  1. Thought this was an interesting blog... Commodities Collapsed Just Before The Last Stock Market Crash – So Guess What Is Happening Right Now? It's basically an observation of patterns in the economy and the belief that commodity prices are the early indicators of how the (global) economy changes when demand slows down or speeds up. Oh, and the observation that the prices are heading for a 13 year low, indicating bad things happening within the next few years. Time to bring out the umbrellas in case the sky is falling?
  2. I used to think I was white but now I'm apparently Hispanic. Is there a support group for people that have lost their white privilege? Reminds me a bit of poor pluto. That one lost its status as a planet Compared to that, yours is an inner world problem Edit: Thought about calling it a 3rd world problem, Earth being the third planet, but that would have made the post serious
  3. Took me way too long to appreciate legacy gear. I mostly used it to "ship" mods and augments between alts. Only discovered lately, with the new appearance designer, the beauty of having pvp legacy gear that can be shared between factions and save a tonne of commendations and credits.
  4. Catharine, huh? The handle sounds familiar. I think I may have run into you, or thought you were insane due to your GTN asking prices, or something... Yes, my Cathar merc girl. I actually did sell the contents of a hypercrate (although I split that duty between her and Malpractise, my healer) within the last couple of months. May have been the one before the current release. Got good credits overall for the content too
  5. I guess all those little Chuck Norris effigies I planned to sell are worthless then I've spent most of my life shamelessly abusing my "white mans privileges", coming from a functional family, having an education, a passport that opens most borders and then went ahead and used it to live a life with only the problems I create for myself. Not so much a "racist" as a cultural imperialist, believeing in self determination, self reliance and generally not being a jerk (and looking down on various "-isms"). If somebody presented me with allegations of being "privileged", my response would pretty much be, just like you, I was born the way I am and I try to make the best of it.
  6. Dang, the only reason i picked Shadowlands over Jedi Covenant was a coin flip (no kidding, quite literally a coin flip), as i had little knowledge of the east coast servers. They looked very similar community and size wise when checking out the server forums. Most important thing for me was that the time zone difference was 3 hours less bad than the west coast. Harbinger made sense since my old Aussie friends all relocated there. Usually spend a couple of hours in the weekends doing stuff together there, in the small window of opportunity where we are all awake. All I Got is a few level 10's on JC. I could of course ship some of the Shadowlands toons there is anyone is interested in hooking up for a few runs of something. If anyone is interested in getting in touch on Harbinger, send Macroth (imp side) or Xantrailles (pub side) a message. Edit: In my experience since my first toon, levels 40-50 are the "hardest" to get through motivation wise. Edit2: If anyone wants to exchange holo frequencies on Red Eclipse, drop Wyldric (pub side) or Catharine (imp side) a line...
  7. From Dulfys site: I can just hear Kiras voice going "Feel my Force!" when that flower vase comes flying in the direction of my Jedi Knight
  8. Peace for our time...
  9. Funny fact. Denmark went through a similar phase in its history in the 1980's Decades of financial mismanagement by various (mostly social democrat, i.e. moderate left) governments had left the country with a humongous debt, threatening the future viability of the "welfare state". The Conservative party got the rather ungrateful task of trying to salvage the country's finances before hitting the point of not return into a total collapse and the country went through almost a decade of voluntary austerity measures, affectionately known as "The Potato Diet" (no more meat for you!). It was turbulent times, salary cuts, unemployment etc. But guess what? I think Denmark came out of it all the better, with a strong economy, balancing budgets and economic growth throughout the nineties and naughties.
  10. This. It's a country with a fiscal culture that is rotten to the core (been there several times in the past). When all the carrots keeps getting eaten and they keep expecting more or else! The carrot needs to be accompanied by the stick.
  11. So, is Malgus returning or not?... Time to dust off my little Darth Malgus statue that I got from my Collectors Edition. He could team up with Kephess and Vitiate to show this upstart emperor who is the biggest and baddest galactic ruler.
  12. I learned my lesson. XCOM was such a disappointment I doubt I'm going to touch another game claiming any X-COM (the originals, which i loved and still run on dos-box/gog versions) pedigree with a fire poker. No pre-order for me.

  14. Old indeed. It was before facebook (when myspace was the place) and even usenet got mentioned.
  15. I only ever played one match in GSF (when it was early release for subs) On the other hand, my win/loss record is 100% wins It looks like a slick, polished mini game and I think I actually wanted to like it, despite not being X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter. Based on the their pvp track record, I just didn't believe they could balance it properly to make it fun for all participants. Main joy killer though was the lack of joystick support. Only thing I've done with it since release is using the tutorial as an instant pvp flag removal (when you can't be bothered to wait the 5 minutes)
  16. For the historically interested, the flag in question was General Lee's "battle flag" and represented the struggle for a confederacy of independent states without a strong central government in Washington. For some Americans, it still represents that.
  17. "Good. Use your aggressive feelings, boy. Let the hate flow through you."
  18. I think I got around 18 character transfers lined up (of which i might have gone through with 2 or 3 at full price) Leaving a few toons behind to play with old friends, but the bulk is moving to the pve servers (mostly harbinger and shadowlands). Bastards still wont let me transfer toons to Red Eclipse.
  19. Moved to PoE section. Wasn't sure if this fit better in the build/strategy or here in the general section. Lets see if someone can offer helpful feedback.
  20. Mildly curious about Dishonored 2. Not sure about Mass Effect. Hated the X-Com game, so no interest there. Pillars of Eternity - The White March, oh yes Total Wars series were never my thing (my inherent dislike of RTS strikes again, regardless of the Warhammer name)
  21. In a perfect capitalist system, there will be very few companies making everything, selling it a very low prices. Problem is just, everybody will be unemployed and so, regardless of how cheap the products are, there will not be a market for their products. (says Gorth the armchair economist)
  22. She does indeed. I eventually ended up rolling some characters on Red Eclipse and "Baroness Catharine" (Cathar) was one of them. Still got most of my toons stuck on Begeren though, much to my regret. Started moving some of them to Harbinger and Shadowlands. Anyone on those servers who are active at "odd hours" (which is evenings European time) give me a shout. Finally got around to try the two recent ops a few times, just in story mode (some fights as tank, some as healer). Temple of Sacrifice is... boring. Challenging in a few places, but the story is just uninteresting. Ravagers I found better, at least some of it made you chuckle (master and blaster dialogue). Had some of the wackiness of Scum and Villainy. Combat since 3.0 is bad, really really bad. I wasn't around at launch, but some of the old timers claims it hasn't been this badly balanced since release. While I look forward to the new expansion, I'm worried that the game mechanics will be left mostly unchanged (or they keep making combat less and less interesting). Only the theoretical possibility of being able to send Quinn out the airlock is what keeps me going
  23. Those agencies are like children without parental guidance. Sometimes they need a bloody nose to teach them to watch where they go. Besides, I would be surprised if both the Russians and Americans didn't know exactly who is currently members of each others spy networks. Would be even less surprised if the info was another attempt at discrediting Snowden (especially if it's just hearsay without reliable sources). As for Assange... well, he can rot in his embassy building. No sympathy for authoritarian figures trying to build a cult of personality around themselves.
