the most torrented stuff of 2006
I am almost certain it is due a bug in their counting method rather than really insane Fallout popularity. Far more plausible.

Vista gaming will be 10 to 15% slower than XP
That is not going to work: sooner or later manufacturers are going to start looking elsewhere for an OS ... until this, I didn't think Linux would have a chance as an alternative OS for the mainstream industry ... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> More likely Apple will seize on the opportunity.

Reliability of DVDs?
But the question now would be: did you try to restore anything from backup/archive CDs?

I see where are coming at with this, but no, I haven't grown tired enough of life to be in need of a fresh outlook.

Playstation 3 a bargain?
Yes, but they don't have to modify the kernel source. Chances are that what they need is drivers for PS3-specific hardware. If implemented as loadable kernel modules, GPLing the code can be avoided. It is the practice used by many embedded Linux vendors. It is not that simple actually. There is a lot of controversy whether a kernel loadable module is a part of the kernel or not, because it "interacts with kernel in a very intimate manner" [Linus Torvalds]. I haven't been following this debate for a couple of years now, so I can't tell what's happening today.

Probably the same way NVidia distributes its closed-source Linux driver.

The works are grouped by projects. This picture is filed under Personal. Why everyone immediately starts thinking of an unannounced project?

Wikileaks
I am sceptical. If it becomes sufficiently popular to be of any use, it will be flooded with garbage. Imagine how convenient it would be to in politics to distribute discreditable information about your opposition before the elections, or force some politician to leave their position. It is a very common practice in Russia.

Itunes: Biggest piece of crap ever?
You don't lose you songs with your lost/stolen iPod. You can upload purchased DRM'ed music on as many iPods as you want. Also (IIRC) you can re-download purchased music, should you delete some of the songs locally.

Playstation 3 a bargain?
It has an OS other than Yellow Dog Linux? I was under the impression PS3 was running it exclusively.

Itunes: Biggest piece of crap ever?
Apparently the majority of people don't think so, as iTunes sales more than quadrupled.

Throwing out a question concerning AI
I don't know, I always get my ass handed to me in Civ IV in land wars. I always try to wipe out the whole continent, because AI is weak in naval battles.

Recommended sites / books.
Why everyone who wants to get into game programming always choose graphics programming part of it? Anyway, to start with graphics programming, any book on linear algebra would do. MIT computer graphics lectures are exellent for learning the fundamentals and understand how computer graphics works.

Throwing out a question concerning AI
Chess AI can't really be compared to one in games as chess has a very simple and static environment. Modern games, on the other hand, have highly dynamic environment and a lot more factors to consider.
