  1. Josh had a number of Pillars 1 import/world-state tweets tonight, with some screenshots of the interface for world-state creation. Unfortunately, he didn't thread the tweets, so I'm just going to link each individual one with comments where particularly interesting. "the only save game you can import for deadfire is an endgame save. however, if you don't want to import an endgame save, you will be able to select from one of several pre-made story states or set your own variables and save them out." Tweet with some screenshots of the categories in which you'll be asked to set variables if you create a bespoke world-state within Deadfire. A clear statement of the options for a new game, and a tweet to the effect that saves can't be edited. (Nothing new here, IIRC.) Selection screen for the pre-created world-states. ("Keeper of Secrets" sounds interesting. I assume that's the anti-Animancy approach?) No special rewards for save import. Also, Josh being cheeky. "Everything Bad is legitimately awful. it assumes all of your companions died, you screwed up everything that could be screwed up, and you made vows to every god + violated every one of them." "reminder that if you got eder, aloth, or pallegina killed in pillars 1 (or never recruited them) and import that save, they *will not* appear in your deadfire playthrough!" Edit: something went wacky with my links. Trying to fix. Edit 2: I think that should do it.
  2. There's a weird line break in the tweet text, too "... but Naga prefer / violence over cooperation." Probably nothing, as none of the other bestiary tweets featured anything like this. But it's not like we have much else to go on here.
  3. Also works well mechanically, based on my (pretty limited) Beta experience. Nalpazca generate wounds passively when on drugs, which pairs well with a character who opens the fight with buff spells/chemicals, and who has access to the good defensive illusions. I would like to see more documentation regarding the "Drug Crash" effect, though.
  4. It's tough to make these decisions without seeing the full range of character development (and without meeting the new folks), but my present inclination is a core party of a PC Contemplative (Wael/Nalpazca), Pallegina as a Herald (Kind Wayfarer), and Serafen as either a Witch or a full Barbarian (depending on how Ciphers shake out with the incoming balance changes), with a rotating back-line of either single-classed Aloth or Geomancer Maia, and either Druid Tekehu or Priest Xoti. I'll have to try out a Herald-Contemplative-Witch front line. Might be too squishy. Could switch the PC to pure Priest and Xoti to pure Monk, but I suspect that the Wael abilities' synergy with front-lines combat will provide a greater advantage. Could also use Gina as a Crusader or pure Pally, perhaps picking up Chanter abilities with Tekehu (Theurge) when I need them.

  6. Here are all the Companion and Sidekick multiclass options. Sweet that Pallegina gets Herald and Crusader options. Edit: Subclasses not included, with the exception of Fassina (whose Conjurer subclass is probably mentioned because he revealed that in a different post earlier today). We already know that all the new-in-Deadfire companions have at least 1 unique subclass, but they're not mentioned here. Edit2: Seemed significant enough for its own thread, so I made one.
  7. You can sorta see the cloth map mockup on the images that they've put out for the physical editions, like this.
  8. so grammar many old inexplikibble wow Good fun?
  9. My guess is that they adjust the aggressiveness level by difficulty. PotD enemies will probably be more eager to use special abilities, items, etc., than they are on lower levels.
  10. This has been my experience as well. Granted, I'm still finding my feet in terms of building/using melee combatants (playing on Veteran with a Wael/Nalpazca Watcher, a player-created Skald/Paladin, and the Mercenaries Fighter, Rogue, and Wizard), so I expect that I'll get a bit more efficient with experience. The casting is slower than Pillars 1, but the 2/level limitation has been a greater constraint on my use of spells than casting times.

  12. Yeah, as somebody who only really jumped into the beta in the past week, I haven't found the casting times to be nearly as onerous as I expected after reading these forums.
  13. It's spelled "mystary" around these parts. Anyhow, the emphasis on "beginning again" and the hardest part being "letting go" brings FNV: Dead Money to mind.
  14. Weird tweet on the @Obsidian account Deadfire: Dead Money? What's happening tonight?
  15. I've just started tinkering with the Beta in earnest, and the lack of this is already my chief frustration with it.
  16. A Wael-Nalpazca mix seems like a slam-dunk, roleplaying-wise. (And the Nalpazca's passive Wound generation probably fits well with a character who has access to good deflection boosts and spends the opening parts of combat buffing, rather than engaging enemies.)
  17. I assumed that was the Leaden Key cultist mask , we had the same thing in the first game as well. (Woedica hood? i think it was called) Whatever it is, they call it a hood in Deadfire. (Kate, you may recall, is on the Deadfire narrative team.)
  18. No Smug-Looking Barrels? Anyhow, there's additional tumblr post on the tabletop ruleset, but it's in German.
  19. "Eotens" is already used in a Pillars 1 item description.
  20. I'm too distracted by how his codpiece is clipping through the edge of the drum. Neat way to show off the lighting effects, though.
  21. The GameInformer interview with Josh is by far the most illuminating of these. Thorough, with some (AFAIK) new information in a few areas. On Luminous Adra: On Tekehu: (I was half right.) Also, the Lava Dragon art at the end is pretty sweet.
  22. Don't really have a pithy comment for this one: https://twitter.com/jesawyer/status/960961698424213504
  23. Somewhat off-topic, but everyone can use a reminder from time to time: Don't be Jack.
  24. Josh has addressed this on his Tumblr page. Edit: Also, a related post.
