  1. for those who hate fileplanet.com
  2. You might have confused it with Psion which used EPOC, a predecessor of Symbian. But no, Palm does not use Symbian.
  3. I don't think they are that clueless. They know it can't be stopped, but they try to delay it, or at least make pirate distribution more difficult. As for DRM, HD-DVD copy protection is not nearly as invasive as DRM for downloads. DVD has content encryption system too, did it cause much trouble to legit consumers? (note: I'm not talking region coding here, which is pure evil)
  4. I love this idea for an eraser. ^_^
  5. I'd speculate it is mostly due to the fact that TV shows main value is in something else than computer-generated graphics: games need better graphics to keep the edge over competitors, TV shows can keep an edge using more cost-effective means. Just different medium and audience. I agree though, most TV series look "cheap" compared to full-length movies and computer games.
  6. What's with all Moral Dilemma threads lately?
  7. Palm devices run Palm OS, not Symbian OS! Symbian is more technically superior, however it is plagued by a multitude of problems on development side. It is far cheaper to develop for WM.
  8. *cough* And other posts in this thread too ... "

Also, the moment when a protagonist runs away from a time bomb showing "00:30" on its timer to escape the imminent death by jumping out of the building on the ground and dodging a huge explosion behind him (the last moment must be shot in slow motion). Oh yes, and one more: Obligatory Female Protagonist, who is in the movie for a romance with Main Male Protagonist, no matter how lame it is in the situatution.
  10. How could you not enjoy ?
  11. I have my doubts they will be true to Fallout cannon too, Fallout didn't even have cannons.
  12. Why a hard disk can't be used for temp texture files? Or PS3 doesn't have one?
  13. No, where did I say this?
  14. In AACS 2 keys are used: title key and HD-DVD player model key. Encrypted disc contains data encrypted with this disc's title key, and also contains title key itself encrypted with all model keys, so only licensed HD-DVD players can play the disc. To play a disc, a player uses its key to decrypt a title key, and a title key to decrypt content. The hackers pulled a key from HD-DVD software in order to obtain title keys from discs and decrypt the content. So AACS is not really hacked, but circumvented.

Yeah, this James Bond is pretty damn evil.
  16. Yes we are all hypocrites. Though this case is a little different. Torrent downloaders do not sell their downloads for money or pass it as their own work.
  17. Things might change soon.
  18. Well, that's certainly how it looks.
  19. "I want a game to be exactly as I want, the rest I don't care."
  20. Worse yet, some people think it is OK, if not good for the musician!
  21. Tetris.

How can anyone forget Crazy Military Man, who is really eager to unleash a nuclear/bio/chemical strike on whatever and wouldn't listen to The Scientists Who Know That Something Bad Is Going To Happen and who try to put some sense into him.
  23. In 2000 a Finnish guy Janne Suni composed a C64-style music track ("Acidjazzed Evening") for Assembly 2000 demoparty, a competition in computer art, held in Helsinki, Finland (Later this track was remade by Glenn Gallefoss with Janne's express permission). Fast forward to 2005. American hip hop and R&B record producer Timbaland releases a ringtone on MSN music ("Block Party"), which is exactly the same song with an added beat! In 2007 Timbaland uses the same exact track for a new song "Do It" as a part of Nelly Furtado's album. The similarity between music tracks is astonishing!. Now, see (or, rather, hear) it for yourself: Original MOD track (MP3 format) 2005's ringtone Some people comment "hey, come on, this is sampling, that's what hip hop does all the time". But this is NOT sampling, this [very naughty plagiarist] STOLE THE WHOLE FRIGGIN' SONG! (Wikipedia article)
  24. I loathe WinCE and Windows Mobile PDAs, because battery life is crap. Well, at least to my experience. When I'll be getting a PDA-like device, I'll get some Ultimate Convergence Device, or at least, a 3G smartphone, one from UIQ or Nokia S60. You can use them with one hand (think, standing when commuting on the train), and your pocket does not bulge from all different electronics: MP3 player, phone, PDA.
  25. Got it. I am not usually into sound stuff, but this is awesome. The difference between my old headphones and these is tremendous! Audio hardware is underrated.
