it's called. If it makes sense in the context of the game world, it can get away with a lot

So many Ptolemeans can't be wrong... Caligula too claims that some things best stays in the family. I prefer my party members medium rare and semi controllable. Like a team you lead, not like a single player with 5 times the hitpoints, every available skill and 10 weapon/staff/wand wielding arms.

You can save a lot of money on election campaigning if you don't have to bribe the serfs

Bitter? No. Never been in the victim role. I wouldn't develop shrink wrap software, art, music, whatever, even at gunpoint. Condescending? You bet. It has mostly to do with despising the mentality and the weakness I think that it represents. Probably no comfort to anyone that I feel equal contempt for nationalism and a few other personality traits.

Yeah, she even named her son Chris. Chris Avelline...

the power of the free market as the suits say, "let the market regulate itself" Actually, it's the exact opposite of the free market (which is what I have a problem with)

You people just don't appreciate swamps

Your post raises a different question... why the heck a game in two similar countries can be charged $40 and $100 respectively. It stinks of price fixing and the attempts to prevent parallel imports only reinforces the assault on the olfactory nerves. Same thing applies to the movie industry and their region encoding scheme.

The swamps were even better than the sewers and that's saying something It would have helped if the sewers had had more rats and less drowners.

I really want to look forward to The Witcher 2, but I worry about the changes. Part of me is (optimistically) hoping for more of the same whereas a different part of me is (pessimistically) dreading that all their efforts have gone into expanding on areas that I do appreciate. Lets see when it gets out

Wasn't 'Avelline' one of those characters that Leliana had some stories about in DA:O? Or do I just mix up the French sounding names? Or is it just a popular name where she came from?

Almost finished a game of EU III (with all 3 current expansions), having reached 1802. Played as Brandenburg and later as Holy Roman Empire (after assimilating all the member states). Ze world now zpeakz German. Managed to goad the Persion Empire (only realm to rival my size and prestige) into a two successive wars, in which I devastated them. Nabbing a few gold provinces and forcing them to release a bunch of nations both times. They are now only half the size they used to be and no threat anymore. The border frictions in Anatolia and eastern Siberia were getting a bit annoying anyway.

The stupidity in this thread is staggering. I blame my lack of a Ferrari on the legit market not accomodating me. If you don't like the word 'stealing', try 'welcher', according to the dictionary it is more correct from a narrow viewpoint: "Noun 1. welcher - someone who swindles you by not repaying a debt or wager" Synonyms: Fraad, Scammer, Shammer, Swindler, Grifter, Gouger, etc. However, 'stealing' fits better because you are stealing the most valuable commodity a human being has to offer, his/her time invested in something. They are never goiing to get it back when wasted the mites of the digital age. we are already seeing the first results of that. Wanna bet that Ubisofts measures and the built in DRM in Windows Vasta/7 is only the beginning? Waiting for the day that your game requires a retinal scan and saliva samples to confirm ownership before launching.

Physics is bloody fascinating - BEC made out of photons!
Gorth replied to Humodour's topic in Way Off-Topic
Time to start a support group for Photons. So, who's for stopping cruel and inhuman experiments on innocent photons, trapping them between mirrors, exposing them to extreme temperatures and poking them, just to see what happens? Photons are meant to be free! Support EPIC (Ethical Photon Investigation Curriculum) -
Dude it's a thread about piracy, not an advertorial for Bioware. and you don't want the input and perspective from game developers on the subject because?...
-
Whatever you call not paying for something... but that is really just semantics. Scaling the wall and attending a rock concert without paying the tickets or tell the plumber "good riddance" and dismissing him without paying him for services provided isn't technically stealing either. Doesn't make any of them an ethical beacon of light though. It still gets back to the dead horse beating though, people want something, they spot an opportunity to weasel their way out of paying for it, they estimate can get away with it without getting punished. The excuses are uniformly ridiculous. Favourites being "nobody gets hurt", "it isn't stealing", "everybody else does it" and "they are rich corporations, who cares?"

Thread pruned. Those who wants to flog the dead horse of piracy can find the posts here

I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favourite thread on Obsidian

I wonder if they mean players or playthroughs. I played about 3 games as male and then tried to play the 4th as female (ending badly, I suck at playing female). Not too many surprises except two: - Garrus' popularity. Mister self righteous vigilante just never sat particularly well with me - Only 50% of players have the Normandy fully upgraded by the end of the game?!? How many is 14% of the squad... 1 member on average? I think I lost Zaeed half the time (probably a result of picking the "good" option during his quest). Edit: Heh, 10% like pickled Krogan, the thought of not releasing him never occurred to me -
I have to wonder why China even bothers with NK. What's so worthwhile in defending it? Why do you have pawns in a chess game?
-
Heck of a Freudian slip. Brings back memories... what was his name, Dan Quayle or some such As to the whys and wherefore speculations, quoting myself from elsewhere (because I like the sound of my voice): I.e. they (NK) need to deflect the attention from bad soccer performances and empty bellies.
