What are you playing now? Part 3'ish
After much painful separation from valuable stuff, useful equipment and life essentials, I managed to squeeze my load down to below 70 pounds and started on Honest Hearts. Shortly after starting, the caravan got ambushed. Not really a big surprise. Killing off the raiders and salvaging everybodys equipment, I started to make my way across the ropebridge. Of course, no more than halfway across, some conveniently planted shooter starts taking pot shots at Gorth. Oh no, not this Gorth, so I duck and run, taking cover behind rocks until I have a native looking guy in the cross hairs of my gauss rifle. Sent his lifeless body flying alright. Then it suddenly started on a laundry list of failed quests... what the??? Maybe I wasn't supposed to vaporize the guy? Ah well, I got a save from just before the ambush anyway.

Modern society
It might surprise you. but apart from Berlusconi Era Italy, western media are not state controlled. Rather the opposite. What they are however, is controlled by lobby and special interest groups with agendas that can sometimes be almost hopeless to figure out, due to lack of transparency. So no, they are rarely "independent", but not state controlled either. You could argue they are controlled by the same people that control governments (the "king makers").

Oh, cry me a river. I'm playing the game with Sawyer's mod installed-- my (5 STR) character's max carry weight is 100. And Stimpaks weigh a quarter-pound each! But, it's *my* stuff. I found it! We wants it, we needs it. Must have the precious... I guess I can leave the toaster, maybe some of the coffee jugs and pots, maybe some of the spare laser pistols, some of the glass pitchers and a score empty bottles behind, but sheesh it makes for some hard choices.

What are you playing now? Part 3'ish
Decided that my hiatus from Fallout: New Vegas had lasted long enough and picked up my game where I had left off. Still a tonne of sidequests to do, but went anyway to see Caesar himself in his fortress. After a polite exchange of Aves and mutual promises of eternal friendship and loyalty, the sucker actually gave me the platinum chip! Decided that such valuable information was best used to benefit Gorth. I wonder if it's safe to visit Caesar again and suggest doing something nasty to Benny? Anyway, wanted to start on the next DLC (having completed Dead Money previously), so I figured Honest Hearts was next. Chased away the whimpy Vault Dweller wannabe and I could also part with my companions for a while, no biggie. But then... your carry on baggage limit is 70 pounds. WTF is this, Ryan Air??? What am I supposed to do with the other 250 pounds of bare essentials that you should never leave home without?

What you did today
As somebody who works in an environment where the locals are outnumbered 15 to 1 by people whose first language isn't English, an accent sort of loses it's value. A genuine Aussie accent is what stands out in the crowd.

STEAM!
I picked up the 3 DLC's I didn't have for CKII. Less than $4. I feel dirty.

I swear, I'm not laughing... it's just a nervous twitch at the corners of my mouth. The mental picture I see for me does look like something out of a Looney Tune cartoon (or whatever it was that featured Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner)

Shadowrun Returns
I don't know much about the Shadowrun universe, but that artwork sure gives off some Bladerunner vibes (which is a good thing)

new scientific discoveries
Your tax money at work Batman's gliding method debunked "Four students from the University of Leicester have calculated that the superhero's method of using his cape to glide from tall buildings would result in him hitting the ground at life-threatening speeds." "The team found that if Batman jumped from a building 150 metres high, he could successfully glide a distance of about 350m. But he probably wouldn't survive the landing, due to the high speeds reached during his descent." "The students calculated that his impact with the ground would be equivalent to him being struck by a car travelling at 80km/h. One of the students, David Marshall, 22, said: 'If Batman wanted to survive the flight, he would definitely need a bigger cape.'" Batman, you are busted!

Saw a game called 'Endless Space' on Gamersgate. The screenshots looked interesting, but the 'blurb' describing the game was 50 lines of marketing drivel of the most stomach churning kind, oozing buzzwords without the faintest hint at what the game is about. Has anybody played it? Is it any good?

What you did today
Celebrated a bit on the Friday at work. Everybody having achieved their goals for annual growth and increase in revenue, it was time to find beer, wine and take away dinner to celebrate Happy Financial New Year Nothing fancy, but it's nice stopping a bit early at the end of the week and enjoy some beers and what have you with your colleagues. Not that we don't do that bit every Friday, but the nice lunch and dinner in the evening meant no hurry to get home. Of course, I'm still in the final stages of one major project and halfway through another one, so it will be a bit of a relief going on leave at the end of the month. I should probably start figuring out what's worth seeing/visiting while in Hong Kong.

Mass Effect 3
It still sucks to be EDI though, as she is "tied" to the Normandy and presumably can't leave it (she said something to the effect of her borrowed body had to stay within a certain range of her core on the ship). Joker might start building a tent to live out the rest of his life in. This being space fantasy, they can of course put the Normandy back together and fly off towards the setting sun (I seem to remember seeing that in one of the youtube videos)

Mass Effect 3
The setting sucked, but the game mechanics, skill system and their attempts at building a "honey comb" structure leaving you free to roam around between major locations as you desired was nice to the degree that it felt promising for the future. I.e. lots of potential mixed with a bit of nostalgia because it brought back memories of a time when they were more ambitious when it came to scope and level of detail.
