The Outer Worlds won't launch on Steam
That's an odd decision. Why would you purposefully cut out the world's largest market?

The Outer Worlds won't launch on Steam
That's pretty cold, man. But admittedly, it's not EGS's fault that the Chinese government bans everything.

The Outer Worlds won't launch on Steam
Really? Is EGS not available in your country? In that case, I would understand your rage.

Sequel: new character or the same character?
Really? Already discussing the sequel? Anyways, I always vote new protagonist. When it comes to a game with clear "leveling up", there's nothing quite as cheesy as being a level 99 Demon Slayer at the end of game 1, only to regress to a level 1 Noob at the beginning of game 2. Deadfire made a valiant effort to justify it all, but it was still silly.

Would still buy if Epic Games Store Exclusive
Not sure if this needs a second thread, but anyways... Assuming I'm going to buy Outer Worlds (I haven't actually decided one way or another), I would buy it at Epic. I can understand people's hatred of micro-transactions, but I can't understand this hatred of exclusivity deals. I mean, Store A has a product you want. Store B doesn't have this product. Now you just have to walk a block further to get to Store B. This is pretty much how **** worked before we started downloading all our games.

The Outer Worlds won't launch on Steam
Am I the only one who isn't frothing at the mouth about this announcement? I mean, I would have preferred Steam, but is it such an inconvenience to download one more stupid platform? I mean, I'm going to have to buy a Nintendo Switch to play the new Pokemon when that comes out. And that will actually set me back 30,000 yen.

What game did you bought last?
Busy downloading Devil May Cry 5 as we speak! Psyched to get home and play it! Pull my devil trigger, baby!

Bounty huner class. Traps are actually cool stop hatin, obsidiots
I suppose I see what you mean. It's the same reason they don't want buffing to be a thing. It might be fun to have one major battle in the game where you're defending a town or something and have the opportunity to manually lay out traps and such. That sort of prep is usually done through dialogue, which isn't as fun.

Bounty huner class. Traps are actually cool stop hatin, obsidiots
I suppose it's not a bad idea for a subclass, but it would only be valuable in situations where you're able to prep the battlefield. What happens when you're teleported into the final boss's chamber? That would probably end up as something similar to Tyranny's spell customization system. Interesting idea, but I imagine it would be too much work to implement for a mere subclass. If we're getting separate level up screens, then I think the ranger's pet and the wizard's familiar should probably be first in line. Edit: "Obsidiots", really?

Best way to play modern 2019 D&D?
Personally, I don't like the idea of playing D&D online. Pen and paper role-playing is one of the few nerdy hobbies where you can actually get out of the house and interact with living human beings. If I'm going to be sitting in front of a PC, then I might as well play an actual PC game, not D&D. Dice apps are handy though. And I have nothing against a DM using a laptop to show illustrations or play music or whatever. PS Why all the ellipsis dots?

ideas for better sales of obsidian
Heijoushin replied to nouser's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)That my friend, is the question of the century. I only played a little, but I hated Divinity Original Sin 2's cheesy humor. I'd love to see a long side-by-side comparison review by someone who has played both games to the end.

ideas for better sales of obsidian
Heijoushin replied to nouser's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Honestly, apart from it being a direct sequel (which obviously chased away people who didn't play the first game), I really can't think what they did wrong. You say "better marketing" but how? I don't think the gaming community was unaware of PoE2's existence. But that is literally what they did! A modern RPG with the spirit of Baldur's Gate was the whole concept behind PoE! I suppose the only conclusion is that all the kids these days are too busy playing battle royale shooters to enjoy a good CRPG... *Grumble grumble* In my day, Battle Royale was a cult Japanese movie about teenagers killing each other... *Grumble grumble*

Needs more DLC
Heijoushin replied to nouser's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Yes, if rumors are to be believed, we may never see the end of the Eothas/Gods Pantheon story (honestly, no major loss there). But it seems like such a waste for the CRPG genre to die again after coming this far. Personally, I'm hoping they'll use the systems they've developed for a fresh CRPG game/story*. *Just please not another post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland. Getting so tired of that trope.

Any way to enable unique dialogues of a class for another class?
Heijoushin replied to nouser's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I'm pretty sure that the only way would be to mod the game. Look, I saw your other thread. 24 dialogues for druids may seem like a large amount, but spread over a vast game like Deadfire, you'll barely notice them.

Question about the Gods in Deadfire if you got certain ending in the first game
Heijoushin replied to dragothica's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Each of the Gods take some minor revenge at some point in the story, but it doesn't really effect the end game. Nope, no redemption for you, I'm afraid.

Needs more DLC
Heijoushin replied to nouser's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but I'd prefer that Obsidian start working on PoE3 instead. Three large DLC packs is enough. Deadfire isn't an MMORPG that's meant to continue forever. For better or worse, it's a finite single player campaign, and there's only so much that you can tack on.

What game did you bought last?
Now I'm interested. I always enjoy a unique story. It's more the odd tone of the dialogue than the story...

What game did you bought last?
Honestly, I wasn't majorly impressed by ATOM RPG. It feels like a clumsy RPG from the early 90s (obviously, they were going for the original Fallout feel). Unless that's your cup of tea, stay away. The writing did make me chuckle though. As one reviewer put it: "It's like a Russian guy wrote a dark story, which was then translated by a jolly British guy who's never seen a post-apocalyptic movie in his life."

What are you playing right now?
Apparently Quest for Glory was one of its inspirations. I only played two hours last night, but I'm enjoying it so far. The point and click gameplay is relaxing, and the whole "school of elemental magic" thing pushes a lot of my fantasy buttons.

What are you playing right now?
I can't speak for my fellows, but I've always disliked FPSs. Not that I mind other people playing them, but I'd rather command an army in an RTS or roll a party of interesting characters in an RPG than just run around ad nauseam pulling the trigger whenever something enters my crosshairs. And recently, hearing about all this microtranslation nonsense, it boggles my mind that people still feed these companies their money. Anyway! I'm currently playing: Mage's Initiation: Reign of the Elements. So much nostalgia. #Only90sKidsWillRemember

State your profession!
Let's just say I'm living the weeb dream.

What are you playing right now?
Yup. Don't bother with the others. That's the absolute peak of the series at the moment. I wonder if the new spin-off with the cop (Judge Eyes: Shinigami no Yuigon) is any good though?

Forum edit function too... sensitive?
Then, to quote my favorite Devil May Cry character, "Where's your motivation?!"

Pillars of Eternity 3 Companions
Apart from maybe Rekke, whose story feels like it has yet to be told, I really don't want to see any returning companions. Fresh characters are always better. I don't mind having a bunch of people just hanging around at your base, but their dialogue needs to be updated with new comments and conversation options regularly. Hanging around inside the ship in Deadfire was boring because people always said the same things.

A question about companions
Heijoushin replied to Pus-in-Boots's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)If I'm not mistaken, the companion's endings are influenced by: 1. How you complete their personal quests. 2. Your interactions/conversations with them. So, if you want the best endings, you'll have to bring them with on the relevant quests and choose certain dialogue options. On the other hand, the whole approval system is more for the romance aspect of the game. If you want to "date" a certain companion, then you have to butter up to them during dialogue. Otherwise, you don't need to knock yourself out to please everyone.
