  1. "We won't use this data we've collected and stored on you without your consent to do anything wrong, we promise!" One of my favourite quotes... "The Central Intelligence Agency is committed to protecting your privacy and will collect no personal information about you unless you choose to provide that information to us. " CIA's privacy notice I know, that was the CIA, not the NSA. It just struck me as funny somehow. I'm easily amused sometimes.
  2. Should I only care about the curbing of civil liberties once they have directly effected me? I still remember those government paid posters being everywhere, railroad stations, bus stops etc. encouraging people to watch each other carefully and report any unusual behavior. Yes, that was in Australia.
  3. Haven't read the entire thread yet, but thought this was worth quoting to show support for that particular message Only real challenge is, when you get older it gets a bit harder every time you want to try new challenges in new places. So many countries to go, so many people to meet yet...
  4. Ants have proven to be quite successful with the upbringing of offspring, despite not being raised by their biological parents On a more serious note, I simply regard homosexuality as one of many mutations (like red hair, white skin, a 6th toe, high IQ, whatever) that evolution applies to test new approaches to life. If it turns out to provide advantages, the gene will become dominant over time, if the disadvantages are greater than the advantages, it will not become a successful branch and will either become extinct or reduced to insignificance.
  5. I wonder if blood transfusions would be the new Jedi "doping" technique? Watch this space for the annual Jedi games on Coruscant. Powerlifting, Rock throwing, fastest 3000m while levitating...
  6. Games are often more interesting (imnsho) when they don't have some benevolent fix it all residing in the background. Probably part of why i'm a fan of the Warhammer/WH40K settings. Lots of Gods. Most of them are capricious, indifferent or outright malevolent. Plenty of people who worship bad gods, worship the emperor or just worship material wealth. Also lots of atheists. The latter usually gets cleansed by flamethrower or eaten by the demons that the atheists claim are the fabrication of peoples imagination (which ironically, they quite literally are).
  7. I would love seeing Obsidian been commissioned to have a go at a WH40K Inquisitor CRPG. Just imaging MCA being allowed to indulge in all his darkest fantasies turned up to max and then mostly getting flak for being too mellow Also, we need more stick men comics.
  8. "To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods. "
  9. The truth is out there... Joking aside, now I'm actually getting curious about the game.
  10. It's not so much asking for permission, I don't think things work that way. It's about pitching a project, convincing that they would benefit a lot from financing a new project and commissioning the project pitcher to develop the product for them.
  11. I have received a game that was completely free of bugs. It was called chess. Apparently it's considered a classic now. Yeah, who said nobody plays turn based games anymore???
  12. That was one of the best explanations I've seen in a long while (if not ever) of introverts. Being one, I could definitely relate to it
  13. The goat in the brothel was something indeed Trying to include the whole fanbase is impossible though, as some groups are mutually exclusive in their likes/dislikes and tolerances/intolerances.
  14. I can see it for me... Scotland is going to be the next "Cuba Crisis" when Scapa Flow gets rented to the Russians to use as a forward naval base
  15. Based entirely on memory... I think they said something about having scrapped it, the reason being the cost of the middle-ware used in the engine meant it wasn't cost efficient depending on what scale of game you wanted to develop. Hence the choice of Unity for PoE without half a dozen other companies needing to be paid licenses/royalties. My perception quite possibly got warped over time, but that was the gist of it
  16. Playing Life® in "Iron Man" mode... Really wanting to get one of the 3 characters I rolled and started going in PoE, but can't find the time at the moment
  17. I always thought Cromwell was Englands answer to Ayatollah Khomeini, wanting to turn England into a theocracy.
  18. Sometimes it really is just the little things that makes the difference. That stupid looking saber killed my interest in the new movie just as effectively as Ewoks killed off my interest in the SW franchies for a few decades.
  19. Just guessing that i did it... it told me after i clicked a cryptic button: Благодарим Вас за участие в опросе. Edit: Short version, no i don't buy games for my phone.
  20. I thought you were a fan of the democratic values of the "western world"? Should free speech only be tolerated when we like what we hear is pretty much what you are saying? Who is then to judge what is OK and what is not OK to be critical of? Most "civilised" countries already have a number of exceptions encoded in law that puts a limit on free speech. Would you let mob rule decide what should allowed to be said and what not?
  21. So, you guys better stand still and stop shaking those tectonic plates...
  22. I liked seeing the Geth perspective too. Things became less black and white after that. But yeah, after K** L*** showed up, the game took a nosedive quality wise. Before him, I only truly hated the "dream sequences" with the stupid child. Edit: I dislike QTE's, but as much as they detracted for the game, Bioware scored some goodwill points by completely dropping minigames, making up for that
  23. Pictures or it didn't happen ... Yes, that was a joke
