Oblivion First Impressions
...and now you see one of the many reasons why RAI was toned down. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Would an amulet to detect a given type of creature for this quest be too much to create as opposed to 'toning down' the AI?

Playable Mass Effect
You do know this is Bioware we're talking about, right? They hype is larger than life and I'm sure we could all sit around the campfire trading our fondest memories about it in their past ventures. Dragon Age isn't out yet but it's already a 'blockbuster'. One of the suggested features of Dragon Age was to allow players to 'enslave nations with necromancy' - which by the way is no longer on the game's page.

Oblivion First Impressions
Precisely. Thanks for that honest post, Magical Llyranor. If I ever get the chance to borrow it I will, though, just so I can brandish a certificate when I make any criticism about the game; but a purchase is out of the question. Neverwinter Nights 2 better be good, Feargus. I'm watching you.

Oblivion First Impressions
On the other hand I won't bother with Oblivion. There's little I've seen that excites me about the title, and some of the hype has fell trough the cracks of many experiences several gamers have shared on the net, including the TES Forums.

Starcraft: Ghost News!
I would like to express surprise at this announcement but that would be against my prevalent cynicism.

I don't know about yours but I'd sell every body part of mine except for my meat canon and my eyes.

Oblivion First Impressions
I think the whole problem with the turnbased model in Fallout was that it only applied, controlwise, to a single character. It was soul numbing because players had to sit back and watch party NPCs slug trough it without any kind of player input. In a game like Temple of Elemental Evil, it becomes much more attractive and interactive to issue orders to a group which you have full control over; you can analyze the battlefield and devise tactics that take NPC skills into consideration. In Fallout there wasn't much you can do beyond controlling the PC, then wait for every other character in the current battle to make their move. To that degree I agree it wasn't a success. It worked as a means to an end, but that's pretty much all I can say about it. The ToEE model was vastly superior for a number of reasons and ideally that would be where I would like to see Fallout's combat model go, with perhaps only a small number of improvements.

Because speed sliders and mechanisms to solve time sinks obviously don't exist.

Some revolution stuff (from NOM).
Because kumquatq is a commie. A nice one, but still a commie.

Some revolution stuff (from NOM).
True and that's something I'd do as well but I have to be very sure of the Revolution's full capabilities before doing so.

Playable Mass Effect
Because Bioware says so, silly!

Some revolution stuff (from NOM).
Not Twilight Princess; my Gamecube's already primed for that. I'm wondering about an exclusive Revolution Zelda title. The DS Zelda title seems nice but I'm not big into most handheld gaming. I usually stick to Gameboy Advance games played from the 'Cube, and that's if I enjoyed playing the ROM beforehand.

Oblivion First Impressions
Just as fascist as "it's Fallout no matter how much we change it because we say so".

Some revolution stuff (from NOM).
But what about the Zelda, man?!

What are you playing now....
It really is that addictive. Even when I finished it I had a great urge to replay it and try different things although I had to give it some time.

Technical woes
I don't know what happened precisely. It's the usual freak accident which happens every single year, regular as clockwork.

Audio Upgrades
I'm not that much of a hardware connaisseur, although I'd also recommend the Creative X-Fi if you're looking for a top quality audio experience. It's been recommended to me by a surprising number of people, many of which didn't actually care much for audio quality before coming into contact with it. On the other hand, the Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 is still a good option; it doesn't reach the same level of quality of the X-Fi but it's satisfying nonetheless and at an affordable price. If you're interested, here are some reviews: Audigy 2 review at Techspot Soundblaster X-Fi review at Techspot Audigy 2 review at Tom's Hardware Creative X-Fi review at Tom's Hardware As for speakers and home theaters, maybe this article will help; it's a comparison article between some of the best, high-end speaker systems.
