1. Well install it and try, it is free. The worst that could happen is that you waste 120Mb of bandwidth and 30 minutes of your life. It is OK for home use, though I can say that MS Office is still more sleek and functional. Some users can't stand OO (I couldn't too!), but I kinda got used to it and even find some features that I needed in MS Office, like saving to PDF or automatic bibliography management (can do it only with EndNote in MS Office). So yeah, if you are not super advanced MS Office user, you can find it suitable.
2. Really? From what I read, Intel HDA (while a big improvement over AC'97) is still lagging behind midrange to high-end dedicated sound cards.
3. No need to disable it, add an exception to firewall rules. Actually SP2 can allows to automatically punch a hole in a firewall when application requests network access, a dialog should have popped up. Also, if you are behind the router, check its open ports as well.
4. It is not a bug, but a feature. RSS feed is XML, and HTML cannot go actual summary data inside RSS feed because HTML is (somewhat) a subset of XML. Wrong:

Some title

Bold text
...
Can't do it, "b" is not part of RSS feed XML schema. Right:

Some title

Bold text
...
Last one is OK, because angle brackets are escaped and they are not treated as part of RSS feed structure. Otherwise it would confuse the parser and validator, and besides, HTML is not always well-formed XML, so XML parser could choke on it. You need to unescape XML tag content to get actual HTML out of it. I'm sure .NET has some utilities to help you out.
5. I have a P5W DH and on-board soundcard (5.1 and all that jazz) blows (well, I didn't know it until I've got Audigy and Sennheiser headphones). Same as taks, signal is really weak. Can't hear big difference on speakers, probably because of the amp.
6. I got "Curious Adventurer" I've got "Impressive Mastermind". This kind of quiz would look better in a tabloid than CIA website.
7. Episodic content was screwed in HL2?
8. The garbage that came in my NWN2 CE box completely demolished my faith in off-line distribution. Now I'm a strong proponent of on-line model.
9. Did you know that you can backup Steam games on CD/DVD?
10. Do not forget that HD content will take faaaaaaaaaar more space than normal movie downloads, hence TV (for the time being) has an edge over direct download and streaming. Also, licensing and DRM issues complicate the process even more.

12. My RAZR V3 lasts for a few days on standby. Garbage phone, by the way, I regret buying it greatly.
13. I've read somewhere (don't remember where) that it runs smoothly on older hardware.
14. Longest? NWN1 online, ~24 hours (a day + a night + half a day), one food break + snacks on the go. For the last month I was only playing tetris on my mobile phone while going to work by train.
15. My avatar is a shameless ripoff. My sig is a forkbomb. Before that I used to have a DOS program that prints "Boobies!" infinitely, until my cover was blown by Wistrik.
16. Not that I don't like Drizzt (honestly, I don't care as I haven't read a single book), but I hate, hate his "fan club".
17. So, actively registering and humongous number of posts == avoiding people here? Hmmm.
18. Portal is going to rock. Also, STALKER. Again.
19. It is very similar to the problems I had with NWN1 at around 1.11 patch. Only that after I came back after crash I controlled one of NPCs.
20. Hahahahaha! Sorry, couldn't help it. Laugh it up Diamond. Clicky!!! Oh snap! I laughed too early.
21. Hahahahaha! Sorry, couldn't help it.
22. There is a certain percentage of the population who are whiny jerks. The greater is the number of people your job requires you to interact with, the greater is the chance of you meeting them. With jobs like customer service, sales, and telemarketing the chance of meeting unpleasant people is the highest possible.
