Happened to look at the SomethingAwful thread, and Josh has been on one of his more active streaks there over the past day or two, including some AFAIK heretofore unknown lore points. Here's the thread, but SA sometimes makes stuff non-viewable to non-members, so I'll post the most interesting quotes. Eora lore stuff: On ship battles: Other:

Who is Mirke?
Enoch replied to Infinitron's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Looks like an end boss to me. -
They dropped the barred schools from the Priest subclasses. The deity-specific flavor now comes from bonus spells per spell level. For Wael, those are: 1: Arcane Veil 2: Iconic Projection 3: Mirrored Image 4: Llengrath's Displaced Image 5: Confusion 6: Arkemyr's Wondrous Torment 7: Gaze of the Adragan Source: https://twitter.com/jesawyer/status/933395115338481665 I haven't gotten enough chance to tinker around in the Beta to have a strong opinion on good Priest multiclasses. However, given that Waelites get the defensive illusions for free, the subclass would seem to synergize best with a front-line combatant.

Obsidian is having an internal play day, or possibly week. Josh is playing a "cheeky" (google translate tells me that his charname = this in Icelandic) Battlemage historian. Carrie is happy that Megan is testing all of the "capriciously evil" reactivity with her Corpse Eater. Megan apparently likes this kind of thing.

Only 4 vowels in that many consonants makes it pretty unlikely that they're spelling anything in English. Could be building toward a scrambled full url-- pulling "HttpS" and "www" out makes the vowel-consonant balance a bit more reasonable.

I wonder if the mention of a bathhouse was just a joke. Luminous Bathhouse is a location in Neketaka. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5HAqsnDeOIc 3:07 I can't stand that. All that dirty cloth in the water. It's perfectly fine if Obsidian doesn't want nudity in the game, but then why create a location where people should be naked? Just don't put a bathhouse in a game if you don't want nudity. I shall pretend it's a post 1970s swimming pool. Did you just send this same rant to Josh on Tumblr? Not quite sure what your objection is-- is the problem that everybody in the bathhouse isn't nude? Really?? Seems reasonably likely to me.

It was available as an add-on in the Fig campaign, so they're certainly printing some of them. But I'm not sure whether that necessarily means that they'll be selling it retail. Yeah. I hope I did not miss the boat on that one. I guess I could just print out the soft version and put it in a binder. Not the same though. Edit: I just got it as an add-on to my pledge, just in case. That's consistent with my experience. I can think of more than one instance where I would've happily paid for DLC had it been released while I was seriously "into" the game, but didn't bother with the DLC when it did come out because I had already moved on to the next thing. (For example, I still haven't played through F:NV: Lonesome Road. I even own it!) My guess is that sales data shows that it is very important to get stuff out close to release.

And here we go again. This time it's @Obsidian with the official release date announcement... and a .gif with a 6-character code. https://twitter.com/Obsidian/status/956574274612994048

Recall that Obsidian has done this trick before. That wasn't random, people figured out that puzzle. It spelled Deadfire. Yep, someone didn't finish their homework. Enoch, I'm looking at You. Sorry, that came out poorly. I was trying to refer to that little letters-hidden-in-images puzzle as evidence that this wasn't some random prank. And, really, leading one's most dedicated fans on a wild goose chase would be a... rather curious decision, from a marketing point of view.
